The 25 Greatest Heavy Psych Albums (same list - reupload)

These are my favourite Heavy Psych
albums. I had to enforce some guidelines
though because otherwise this list
could easily go to 50 albums...
(1) Heavy Psych in my mind means one part heavy and one part psych. So I tried
to include albums that are psychedelic as much as they are heavy.
(2) I also made the concious choice to exclude modern bands that most of the times
are put under the "stoner rock" tag. I will make a separate list for that.
(3) One album per artist.

Excellent list! I didn't know about six of these but there are some long-time favorites in here. I wouldn't qualify Buffalo and Sir Lord Baltimore as psych - the first is hard rock, the second is proto metal, but that's beside the point. Great jams all around!

Heavy rock and proto metal is basically the same. It was all called heavy rock in the 70s. Now we can look back and say it's proto-metal as the bands obviously influenced the heavy metal to come.

Favorite out of this is def Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced Not just one of my fav Heavy Psych albums but one of my fav albums ever!

sir Lord Baltimore was LITERALLY responsible for the term heavy metal as that's how a critic characterized their sound back then.
