The guy says he would usually say putting on if he were to replace the word, the answer lines up with that because the question asks for what he wouldn't say. The thing he would probably never say would be A, which is the answer. I know what you mean though, he could have clarified it by saying "I would say putting on in every day language because of the informality of the passage, meaning it is incorrect." This would be a much better clarifier of what he meant.

@@braiden_ But is not the B the least correct?, due to it says "inviting others to their own..." and the next would be "a picnic", so is not incorrect to say "inviting others to their own A picnic or barbecue?
