It's crazy to look back at the cornrow era Axl. In my opinion he reached his peak at around 2006, since he lost the extra weight and was in much better shape, so his singing was even better. There was this time he played My Michelle and invited Sebastian Bach to sing with him and it's unreal just how much better Axl was, sure, it's his own song but the difference between both singers is huge.

I've followed Axl since 92 and haven't stop yet. I think that if Axl would've called his band something else, maybe people would've been more open to listen to ChinDem. But oh well, they're the ones missing it! 🤷♀️

The thing is that Axl's "signature" voice is that raw, raspy 87-93 voice. But it the Axl in that time would never reach the technical stuff he did in his later years. Nowadays his voice isn't as raw and raspy - that's pretty clear. but he is still a force live. Will never get bored of seeing and hearing him.

Axl´s voice has a really peculiar characteristic, which your last comments seem to confirm: his voice splits. It creates audible harmonics that sometimes make you believe two singers are onstage. I would not go as far as to say that you don´t know which octave he´s reaching, but it certainly has the quality of dividing the same air stroke into a not compact sound.

Axl es inimitable. Todavía no he escuchado a nadie capaz de imitarle. If you want me to translate this, just tell me.

Hey, you should do something for Brian Johnson, there are some legendary moments with him, Thunderstruck live at donington in 91, or the way he is singing on the album Back in Black and For those about to rock. Brian is awesome but his vocal style blew his voice out by the 90s U can first hear his damage beginning in who made who He could still hit those highs but there was this Permanent rasp over his vocals that never goes away. By razors edge he lost the majority of his high register He could sing those deep gritty notes (intro to stiff upper lip style) but his highest notes on razor were probably thunderstruck and at times were very nasally and forced through. He’s a power house and got lucky becuase as his voice deteriorated it also got grittier The song ball breaker really shows this Those raspy notes then the screeching cracking chorus. His vocals stayed roughly the same throughout the mid 90s-2008 Rock or bust I’d say has his overall weakest vocals Shot in the dark his voice sounded better had more upper range and sounded much stronger, maybe from the time off the road.

Love Brian's singing on Shake a Leg. Also a big fan of the whole Flick of the Switch album, although performing songs like Nervous Shakedown surely contributed to the deterioration of his voice. I often wonder how much more awesome Thunderstruck would have been with him in his prime.

Absolutely fantastic example, read my exact thoughts. Nothing beats sheer power and uniqueness, that's what rock n roll is all about! And it's why Eddie and Axl are some of the greats to ever do it, you may have faster or more technically proficient players than Van Halen, or a better trained and "by the rules" singer than Axl, but nothing beats the attitude

His scream in Right Next Door To Hell is so impressive because of how long he held it. 30 seconds of him showing the world that he is the best

I listen to I.R.S on a regular basis and still I can't get over his true raw vocal power. In my opinion he is probably the best singer in rock, arguably the best singer ever. Many people dispute his true range however it's likely to be around 5-6 Octaves which is truly impressive, and higher than MJ or Freddie! In my opinion Axl is greatly underrated as a singer and should most definitely be considered as good as if not better than the likes of Plant, Mercury or Prince. Steven Tyler, Axl Rose, Bon Jovi and Bon Scott/Brian Johnson are all iconic voices in rock and should be given more credit for the amazing contributions they have brought to the 80s music scene.

The "I would do anything for you" lines from 'There Was a Time" are at about the 4 minute mark and hit what I am pretty sure are the same notes as IRS

He is one of my favorites, he is so talented and has an amazing voice, I really liked his voice in “since I don’t have you”, even though it’s not the most popular song, he voice is just so calming. And it shows that he can sing loud and quiet.

The highest note that Axl has sung is actually on the song Ain't It Fun and the lowest note that Axl has sung is on There Was A Time.

When it comes to the low note, I have been singing 'There Was a Time' in my head trying to figure out which note you mean. Are you referring to Axl saying "long time" (or "wrong time") as a backup to his own normal range vocals? That's pretty layered and probably goes unnoticed by many listeners.

@@pricedownproductions9851 Yeah the lowest notes are the almost monster sounding extremely low backup vocals on There Was A Time and the highest notes are the extremely high pitched whistle register screams on Ain't It Fun.
