When have the cover stories not been "canon"? Buggy's told about how he ended up in Impel Down, Koby and Helmeppo's how they became Marines, Jango's how he became a marine, Hatchan's leads to encountering him again before Sabaody, Wapol's how he became royalty again, Ace's leads to his fight with Blackbeard... Everyone who has had a cover story came back into the story except Miss Goldenweek, Enel, Gedatsu, the Straw Hat Grand Fleet and Gang Bege, and I think we can expect to see the Grand Fleet and Gang Bege again relatively soon.

Another great candidate for the Cross Guild, unless it's 'former warlords' only, would be Katakuri He seemed like a decent guy just fighting for his mom and siblings, and he ended up respecting Luffy by the end of their battle He'd certainly be another strong addition to their badass 'heel turn' crew

He wasn’t left behind. The gates of justice needed to be open. He was the only person able to do this. HE CHOSE TO GO BACK. Stop conflating the story. If a person chose for themselves. Their friend didn’t leave them behind. Luffy didn’t want to leave him. And didn’t know Bon clay wasn’t there until he called when the gates opened. Luffy escaping was only possible because bon clay turned into megellan to have the doors opened. If bBon stayed with Luffy. Like you want. They all would’ve died at sea with the gates locked.

So talking about the bromances with former villains. I can't give an exact source but it was stated that Luffy doesn't kill anybody he kills/crushes their hopes/dreams. Like Kaido he breaks them to join his cause. Parallels with Kaido and joyboy maybe. Also there's the fact that he's joyboy pulling people in to his cause as well. I think for that reason there's no bad blood there. Saying you can try again just not this thing again.

I just still can't see Impel down 2.0, I know it seems the story is building up for that moment but I just can't see Oda dedicate a lot of chapters for another prison break, it still could happen, but we will never get the full context of it, it would be like Law vs Blackbeard, we know they fought but we will never see the full context of it. What I can see could happen is the Marines is preparing for the up coming war and they realize they do not have enough man power for the up coming war so they will make a deal with the Impel down prisoners to fight on their side.

check the cover page for 1106... HUGE hints of a cross guild/Marco impel down breakout. Coverpage this week is a crocodile wearing striped (prison jumpsuit style) clothing on its tail. In the background the shop has a pineapple on it (marco reference) and Robin is doing a thumbs up (up being escape from Impel Down)... I'm 100% convinced this is happening

Garp rescues kobi pudding and law but dies. Shiki recruits caribou, gecko moria, doflamingo and weevil. He retrieves the bodies of the fallen rocks pirates and has gecko moria cut their shadows and possess the bodies of the rocks pirates. The last piece is retrieving garps body for xebecs shadow which is probably sealed in stone judging by blackbeards actions going after boa until she said she can't undo the stone of the last user 🤔 imagine luffy vs xebec but in garps body 🤯 after elbaf they meet with law and he tells them they need to head back to wano where shiki is heading to now that he knows the location of pluton. Law allies once more and it's shiki vs law, Yamato and zoro vs kaido, sanji and jinbei vs big mom, weevil vs Franky and Robin and the rest fight caribou who has ochokus body

He beats Weevil then he hears what is happen on Wano and goes there by himself because he is close by after all Marco also flew there. in fact he may have found Weevil and was able to talk to him about keeping the island safe after all that was he want someone to keep the island safe that was why he did leave with the Cat lord guy.

Here's my theory on how doflamingo and his executives get out of impel down, I think that if cross guild put bounties on the marines, I would not put it past them to take over impel down and pardon all of the prisoners there, and make impel down one of it's territories, as for the staff there, I don't think they'll kill the warden and other high ranking guards, instead, I think they'll bribe them into defecting to the cross guild, as impel down is no longer in the possession of the world government now that the cross guild took it from them and on top of that, all the prisoners there will probably be released, and now, any enemies of cross guild be locked up there instead of pirates and whatnot, and that may be how doflamingo gets out
