One of my fantasy dream tanks is a long planted tank with schools of every single tetra there is with maybe some colorful centerpiece fish like a plakatt beta (hopefully won't snack on the tetras) keeping them in their schools back and forth from one end to the other. Imagine all the flashes of color.

I don’t think you have to worry about a betta eating the tetras, but a large tank with a community of different terra species sounds awesome! I can just picture all the color and movement

I have a pygmy sunfish. Mine are a blackish deep blue color. Black body with almost an iridescent blue outline. I never see them. Sometimes I think they are all dead and then one pops up out of nowhere. Cool fish when they are around. All I see is the nano shrimp. Great video on these nano fish, Joanna.

What’s having them like? They’re a dream fish of mine if I can’t have the wild bettas I want (Betta Persephone if you’re curious). I heard they raise their own babies and I want to at least once have a go at a fish that does that.

@@shannarafryer3111 My fish are very shy. I never see them or if they have babies. I see them once in a blue moon and then I know that they are still alive. I don't know if they nibble on the baby nano shrimp or not. Very nice when I do see one. Give it a try.

Been breeding pygmy sunfish for about 6 months now. You can see them more often if you make a setup heavily planted with fine leaf plants. I have red root floaters, hornwart, dwarf hair grass, and christmas moss. You can see adults and multiple generations of juveniles in the plants. Having a more shallow tank helps too.

Months ago I was on the same journey looking for a long tank since I wanted to do a stream setup. I ended up finding what I thought was better, a 33L (48" x "13" x 12"). That extra 12" of length really sells the "Stream" look. For my list of nano fish, I actually got my top want. Rhinotocinclus Isabelae. What a great nano version of an Otocinclus. I really love the patterns and are just as voracious for algae as Ottos. Good luck on your scape.

I restarted my aquarium hobby a year ago and almost since then wanted to get pearl guramis again, but it got postponed with some fish getting sick etc. and then adding one male to my platies and now there are manyyy tiny platy babies in cool colours, but yeah until I figure out how much they breed and how much I can find new homes for I keep postponing the pearl guramis as they might need good space. I also wanted to try some scarlet baddis in my 30l aquarium that currently only has shrimp, but they might snack on baby shrimp too much and not sure if they would like the bigger tank mates of the 100l tank. And if I am not careful I'm just gonna keep getting new tanks :D
