I really appreciate if someone could tell me if ARM NAS are ok. In my mind it will reduce electricity bill but I don't know about performance. cheers.

Plex will be the challenging part... but only if you have to use transcoding. If you can use optimised versions where it transcodes the files before watching then it should be fine, but it will not support real-time hardware transcoding. Everything else will be great. If you need real-time hardware transcoding then I would recommend something like our TS-264, TS-464, TS-664 depending on how large you need it, it has a built-in GPU that works great with Plex.

@@QNAPUK I watch videos on my ipad and iphone, I'm sure it resizes because of the different screens. TS-264 is probably better but I was thinking about the electricity saving.

You can use power scheduling, if you know you will never use the NAS between say midnight and 10am, you can have the NAS turn off between those times using barely any power. You can override it with a wake on LAN (WOL) signal or you can just push the power button if you want it back on sooner.

Does the ts-264 support QuTS?

Confirmed to be coming later in the year, series like x53E and x64 will both have the possibility to use QuTS hero. Please note that if the NAS is currently operating on QTS, you will be able to switch but all data must be backed up off the NAS first before switching as the file system will change from EXT4 to ZFS, no way to keep the data intact on the NAS during the switch.
