@@crvilca1I’ve never understood why the minivan stigma even exists. At this rate, is there gonna be a 3 row SUV stigma because they’re basically becoming that “soccer parent” car even though they’re worse in every way compared to a minivan. This traverse is basically a minivan without the sliding doors, and even then it isn’t as practical as the well isn’t as deep, and seats don’t fold into it.

So the 2023 Traverse with a V6 and AWD got 25 mpg on the highway vs this turbo 4 getting 24. The V6 ran 0-60 in 6.8 vs this turbo 4 doing 7.45. And the V6 won’t have turbo related problems. No thanks GM!

We custom ordered our Z71 Traverse and we got a call from GM a couple of weeks ago that the manufacturer of the panoramic sunroof didn't meet the order demands and under produced so they are no longer available on the 2024. They will have it available on the 2025 but that will also be a long wait to get those produced as well as they are behind on production. We were really bummed as we wanted the sunroof but it's not a necessity that we needed but again really frustrated that we could not get that option added to our Traverse.

When the panoramic roof starts leaking, it is very expensive to fix or replace. ( expect $2500. or more ) If you keep a vehicle for a few yrs... you are better off without the panoramic roof. Or find a model with a standard size moonroof. When those seals fade it's cheap to replace. Less than $100.

Car is as heavy, if not heavier than the old one, so of course moving that much mass takes the same amount of energy, hence similar MPG. By the way, downsizing is mostly for emissions, not for better MPG. People tend to confuse the two. Turbo engines have a more "complete/efficient/clean" combustion, which leads to less emissions.

Whenever you search “3.6L GM V6” on KZbin, the top search recommendation is “3.6L GM V6 timing chain replacement”. That should tell you that these were _not_ reliable engines. Not that this new engine is going to be any less shitty, but it’s insane for people to be turning around on that paperweight of a motor. And before someone goes “well, I have a traverse 3.6 with 200k and it runs just fine!” I know. I drove a Malibu with that engine and 250k miles in driving school. Even the shittiest engines can’t avoid survivorship bias.

Automakers are going to 4 cylinders for emissions, not fuel economy. Also, those V6 engines were notorious for timing chain failures between 50-100k, and other issues too. Just because it’s a “big V6” doesn’t mean it’s bulletproof and reliable. Not all naturally aspirated engines are created equal.

GM has been on a roll in terms of interior and exterior looks. I’ve never trusted GM reliability in general on anything that isn’t a truck though, so I’d probably pass. However, GM is making nicer interiors and better looking cars, so I’ll give them props. I’d love to see a comments section where an SUV gets redesigned, its downsizing to 4 cylinder, and folks aren’t just complaining in comments all day as if the sales are gonna be affected . And sales are what matter EOD for a carmaker.

@@Natethegreat200c I mean there’s a reason Toyota, Honda, Subaru and Japanese automakers top reliability studies every year, especially from outlets like Consumer Reports. Meanwhile, GM brands usually are at the bottom half of those lists. The moment I see a reliability list from an outlet like CR and it has Chevy/GMC/Cadillac in the top 5-10 and for multiple years in a row, let me know. Also I won’t forget the time when they gave me a Chevy equinox as a rental for a week. I absolute loathed that car.

That’s a good question, they feel pretty similar, but the Traverse feels a little bit wider on the road. Grand Highlander feels like you’re piloting a minivan, while the Traverse Z71 feels more like a Tahoe. Both are still easy to drive and feel spacious. Gm uses the worst quality parts ever too and they upcharge simply because their cars are on the big side ! My 2013 Malibu was beyond cheap (leather, plastics all felt awful and even worse than the most basic Mitsubishi’s, I kid you not) - GM is the worst automaker also when it comes to their cars’ weight balance and mgmt!

Does GM even have a V6? Why not like BMW and have a 3.0L twin Turbo V6 that gets good mileage…? 4 cylinders in such a family hauler are just weak.

Its pitiful that the Honda Pilot has now the smallest infotainment screen in their segment now (7-9in). Wake up, Honda! You've been slipping on features for almost a decade now.

@gabepena2689 Yeah, for now. Keep in mind that v6 engines are going away due to government emission regulations. But most people spend time in the interior. Palisade and Telluride have V6 and not rocking a pathetic small infotainment screen. Honda has a 12-inch screen on the new Accord, but not on their flagship Pilot? Make it make sense! They had all the opportunity to upgrade the screen on their 2025 "refresh", but didn't. Honda has fallen behind from the competition, and it shows all throughout the lineup. I'm not a Honda hater. I used to love Honda. But they are being too complacent. Especially with the styling of the AARP special, Honda Accord. It's the most boring looking sedan I have ever seen since the Ford Taurus.

Well I know Honda just redesigned the V6 to meet emissions for next 10 years. I just think you can't just look at an infotainment as one of the top features, especially if you are long to keep 3 yrs plus. When I bought my previous vehicle three years ago it had the best infotainment out there and now it looks outdated

@gabepena2689 I get what you're saying. But my gripe with Honda is not that they are not competitive enough. Again, why does the Accord have a 12 inch screen and the Pilot doesn't? I don't know what age demographics you are in, but the younger Millenials and Gen Zs are very tech forward. There's no "wow" factor with Pilot. Honda is catering more to their loyal mature customers but not doing anything to sway younger families to buy their vehicles. My cousin is a salesman for Honda. He told me that a younger couple, probably in their late 20s and early 30s, didn't purchase the Pilot because they feel that the interior feels a little dated and the screen was too small (7inches) on the base Sport trim. Then, he sold it to a middle-aged couple who just traded in their 2018 Pilot. My thing is Honda had plenty of opportunities to update the screen. But choose not to. A big omission on their part, especially since their is no hybrid option. The next generation, 2026 Palisade and Telluride, will have a hybrid powertain option. Which is now lagging behind the competition. Honda has always been a day late and a dollar short.

I mean I'll be 100% Honest, it's not competitive enough in the tech department. I'm 32 and I own a 2024 Sport. When I was shopping I test drove Pathfinder, Telluride, Ascent, and Grand Highlander. Looks are subjective, so I won't comment on that, what Honda did very well was cargo space, third row space, storage and drive quality ( pilot is big but feels and handles like a smaller vehicle). That being said the only other one that could match all of that was the Grand Highlander but the turbo in the Highlander just didn't feel as smooth and felt overworked when pushed compared to the Pilot. Was it disappointing that the pilot didn't have a larger infotainment, yes absolutely but car play works well and overall tech is easy to use, and the pilot does everything else so we'll that it didn't mind it. Also as someone who takes long road trips driving at night I don't mind the smaller screen, the large screens can be a huge distraction driving in dark highways.
