Underrated recruits who recently have become stars or big contributors on one of the best teams in the country; -Benjamin Morrison -Xavier Watts -Adon Shuler -Leonard Moore -Knapp (not elite but a starter) -Pendleton -Faison -Traore(looked fantastic until injury) -Hinish -Bryce Young(way underrated until the Army Bowl week) -Urlacher

It's funny to me how people are still worried about how much stars recruits have just because they are 5 stars doesn't make them elite. There are two 5 star QB's entering the transfer portal as we speak because they couldn't cut it. The Kid from Oklahoma and the kid from Texas A&M they were both 5 star players coming out of High School now they are looking for a new team. I trust the ND staff to evaluate talent I don't care about stars.

All these underrated players and hidden gem 3 stars are good, but I have my frustrations with Freeman and the way recruiting has been trending! I mean, we can argue about how accurate the national recruiting rankings are and all that, but the fact of the matter is, from a recruiting ranking standpoint each class has gotten worse form the prior year! On top of that, Notre Dame is winning on the field, developing talent and getting it into the NFL and they are a championship caliber program right now, so we cannot use that excuse anymore. However, my main issue is, Freeman and his staff can never seem to land the elite 5 star talent! We are not getting nearly enough 4 stars and hardly any, if any at all 5 stars! On top of that, ND only seems to flip 3 stars and yet on the flip side, all of ND's top talent 4/5 star guys always seem to get flipped! We always seem to end the recruiting cycle in a fizzle all the time and it is disappointing! We start fairly strong and then just keep fizzling out down the stretch! I mean, it always seems to happen! We get our few 5 star quality guys flipped and yet we can never flip any elite 4/5 star guys! Once again, here we are again, unless something changes, it appears we will strike out yet again with Madden Faraimo, Nathaniel Owusu Boateng, Derek Meadows and Jalen Wiggins etc... The top talent that really matters! I am getting tired of landing just 3 stars and border line 4 stars! That is fine, but if you want to consistently win championships at some point we have to start landing some of these 5 stars and more 4 stars and Freeman just isn't getting the job done! We can say all we want about Bryan Kelly and most of that is true, but you can make an argument from a recruiting ranking standpoint Kelly has out recruited Freeman! I don't mean to come across as negative because I am happy with the team right now, but from a recruiting ranking stand point I am a concerned fan! Go Irish! God Bless you!!

What a terrible take Frreman has landed mostly 4 star kids. If you like Brian Kelly so much then join him down at LSU.

@@phillipcusic6599 Apparently, you didn't read anything I put! I don't like Kelly at all and I support Freeman! Society loves to take what people say out of context and then make stuff up along the way! I said we can all say what we want about Kelly and most of what is said about Kelly is true! I cannot stand Kelly! Like a lot of Ignorant people today you take everything I said out of context! I like Freeman and support him and think he has done a good job! However facts are facts and from a recruiting ranking stand point Kelly's classes have been higher! You can pout all you want, but they are and I don't like it! Being mad and not liking or liking someone doesn't change the truth! I would take Freeman over Kelly any day, but the recruiting has to get better! We are missing out on a lot of top guys and not landing enough of the elite ones! That is a fact! Name one 5 star this class? Oh that's right there isn't any! The only one you can make a case for is Will Black because On3 has him as a 5 star and that is it! Also, being ranked outside of the top 12 isn't good enough for a program like Notre Dame! We can't keep missing out on guys like Faraimo, Boateng, Meadows, Wiggins, Bowen, Knight, Keeley, Scott etc... Have to land some at some point!!!

First of all, Freeman is 100% better at recruiting than the previous coaching staff. His ability to bring in play makers is above what we have seen in the last 20 years. I do think recruiting is an issue but I think it's because of academic requirements more than anything else. It's so much harder to recruit kids that just want to play football to a school who requires them to maintain good grades. It's not only a freeman thing but a school thing too.

@@jper1245 We can dislike it all we want, but Kelly's classes have been ranked higher at LSU! I don't like it, but it is what it is! I understand that and I am not saying it is bad, but it needs to be better! We are missing more and more on the elite talent! He is good at getting the hidden gem 3 stars and some 4 stars, but each class it is getting less and less and we are missing out on too many of the top guys that we really want like Faraimo! Unless that changes, it doesn't look to good! It just needs to be better if we want to consistently win championships!

@@tonyevans63 well I think you just made one of my points for me too. The school and the academic standards are some of the reason why you're seeing a difference. I think Kelly is leaning heavily on school reputation and location for recruiting. There were dozens of people saying that he was just lazy with recruiting and so that was partially the reason why we got mostly 3 star recruits while he was here. Freeman brings another level to a difficult recruiting location and school and so I think he's doing a much better job... Now can it get better, sure. But I think the school would have to relax some of their standards and we would need to win a national championship for us to get to the Georgia/bama levels
