As someone who sells VW, when we got the order guide for the ID Buzz, I literally said "welp we will now sell zero of these" after seeing the MSRPs. Cheapest MSRP is $59,995 before destination. The Pro S Plus 4Motion before destination is $67,995 and destination fee is $1,550. $70k for a vehicle that only goes 230 miles is absolutely insane.
@robertwenrenyehАй бұрын
What stops you from charging it more frequently? Does a person really lose that much time charging it. At home every other day. Does a person actually travel that many miles in one go daily? I mean with a habit of charging cellphones almost daily, how is this any different? It is more expensive than I thought, but it feels part of the price is vanity and amount of space inside. There really is no performance price or luxurious tech price like Tesla adds. Plus I think it is the responsibility of the people who actually buy it, to tell the company where is flaws of the first model are. People need to buy it and input their opinions for improvement for future gen model and future buyers.

@@robertwenrenyeh for a car designed for families (constant errands & kid activities, road trips, etc.), it's not quite enough. combination of shorter range, longer charge times, and not being able to take charging stations for granted means you have to be much more deliberate each day. not to mention the advertised range is under optimal conditions; take cold weather, traffic conditions, etc into account, and you'll rarely ever get that range. not to mention no one will drive it until it hits 0 miles. also, if you forget to charge one day, having that range anxiety the next day isn't fun. all this for $60-70k? if you just need a daily where you won't really drive outside your neighboring towns, do you really need something so large, expensive, and restrictive? and how is a car similar to a phone? you can take a phone charger or battery pack and you're good to go pretty much anywhere. can you do the same with a car? also, you can go where you need to go without a phone, can you do that with a car? i disagree that it's the responsibility of the people who buy it to tell the company of its flaws. it's the responsibility of the companies to do their due diligence and deliver FINISHED products that meet the needs of their consumers. the responsibility of the customer is simply to do their research BEFORE buying them.
@robertwenrenyehАй бұрын
@@peanuts.13 The product is finished, hence for sell. Your point are valid enough for concern. We are just past the turn of the century so we will be getting much better technology as time moves on. We are just unfortunate that we are living in the early half of the century. I am sure there was range anxiety when gas cars first came out and not too many gas stations were around. Horses, Wagons, and Trains probably look far more appealing back then (this is a poor arguement point from me, apologies ahead of time 😅, just had too). Range anxiety can be mitigated by good habit. If you are a family of say 4 to 5 and you don’t find time to charge your car at night then you just poorly the planned the evening for the car’s needs, regardless of price. Cellphones do have portable charges don’t they, but once upon a time they didn’t. And we are at the once upon a time for EVs right now 🤣. Real feedback can only be obtained after owning a product, hence the customer’s responsibility. I think with most EVs, leasing might be more sound for the people who are more cautious. I ordered mine for purchase, so I’ll just have to save up more for car and spend less elsewhere.

$70k for a VW Bus with a bunch of hard plastics and cost cutting, and manufacturers wonder why EV sales are slumping. Almost no one is going to pick this over a much cheaper fully loaded Sienna/Pacifica/Odyssey/Carnival. Although I'm sure they'll be available used for $40k in 2-3 years.
@aa-hd3ihАй бұрын
fully loaded sienna's are 60k and the plug in pacifica is even more which is wild, the VW has more character for sure though & in europe there are more trims and a shorter wheel base one for less money. Reminds me of a VW eurovan / transporter
@vinyfinyАй бұрын
@@aa-hd3ih The range is maybe the biggest issue. The Buzz has half the range of the Pacifica plug-in you mentioned in the MOST ideal conditions; range will typically be even lower (barely over 200 miles). The uniqueness of it just isn't enough to make the price make sense, at least for me, when it's a big people mover than you can barely drive out of town without charging. On top of that, a fully loaded minivan from any of the other manufacturers at least looks/feels like something that costs $60k. The Buzz in this video looks like a mid trim Tiguan on the inside but with more hard plastic.
