Sucks they removed the Naught Dog presentation from Day 1 of the Summit, luckily i watched it and they didn't show anything new as far as character creation was concerned it was the same process. They use scans and solvers...yeah. The cool part was the technical aspect the gore system, the muscle system which is the same way in the first Last of Us video presentation. Using lots of joints on the face to bake blendshapes on them via skinning for optimization. Same method using a muscle system, baking it to joints via skinning, this works in UE5 now with the ML deformer. They skipped the hair segment, showed the images very fast but I analyzed the images from the presentation and it's a layered hair approach similar to my Vigo hair video. They showed fur haircards applied to the dog, those haircards had transferred normals from body to them. Remember testing that but didn't like how it looked on Vigo, works better for short fur. They showed some other monsters from the game not just Abby with her unrealistic body in a zombie apocalypse. The gore system was interesting, they used a body mesh with vertical uv's with few seams, they also use it for wetmap. It uses UV set 3, with an RGBA texture, RG is normal, forgot what was B but A was the alpha. Basically it consisted of painting opacity on the model, filling the "holes" with gore caps and painting the gore textures near the holes. The coolest thing what a huge boss made of 2 characters, the mocap was funny they tied together 2 actors to do the animation, the monster breaks apart in 2 at one point, that took a lot of work from every department. They were other bits and pieces but nothing else that i remember now.

Sounds very interesting! Could u tell us why they removed the Naught Dog presentation? Did u download that part? Any ways can we obtain or watch it?

@@BS01234 No one knows for certain, some thing bc they showed the gore system it wasn’t allowed on KZbin so they made it only available in the live feed. I didn’t record it, maybe someone else did.
