This is so interesting! A while ago when I was watching another video of yours that featured Galahs I was wondering if there are different subspecies, but then totally forgot about following up that thought with a google search. Here is the answer. =) Galahs are such lovely bundles of joy. : )

A big thanks I've never heard about this before. Very interesting! My Strawberry Blossom passed away years ago and I miss her every time I enter my birds room. She had two different style eyes. The vet couldn't explain it other than genetics.

to be honest i wouldn't have thought that they were different Sub Species i would have just thought that they were just different examples of the genetic diversity of Galah Cockatoos.

So do eclectus Parrots and sulphur crested cockatoos. Australia is a massive island continent with lots of biodiversity. It has the most Parrot species diversity.

I used to have a kulhi galah which is a lot paler and smaller in general. They are found in northern Australia and are a beautiful soft pink. Photo included.

The three are all so cute! I'm no longer in a position to have a pet, but I really love birds, especially parrots (all kinds) and budgies, so I watch videos like this.

I remember researching this a couple of years back, it's really interesting. I am in Australia and where I live, we get (wild) eastern galahs mostly. I also have 3 galahs as pets. They were found by a wildlife rescue who realised they were esaped pets and after no one claimed them, we adopted them. I have one who I'm pretty sure is an eastern (could be a northern though), his eyes have the dark pink/red bumps, we don't know his age, but the vet said he is probably very old. I have one young one who I'm pretty sure is a western. And I have a girl who I'm not sure whether she's a western or eastern, though I'm starting to think eastern maybe. Also as a side note, when I saw Cocky in this video, I wondered if he is my bird as he says hello in the exact same way and acts exacly the same as cocky does. Also, I don't know my bird's history as he was an escaped pet. I am also pretty sure his name was Cocky as he often says "hello Cocky". Now I am genuinely questioning 😅

So many galahs and cockies named cocky. Growing up on western slopes of dividing range nth nsw, seemed different to the coastal ones. According to field guide two types, most of Australia and the other far western Western Australia.

From Australia Loving your videos. Can you please do another video with this women about Galahs and their diet? What their poos should look like? Specific info to Galahs would be great as there isn't alot of videos like that. I have a Galah so that would be very much appreciated. Ps my Galah (Paulie) really like your digital download recipes. Thank You :)

Wow! I've been in Australia 67yrs and never knew their were sub species of Galahs. Are you sure they are different species? I know Americans also call them Rose breasted Cockatoos, also something I've never heard of in Australia. Wikipedia says there is only 1 species.
@lizziehn59282 жыл бұрын
Subspecies are different types of the original species (called a nominate) that have slight differences but aren't enough to be fully marked as a new species altogether

Am I the only person who doesn't like the bumps around the eyes? I thought it was a luck of the draw thing whether your galah gets bumps around the eyes. Are males more likely to have eye bumps? 🤔 I may be getting a galah soon so I'd love to know.

putting this on your most recent video in hopes for a response, i am currently babysitting an agapornis parrot, the little lovebirds, the very existance of it in my house is an instant happymaker and mood uplifter for me, i do however wish to not just get a parrot for this reason, i want the animal in question to also be happy and such and i want to provide this, i do suffer from depression, and although im back on the upswing, every now and then i fall back into it, and that is the thing that is stopping me from actually getting a birb, i fear that i at one point will F up , like the sleeping routine or something. i am uncertain of my choice and rather not have a bird than the chance of said ordeal. but it does help me be in general more happy, its not even my bird and i spend so much time with it. im kinda seeking advice so any is welcome, if i get a birb, ill definitly adopt

These galahs should be stocked in Texas and California where they would thrive. They are common in Australia, and are hardy birds.
@stanfischer99492 жыл бұрын
Can these three interbreed?
@lizziehn59282 жыл бұрын
Yup! It happens quite often in the wild. Most galahs in captivity are likely hybrids to some extent
