The #BMWX2 returns for 2024 built on the same redesigned chassis as the boxier #BMWX1. The #X2M35i is the more performance oriented version with the new #X2 also growing in size and luxury this year. It also finally gets a design that looks more coupe-like and gives off more baby X6 vibes versus the tall hatch vibes of the previous generation.

Right now I'm at the 2024 Chicago International Auto Show for the 2-day press event. I'm shooting reviews for the Vehicle Visionary KZbin channel. While walking the floor this afternoon I saw Mr. Bey, as he was reviewing a vehicle (I won't say which), and I stopped him when he took a pause, introduced myself and asked him to take a picture with me. This guy was SO gracious and polite to me and took the picture, and took time to chat with me, even though I was interrupting him. He's a gentleman. Thanks for the picture Mr. Bey 🙂👍.

No rear window wiper/washer and no spare tire. Same lag/lurch from a normal stop/start as regular X1. Same engine as X1 M35i. So, basically another X1 without a rear wiper and less cargo room.

Yea biggest complaint about my 2018 X1 is the start from stopped feeling. I was hoping they fixed it on this new generation. No spoiler at the top of the X2 window and wiper will be my reason I stick with X1. The sun and hail in Texas will destroy the X2.

I thought the same thing. Then I took a minute to ponder who this car is for: Mid level manager. Late 40s early 50s. Recently divorced. Kids are grown and hate dad. Needs to “show off” at company events. So, that large area is for the purse of his long-term “escort girl” or, equally likely, the young intern secretary that he has woo’ed by throwing her some money here and there. And yes. He bought that gawdy purse. And paid too much for it.

I remember when 35i used to mean the car had the 6-cylinder (like a 335i sedan)... now it means an upgraded 4-banger? I know the 6-cylinders have moved to the 40i designation, but still.

Nice! , are these carmakers trying to steer you into electrification for ex not have a traditional retractable roof ?.. off the grid here, so I test driven a BMW i5 M60 yesterday while getting an oil change on my 23 x3M40 , and the dealership salesman was trying to get me to break my current lease to put me in the M60 which I am thinking to upgrade, but I’m not sure. Question does anyone know how much to insure a luxury EV vehicle ? I don’t particularly like electric vehicles , but I did enjoy that M60

I saw this in person today in Frozen Portimao Blue. Definitely looks a lot nicer in person than on videos/photos. Same as my G87 M2 - videos/photos don't do it justice. The interior is really nice as well.

I love the style of that. For me personally I stuck with the X1 for the space practicality. My X1 M35i is somewhere between the factory and the boat, so maybe a month out. This new X2 would look amazing in so many flashy individual color choices as well but that red is great on it. Note that the price difference between regular and M versions is not quite as much as it seems. At least for the X1, the M25i version adds a handful of things standard that are optional or in packages on the X1 28i. For instance, the HK sound and m sport brakes (and 19" wheels) are standard on M35i

Loved my X2. This is a major contender for my next vehicle. I have an 2022 X3 M40 which is wonderful, but too big for me. Knowing that the new 2025 X3 will be larger, not sure I want another.

A 1 second improvement to 60 doesn't seem like a worth while upgrade considering the higher price vs the 28. Might be better to go with the base engine with M styling package. No one is going to track this so I doubt you will miss the larger brakes and extras that go with the m35i.

I find the ~30i level of power is often the sweet spot with BMWs. Unfortunately in the UK we're only getting the 20i (170hp 1.5L) and the 35i so there's a pretty massive jump in performance (and price) if you want a faster one

@@ApurtureSci I have a 2017 X1 and it's plenty peppy. I think it has the same engine base engine as the 2025. So far so good. I can get almost 40 mpg on the freeway when driven conservativley.

@@stevelouie5928 Definitely enough power for a daily runabout. I had a '21 320i for a few months and that felt perfectly adequate with only 184hp. Got over 50 mpg UK (that's over 42 US) with ease on the motorway which really impressed me, although apparently the 330i can do just as well considering its basically the same engine & gearbox. Great cars!

If you compare the FX, the first generation really didn’t have a coupe like backend as it had a slightly curved vertical roofline and tailgate, like the Buick Enclave SUV. The second generation FX released in 2008 had a more curved incline roof and tailgate, but it was still not as drastic as the X6. The BMW X6 was released in 2007, that was a seriously inclined roofline and tailgate that was more noticeable than the FX. So therefore what he is saying is correct. BMW was the first company with an SUV with a coupe like backend.

BMW snobs aside, who think how dare their beloved perfect car company sell anything other than a straight 6 RWD car, well this generation looks like they re-skinned a Polestar2, no thanks, I'll take a barely used previous gen M35i for under $30k and it's as simple as a VW for maintenance, it has the same best FWD based AWD Haldex system, which means you only need one extra Haldex oil change every 40k compared to any other basic AWD car out there.
