And if there’s anyone who can make soil science, not so dry, it’s definitely Stefan!

If your soil is dry, maybe you need more organic material or mulch? Hehe just kidding

IF YOU ACTUALLY SAY REGENERATIVE, THAT WORD ALONE SAYS YOU'VE MISSE THE BOAT. CUT OUT EVERYTHING NATURE DOESN'T PROVIDE, FERTILIZERS COME FROM BUGS, BIRDS AND WORMS, IF YOU USE CHEMICALS OF ANY KIND, YOU'VE MISSED THE BOAT. MIMICK NATURE, IT KNOWS WHAT TO DO.

Is the system you've developed syntropic agroforestry for the Quebec climate? Merci beaucoup for the videos you've made. I only have an allotment garden with many restrictions, but I still follow what I can of your advice.

How does activated biochar fit to activate flavour in plants?
@StefanSobkowiak
@StefanSobkowiak 6 ай бұрын
Good question, usually it’s the minerals that impart taste. Not sure about biochar. Try it.
@classicrocklover5615
@classicrocklover5615 6 ай бұрын
I compare biochar to the coral reef in the ocean. The coral itself was once alive, but it also becomes housing for other creatures. In soils case, the microbiome. It's the biome creatures that in turn digest the NPK and minerals and make them bioavailable to plants.

That’s right, carbon, soil, minerals that’s how the generations did it and light and water did the rest. The true crops are sustenance and sustainment.

Speaking of carbon, we humans are the carbon the "elites" want to reduce. That's why it's important to learn to grow food and become self sufficient !

Stefan, love you, since many years...but this is a word salad! Biochar...any char in soil is "bio". Because soil is alive... Carbon? Steel is carbon, plastic is carbon, we are carbon... 2 is "soil life"? What does that mean? You said yourself: soil is alive. All soils are, even in deserts! We all by now known that plants can live without soil, its call: hidroponics! What are the things that plants cant live without? Water, co2, hidrogen, light, and a few minerals... Because you have a degree in science i would expect more...

I guess it depends how you want your food to taste.
@Cyclonut96
@Cyclonut96 6 ай бұрын
@matos, not all soil is alive. Especially when you accidentally apply forever chemicals, your vegetables are degenerated. Try reading up on this. In hydroponics you cannot use demineralized sterile water, it has to have minerals and life. I think you missed the point or are intentionally trying to be a smart ass. You should also read up on biochar, looks like you lack some needed education.

@@StefanSobkowiak ohh come on.. Im sure you known that the "food density" of a lettuce grown in soil and one in inddor hidroponics can be exactly the same. Vitamins and sugars depend more on temperatures and sun exposure, both before and after harvest. And the time of and post harvest. The " taste", which is completly subjectiv, depends almost on how to prepare the food. And , as we known, cooking its the time most vitamins and minerals are lost... What does that have to do with carbon and "soil life"? Probably something...everything is connected. We are all one, under the sun...and bla bla bla. One thing we, as growers and consumers, can experience by ourselfs, and sciece backs it, is that the most limiting and influencial factor in plant grow, in the factor we control (and lets exclude co2 - as a "given") - are water and nitrogen. Anyone can test this by doing and experience: add water and N to your 1 sq meter of garden, and then ad compost (compost tea, and whatever you think will boost soil life - nitrogen will boost bacteria, thats proven) to another 1 sq. Which would you say would grow better, bigger, faster, healthier? You showed it yourself: water plus plastic and your trees growed better then water without plastic. Mystify, and language games, are not helping anyone grow better food. Maybe it helps motivate people... Anyway, i still look up for you. You were a good influence in me going back to the land and do permaculture. And maybe im wrong...
