I love neon gobies (Stiphodon sp.). They only grow to about 4cm (1.5") and are very slender. There are blue, red, even yellow varieties, but apart from being a very colourful little fish they have great personalities. They will dig little burrows under the rocks though so you have to make sure any rocks are stable.

Yes I love them too! But I try not to promote them yet, since no one is breeding them in captivity yet. (Beyond maybe 2 or 3 people in Europe I've read posts from on forunsm... same with Panda loaches

Great vid! I kept around 150 fish in a 55 Gallon Tank. It was loaded with Neon and Cardinal Tetras, Silver and Marbled Hatchet Fish, ottocin Cats, and some Ghost Shrimps. Never crashed. My Neons lived well over 8 years old. I grew mad plants, plus a never ending supply of Water Sprite. I’m getting a 125 Gallon Acrylic Tank soon. He knew a whole lot and said that theyre a bit like reed tetras in schooling behavior with cory hastatus and werent in the neon or ember tetra family...ill correct the info... You! I agree with all the things you said. One thing you will meed is amano shrimp because they eat hair algae. Ramshorn snail will eat green spot algae, diatoms, and the black thing growing on anubias.

Great set up. I just upgraded (2) 10 gallon tanks (each with about 60-100 guppies into a 55 gallon tank (Wife helped kill off one tank with a cleaning fit (Lysol wipe fell into tank). Had the same principle working as I was trying to learn more about plants. I killed Dwarf hair grass, and micro chain sword. Turns out lighting has always been my issue. So now I've got about 16 Annubias nana petit, 7 Bucephalandra stems (3 varieties), 25-30 Stego repens, and about 45+ wenditt Crypts ranging from 1-14 inches tall. Tank stocking 6 juvenile yoyo loaches, 2 blue gourami, 1 bushynose pleco, 50-100 guppies, and pest snails (till loaches eat them). 3 months running, no algae with a 12 hour photo period as well.

cool. adding some stem plants like rotala, cabomba, ludwigia, pogostemon cardinals or Limnophilia +/or some water lettuce would definitely give you more of a buffer for nitrates/trites and ammonia if you're seeing any spikes in the future

For now I see that is a none issue. Crypts and Annubias are currently growing much better in new lighting growing at a rate of approximately 1 new leaf per week give or take (each plant). Most of the initially small crypts I moved over didn't even suffer melt (oddly enough) and have doubled in size except for the full grown ones. About half of the substrate is also crushed lava rock. The water flow in the tank is handled by 2 HOBS both rated for a 40 gallon aquarium. So the flow is also fairly good. I figure the natural bio filtration and dirt style tank so far is lending to a ton of natural filtration. This tank is a combo grow out for me and an experiment.

I like what your doing an$ I agree about that inch rule honestly when I heard it I looked at the person like they were crazy. I would look at tinwini or gold ring danios, celestial pearl danios/ erythromicrons (those are my favorites) choprae danios, then rasboras: somphongsi, chili, espi, blue/green axelrodi lambchop, pheonix, lime green. Clown killifish, multistripe dwarf loaches, panda loaches, corydoras, (yoyo loaches or border loaches if shrimp are not present).

@@MrGafferwu honestly with any of these fish, you could add 150 total to a cycled and planted tank...your pick of which ones ....but if you add a pleco or some larger fish, just remember that a chili rasbora vs a pleco inch for inch is like 5 rasboras per inch of pleco in their waste. If you had all celestial pearl danios or rasboras- i bet you could have 200-300 in there honestly but thats more work with water changes and so forth

Oh thanks buddy. And of course! ... so my favorite for making money lately are the medaka ricefish strains...but they take 20 days to hatch...which is um...annoying haha. Then I'd highly recommend neon Dwarf rainbows (Dwarf praecox) Rainbow fish, or any Psuedomugil species basically...with Gertrude, Luminatus and Furcatas being my favorite colors and fetching 10 bucks a pop or so retail. (And all are all mop spawners, so you can move the eggs and or collect them every few days after water changes and start a 2.5 or 5 gallon tank for babies to grow to juvenile size in. Next up corydora habrosus, corydoras panda, cory sterbai, trilineatus, julii, or aneus morphs (some like orange laser or black / orange Venezuelean are worth 10 to 20 a fish, and they have 20 to 60 babies usually.). Common bristlenose are easy too and lastly kribensis pulcher are my favorite for parental care and colors. Best of luck, buddy!

Bro I really love your tanks. Lol the inch rule is so rubbish. Pretty much all of my tanks are what most would say over stocked. My nitrates I keep them at 5ppm to 10ppm, tds is never over 250. I use plants mostly to filter my tanks. I have learned so much from you. My tanks have thrived in the last 3 years. My plant growth has been insane.

I have a 16g heavily planted Father Fish set up tank with 6 galaxy rasboras, 6 red striped rasboras, 2 panda Corydoras (will be getting one more) and 9 neon tetra. I also have some shrimp btw. I often find the striped rasboras schooling with the tetra or shoaling together. I’m looking to add more fish to my community and this tank of yours interests me. What would you recommend?

Nothing wrong with inch per gallon rule. I've a 30 g and 35 fish in there. Platy molly tetra angel. I'm at about 2 inch per gallon in there. Tank is all fine. Parameters good no aggression. As an experienced fish keeper the inch per gallon to me is a short cut calculation. Nitrates though.. 80 ppm to 100 ppm

those are some bigger fish. Also the same is true about an oscar or sting ray... if theyre only 10 inches long.... a 10 gallon tank is no where near enough. Mbu puffers and all rays being the most extreme.... puffer 20 inches long...needs 300-500 gallons

The inch per gallon rule does not apply to healthy planted tanks. The plants absorb the nitrates/nitrites. Are you pumping in CO2? What lights do you use and how many hrs are they on for?

yessssirry. I have a bubble for second of CO2 then 1 18w Aqueosky LED and another 32 watt archeon 28 inch light...70 gallon hob custom...no charcoal , just lots of filter floss and some ceramic bio rings

ahhh good questions. The light is on usually 8 to 11 hours honestly...its a medium/high amount of light with the shade from the rotala bending over and this i get away with even up to 12 hour cycles, but i try to keep it around 9 or 10 hours...then i can dial down or up easily for breeding or flowering purposes . ph shift is about from 6.5 to 7 in the day usually and 6.0-6.5 at most in the night ...if i dont run CO2 plants actually give off less oxygen and the fish seem more sluggish oddly... but i use a low amount of co2 at 1 bubble a second and the HOB which off gases half of it rapidly. The shrimp being neocaridina and malawa is key....blue bolts were in there about 4 months and then just disappeared and died i suppose....the biggest swing comes from stirring up substrate or moving stones though, since ADA Amazonia has ammonia and nitrates/nitrites which all add a bit of wiggle to a low tds low kh system (adding some kh could help, but then the fish couldn't be dark water species. lights are on and off manually, co2 turns off an hour before lights out and 30 minutes before lights on in theory. I do skip days of co2 at times if I want growth to be less dense or to get taller/split stem plants faster.

Merah means red in bahasa melayu. I have a 2.6 planted nano tank and i too overstocked it. 4 norman's lampeye kilifish and 3 zebra danios. Everything is looking fine. Weekly water changes and maintenance, tank and fishes are healthy. Love your channel btw. Keep it up.

panda garra get 3 to 5 inches...so it could outgrow it...otocinctlus species are great. zebra, orange or marbled oto are my favorites, and they dont seem to eat too many shrimp babies...if any...they want algea and decaying food

I would recommend guppies, any sort of bass or sunfish... big old peacock bass are neat if you have a pond. Catfish are generally okay with heat...medaka rice fish, goldfish, koi, carp, and most of the larger danios...zebra or leopard, kyathit danios etc.. the main thing is trying to get oxygen into the water. No fish will live past 95 degree water for long, and 85 is the top range for most tropical fish other than discus and angels. So i recommend getting some shade, and or a fountain/aeration set up of some sort

I would say that your selection would work out fine, but make sure your dwarf powder blue gouramis are female (no red stripes)...and they'll stay far more peaceful. Also, you have the room for even more fish probably, so you could easily do a group of cardinal tetras at like 20 or 25 (id pick one species... maybe rummynose tetras since the school beautifully)...and bump up the school size. If you're okay with water changes weekly, you can fit a ton of nano fish in a tank...just do it gradually if its not an old and cycled tank). However if you ran the stock load you listed, and planted the whole thing well with some wood or stone to allow fish to use more mid level tank water- then you should be able to do monthly water changes most likely... but if you increase those schooling numbers just check the nitrates and do water changes at 40 or 50 ppm. Sounds like an epic tank

Theres 2 body types the ember tetra diamon shaped body that has neon: black, silver, albino, gold, blue green red (glow light tetra) sky blue, lavender, and then the slender body tetras in blue and green....and then a lot of tiny silver ones that aren't in the hobby.

totally, just plant it heavily and build your population carefully... let low species have a zone and top waters have enough other space. Then observe which fish work in combo...everyone will have different results, but with tiny fish theres not much danger of savage fights...just chasing. I'm glad you enjoy this video! very little now days... mostly micro nutrients..potassium, manganese, a tiny iron, but I stopped all nitrogen since I keep lots of fish, and that has actually brightened up the plants even more if you check out my last livestream

Should be fine, however dont use Sechem flourish excell because it will likely irritate the shrimp, but more over- melt crypts or valesenaria type grasses ...odd

I would probably do midsize (under 2 inch fish)... get like 20 rummy nose tetras , coral pencilfish, or psuedomugil luminatus or gertrude ...then get some corydoras (perhaps 7 to 9 sterbai, trilineatus, or Venezuelan high fins, but take your pick) 2 or 3 marbled otocinctlus algea eaters, then 2 to 5 oddballs for fun- stuff with quirky behavior worth sitting to watch...maybe 3 panda garra, bumblebee goby or peacock gudgeons, kuhli loaches (they do hide a lot though) or honey gouramis. Lastly id pick a handful or complimentary fish to the tightly schooling rummynose rasboras, such as ember tetras, reed tetras (both act similar and work best in groups over 7)...or the tried and true green or glue neon tetras.... the albino neons are really cool looking, or the "brilliant" ones (i think its the same type thing...white to cream color body with blue highlights. Last id pick a pleco for fun... bristlnose or if you have the $...a zebra or leopard frog pleco (Aquatic arts has a killer deal on leopard frog plecos) and you can add the 15% off coupon plus the 100 extra entries into the 1000 dollar give away by mid next week.... for more ideas just combine any groups or increase numbers of my nano species suggestions in "my top 10 combinations of nano fish"..

Hey, can u help me, please? Since the 1inch per gallon is a myth... How many goldfish should I put in a 3000 liters pond? Should I put any other species there? well petco decided to stop selling them for that reason. However if farm animals can still get meds online and such, im guessing it'll be up to each shop to decide the level of risk they want to carry. (people have used it incorrectly as human antibiotics and gotten sick, then sued....idiots). Now if a law changes and says no more antibiotics...then yeah, we could see that. There is a crazy drug crack down in America currently

very very true... many fish do not get along and you need fish that utilize dropped food, algea, auwfuchs, plankton/microscopic organisms, middle water and then top...and need to know whom will stay along side who without stress... (actually i put a tiny amount of preditorial stress in my tanks, to encourage color and speed...but no fish that do damage..just a pleco or panda garra...something a lot larger or very quick, like an un-nippy danio

Hey Alex. I got some of the Axelrod Blue Rasboras and out of 5, only one survived. I did some research and saw that they have a tendency to die without any reason. Which is weird, because there must be a reason they died.

oh that's too bad my friend! are you keeping them in very low tds water (under 150?) with a ph of neutral to acidic? if so, I have no idea either. Mine were at a local shop and I waited a month for them watching every week...I do this to let them reacclimate and then let the store take the hit of the first ones to die...that's one of my only tips though...I them in 2 tanks and very different parameters, but both are very hardy in my specific case. I wonder why though. Again, sorry for the fact that you lost them.

@@Fishtory I did that for almost 3 weeks- used API Super Ich (does less than NOTHING other than kill plants) with Metroplex and nothing changed. I kept temp at 86 and went with low dose Cupramine- cured it in 5 days!!!! It was a miracle- but I wouldn’t recommend going with copper unless you’re really on top of it. I’m overly concerned with my fishy friends well being 😂 I also love that you talk about how dumb the ‘inch per gallon’ BS.

For 95% of fish keepers, yes you are correct. BUT.. . it totally depends what you want... technically i mean like 5% so that at a given time there is waste being made but also delt with by the bacteria and plants... however its a very very fine line between collapse or a dead fish throwing it all off... allllso, if you have water changes multiple times a day, it's what some hillstream fish NEED. To reproduce and so forth. Also many plants turn a beautiful red when starved of nitrates
