great job. When you were frustrated with the car shifting for you, try this: Pull back on the toggle shifter a 2nd time (first pull = D, second pull = M). Then, it will do it's best to obey your shifting choices, while always reserving the ability to downshift or upshift to protect the powertrain, if you forget to keep working the paddles. Nice pace, good facts about this as well as comparison to predecessor and competition. And, like others, the profile really gets me as an old SAAB-o-phile from way back. So excited for this updated model.

Love the old 1990s Saab-like profile. I own a 2022 x2 m35i and was impressed with my test drive of the new version. ordered new m35i in storm bay with red interior and 21 in wheels.

The MINI-ness of it? BMW was already using UKL2 for years before the first Mini based on it, the F54 Clubman, came to market. It's a BMW platform that trickled down to Mini.

Use Bimmer Code. It is basic programming ap that has a pretty safe interface. One can program much more than the iDrive does. In fact Bimmer Code is one of the main reason I scored a '22 M35i, this will be the last access to bimmer code. In the ap make sure you do not enter the command line, bad things happen when a non-programmer tries to utilize the command line. Once again it is easy to use in the Ap and it can be found on the internet for free (but there is a "full" version, around $40...

First time viewer and Great review Matt. Really great insights. I am a lifelong non-gear head Beemer driver. Almost exclusively a 5-series middle aged business man driver. I did test drive the new X2 just last week as well and was pleasantly surprised. With my wife in a '22 X3 (thus covering us for cargo and size when needed), am I crazy for thinking about a fun X2 to replace my '22 530i? Really feeling inspired to have a sporty SAV. Sort of a larger sports car. Was considering the base model 2.8 with M-sport package added as I don't think the full M is warranted for my primarily commuter and local driving. My only question - which you do touch on in your video - is how you think the ride will be for 2-4 hour highway drives along the northeast I-95 corridor? To me, the 5-series has always been a "sportier Cush" to their Benz equivalents. Do you think my 60 yr old body will get uncomfortable at all for periodic, slightly longer drives? Open to comments from all, and thanks again!
@dwnshft9 ай бұрын
Good question - the 5series will certainly be more comfy and more refined. You’ll notice the price difference in the cabin with the X2. It’s good for what it competes against but against something like a 5 series it’s going to fall down on comfort. But of course everyone’s experience is unique so just be sure to get some seat time in the X2 before making your final decision👍

Funny because MINI Countryman has been putting the boot release in the logo for years now - BMW didn't have to look to other manufacturers for that. As a MINI owner I'll likely move to an X2 when it comes time to replace our Countryman - we're just not "feeling" the new MINI design - they've really done a good job at removing the MINI's mini-ness and I'm not sure it'll ever come back...

An outstanding review. Thanks. My fully-equipped red "Baby X6" that was "ordered" back in December should be delivered to me here in PA USA in a few months. Hopefully! It'll replace an X3 M40i which might have been replaced by an X3 M or higher... but upon the recommendation of my cardiologist, I opted for the X2 since it's more appropriate for folks in their 80s. The car looks and sounds great, it's got plenty of space for groceries and stuff (but maybe not a wheelchair), and it is sufficiently lux and techie inside. (I heard that there's no interior leather due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.) Plus, at just over $60K, it's a steal compared with most competitors, like a M-B AMG. The one flaw for me is that a Class 2 trailer hitch isn't an option like on my X3, so I'll have to find another means of pulling my Harley trailer. Hopefully, the car will be here in time for the MVasion event down in TN and NC, where it would be great fun to take it on the Tail of the Dragon or to cruise the Cherahola Skyway. Yes, indeed. Bimmers = Lots of Fun. Thanks again for the positive review.

I’m not crazy about the design, but the rest of the car is what I was looking for, so I have one on order in Cape York Green. I would have gone with dark blue, but this would have been my fourth consecutive dark blue BMW, so I decided to get out of the rut. The car is built and is presently waiting in Bremerhaven to get on a transporter ship.

I actually like this design. Love the interior design, rear spoiler & quad pipes! Car sounds great too. I prefer BMW design over all of its rivals… Ordered a new X1 M35i for the misses just yesterday. She loves it - she picked it over the X3 M40i. She preferred the much smaller footprint and the lower front hood that is easier for her to navigate in a smaller SUV. You sound a lot like the KZbinr, Eat, Sleep, & Drive, lol! Nice review mate.

Gotta say, I hated the design when it first came out, but it's kind of growing on me somehow...😂. How does the ride quality compare to the Alfa Tonale? Is it firmer and busier?
@dwnshft9 ай бұрын
Better than Tonale - feels more solid, the base x2 will be a little softer, but even the x2 m35 with the adaptive suspension is soft enough to be comfy 💯

depends from factory m sport trims are stiffer but the sweet spot is with the adaptive suspension that can soften it up

Its down on torque by 50Nm which is alot, and owning the F40 M135i xdrive, can say that that chassis and trans feels alot better after driving the X1 M35i xdrive, there is still a fair amount of torque steer, which is dissapointing tbh, overall its ok , but i wouldn't waste my money again on another BMW product like this.

In terms of the design, I'm not a fan of how the new X2 looks. It looks too high off the ground and it could topple over if you take a turn too hard. The black trim pieces up front are too geometric and just don't fit with the overall design.

The European car manufacturer, once known for their champion cars, is now facing criticism for their unappealing designs and cost-cutting measures. In comparison, Chinese car manufacturers are excelling in both quality and design without sacrificing either aspect. While some may still view European cars as luxury vehicles, it is clear that the future belongs to the innovative and high-end designs of Chinese cars entering the market. The former champions must adapt or risk falling behind in this competitive industry.
