In the reptile room Tim Faulkner wrangles an Eastern Brown snake and shares some amazing facts. One snake bite from this creature would be lethal without immediate help.

@@matthewcullen1298 That death was several months ago out near Tarampa / Lowood in SE Qld. The guy captured the snake, took it for a drive, went to release it... and it bit him... He had to drive back home to get first aid...but it was too late. There was another Eastern Brown death around the same time at a place called Gayndah. It is about 160 km inland from Hervey Bay. That was a woman who got bit stepping out of her car(?) The one just a couple of days ago was at a school fete/ reunion near Mackay. A 69 year old man died after being bitten on the arm and chest (?) while trying to remove a snake wrapped around his mate's leg. The news is say it was an Eastern Brown as well. Personally, once a person is bitten by an Eastern Brown or Taipan.... they have a 3 minute window to get a restrictive compression bandage on. After that 3 minutes, their chance of survival if envenomated decreases by 10% per minute...if the bandage is not applied until the 10 minute mark, they are down to a 30% chance of survival. If the bandage is not applied until 15 minutes after the person is bitten... and they are not already dead..... they soon will be.

I really don't like Australia snakes because unlike the ones in America you can't be like "well if it's head is shaped like a diamond it's poisonous if it's round it's not"

Yeah and at least your rattle snakes make a noise. Ive been literally face to face with an eastern brown crawling under a fallen tree out bushwalking in Queensland. The bloody thing scared me. It reared right up ready to strike if need be. I slowly backed up and it slithered off in the opposite direction. We used to give them s gentle tap on the head with poly pipe when i was a kid but they are protected now

One bit my siamese cat that was always down by the river catching red bellied black snakes and gifting them live to us in the house. ( actually only 3 or 4 times and the last two times mum knew that she had them on the front mat by her muffled meyowlffing to be let in. Mum had to sneak up behind her each time and chop the poor snakes up with a spade with Sassy Sapphire looking on with pride at mum's apparently excited "appreciation " of her gifting her the honour of the kill. No kind snake catcher professionals in the 60"s). So, when she came home with a live eastern brown and ran under the bed with it, the snake immediately slithered out and flashed out the front door thank God. Our poor cat was dragged out unconscious with a mark on the front of her foreleg. She topped breathing there on the floor. We picked her up and we each hugged her then laid her on the bed and she started breathing again but looked very sick. We rushed her to the vet 15 minutes away and she was already still alive and was kept there overnight to be treated and either recover or not. The vet was amazed and could only put her survival down to the times she must've been bitten with red bellied venom and also that the mark on her foreleg was more like a slight scratch across her skinny front shin bone rather than a full on bite. Sassy lived on to a healthy old age of 18 years and no more snake catching.....that we knew about anyway.

This is false, the second most venomous snake is the Dubois sea snake

Na mate, eastern brown lol. And from memory, the sea snakes were tested intravenously, whereas the easterns etc were tested intramuscular, so realistically they'd be still more potent even with the same testing.
