If he had a better Japanese and Chinese GP's and didn't have bad luck in miami where he could have easily won the race instead of getting no points due to bad luck of vsc and sainz damaging his car he would be around 45 to 50 points away from max. He was also unlucky in Austria with track limis in qualifying, unlucky at Imola with a penalty in quali due to his team, unlucky in Silverstone due to his team not pitting him, and unlucky at Spa and Monza due to team strategy. During the early part of this season, while Sky Sports were going on about Lando (no British driver bias surely?!), I said to F1 fan friends that Oscar is a better driver and not because he's hugely quicker than Lando (I think they're quite level with maybe Lando edging it on outright speed) but because he has a strong mentality. He's very self aware and knows his strengths and he's only going to get better. You don't often see a driver soak up pressure for 30+ laps without making a mistake. I don't think Pérez's situation got worse within the team after that race. He put the RB20 realistically in the win fight while Max Verstappen was struggling in P7. Obviously it would be way better if the crash with Sainz didn't happen, but the fact that the team really seems to be blaming Carlos for the crash, even internally, considering all Horner and Marko have said until now. Checo is once again getting closer and closer to Max since Hungary, and Baku was the apex (as expected). And it is a very good moment for Checo to be getting better, since we have Singapore, COTA, Mexico and Brazil on the sight (all tracks in wich Pérez has a good history). From what I heard, Sainz' drift across was exactly what he did each lap leading up to the crash which is part of why he didn't get any penalty for it. He just didn't know Checo was necessarily there already. Ultimately I think it was just a racing incident. Sainz wasn't defending, just moving as he had done on other laps and didn't see Checo until right before impact. And Checo didn't move across to avoid it either. Either driver could have avoided it if they were more aware/proactive to the situation. As an Aussie, I'm loving that we are getting more people in F1 now and that Piastri seems to definitely have the potential to win a championship at some point. He has improved a lot faster than I think anyone expected.

Colapinto should definitely be in f1 the kid can race & is exactly what f1 need. These young kids are so good to watch they have everything to gain & absolutely nothing to lose so they go for it. Lando 15th to 4th, 7th in reality but 4th if you discount the crash between the Mexican & the Spaniard. Nonetheless a good effort.

I find it hilarious that people quickly come up with 'cheating' allegations whenever a team brings innovations that are within the rules, I mean these teams pay MILLIONS for engineers to find loopholes and gain advantage while being in the confines of the rules. It's the name of the game, as long as it's passing the FIA testing, it's fair game. A team that's not trying to gain advantages and find loopholes is not playing the game correctly.

Maybe Max will do the logical thing and before the 2026 season. He's already done and won it all. I don't think he wants to become a "nostalgia" driver like Alonso. What I mean with that is that he joins a "promising" team that barely delivers, and every now and then Alonso shows a move that reminds us of his past. Max still has some years left in him - but maybe 10-15 years is enough. Let's get some fresher drivers, instead of hoping for a return of Vettel or Raikonen XD
@066kshitizvsingh43 күн бұрын

I've said it before, on other comment sections, that it was going to be Haas vs Williams for "best of the rest" finishing out this season. Williams did the best thing for them by replacing Sergeant with Colapinto, as we can presently see from the results. If Haas can, honestly, do the same with Bearman, then we can see similar things. In the end, it would be spectacular to witness...

I was gutted for Perez and Sainz. I think they both played chicken and both found out. But I don't get why everyone thinks Perez is about to go. Redbull aren't the hot ticket now, the scandals, the exodus, the technical issues, they can't just sack drivers, they've been too aggressive, clearly. They need stability. Also, Colapinto: that must be quite bitter for Sarge. I think the complexities of F1 driving are more than they appear, that guy would smash almost everyone on a track day but he clearly can't keep up with F1. I don't think there should be any shame in that, he still reached the supposed pinnacle of racing. Some v8 or indie team would probably snap him up.

For all the childish conspriacy theorists ...... there is absolutely no interest for MB to "sabotage" LH in any way. They need the prize money from the Constructors Championship ..... if they chip away at that total by having 2 cars in the points consistently, they can finish 3rd, which, IMO is the best they could hope for this year though 4th is probably what they will achieve. They do not have a horse in the race for the Drivers Championship. "Sabotaging" LH will drop them behind AM ...... You really have to be stupid, if not absolutely stark raving mad, to think MB would shoot themselves in the foot in such a manner ......

Precisely. Red Bull look incredibly shaky and if things continue the way they are, Mercedes can get the spread to them under 100 points which would be a major boost in confidence going into 2025.
