Initially I commented about it not working but after a few rebuilds it works perfectly 👌 what I think was the problem was the terracotta because I replaced it with obsidian and it worked amazingly

For everyone building this I am playing in bedrock 1.19.81 minor tweak and it works fine replace all terracotta with obsidian and the Redstone dust placed at 9:24 replace with a repeater facing the block to the left on a 1 tick delay happy building :)

i just rebuilt this door again in 1.20.12 i didn't use obsidian or that repeater. seemed to work fine. But i do agree that the obsidian is a good idea since it is one less thing that can break

This build was giving me some trouble, but placing obsidian on top of the 2 sticky pistons placed at 9:44 seemed to fix it. Also, as another commenter suggested, trading the redstone at 9:24 with a 1 tick repeator facing the block to the left. Besides that, replace your terracotta with obsidian and this build works great!

Are you saying to replace all terracotta blocks with obsidian blocks?if so, why?

@@fubzei8423 obsidian blocks can't be pushed with pistons, but terracotta can, that's why. It messes up the build in certain spots, so it's just best to replace all of them. Also, that's why I suggested placing obsidian over the sticky pistons at 9:44. I was having issues with the pistons moving up one block when the stairs open and not being able to fall again, so that keeps them in place

works just fine (bedrock 1.20.51) just some changes are required 1) Place obsidian above the sticky piston at 9:44 (not on the one above the redston block ) 2) Place a redstone repeater at 9:23 in place of redstone dust made this in a server also works fine there also "just make sure to never flick the lever on and off simultaneously😅

Can you post a fix for this? Breaks after a couple uses on bedrock, others seem to think it's due to the slime picking up blocks it's not meant to

Before last update this happened to me very often , the problem was I put more blocks than needed Next to the button. If you use It very fast Will break too. Sorry for my english ,Im learning

I moved the piston with the observer to underneath the redstone block so that the observer would not get picked up by the slime. I think that's what was causing the issue. Works like a charm now!

Can you explain in more depth? Did you move the observer too or just the piston in front of it, and when you say under the restone block, before or after it retracts? Would be much appreciated

I had this working and then accidentally broke it. Now every time I remake it the right side pistons don't extend when putting the platform back. I've built it 3 times now and it's not fixing. No idea why it worked at first and now doesn't

For anyone having trouble with the right side of the trap door not deploying, at 7:10 instead of placing the piston and observer it goes to on that y-level, place it one below, place one red stone dust on top of the piston, place the observer normally and place a piece of red stone dust behind the observer. Then place a red stone dust behind the one you just placed and then one to the left and right going up one block to power the pistons on each end. Be sure you used obsidian instead of the tarracada and that the build isn’t all messed up aka rebuild it to ensure when it broke that it didn’t break any other part of the build. Hope this helps 🤙🏼

You should edit the video to where you don't forget the obsidian at the end. I had to redo the whole thing from the beginning because of that one mistake made me ruin the entire build. For someone who don't know how to do redstone that is a big deal that you edit out those little things.

Can you explain the mechanic for why the block at 12:14 is required? Is it a push limit thing or does the block get powered sometimes? I determined it was necessary but not why

Hey, can someone explain what the significance of the glazed terracotta is? I tried replacing it with wool but the machine wouldn't work does wool not count as a solid block, does terracotta interact with redstone in a special way? I'm so confused.

I have a base I'm building in a snow biome and I don't know how snow will impact the staircase. Will it destroy the snow? If so good. If not, I don't want to always keep maintenance 😫

@@rebeckaemanuelsson4895 I'd like to call myself good at redstone but prior to looking I spent around an hour tryna figure it out myself and gave up cause I figured finding a tutorial would be easier. it's surprisingly difficult to make a 3 wide staircase that is replaced with a flat floor at the press of a button. cause the stairs need to go in a stair shape and then you press the button they go down 1 block at least and get swapped with a floor that's flush with the surface. kept running into issues with redstone being in the way 1 way or another. and I didn't test it but piston extenders would most likely have the same issue since the redstone would most likely be in the way. anyways I just went with a simple hidden elevator rather than try to figure something out that doesn't even have a tutorial on google.

Okay so I have built this thing 3 times now and every time after a few runs the 4 slimeblocks with the floor on top don’t move to the centre when closing the door. Instead everything covers up except for these 4 blocks. How can I fix this? (I am playing on a realm btw)

okay so after looking into it it seems that the left side (looking towards the lever) is pushing away too slowly due to server lag on the realm, causing them to be taken upwards aswell, is there some way I can add in a delay that would fix this?

When I reach 9:34 (where he places the sticky piston and Redstone block on top) it doesn't work, the piston doesn't extend upwards. I tried deconstructing and rebuilding but it doesn't work, I checked carefully to make sure it was all properly placed but I can't seem to get it to work. Any ideas on how to fix it?

You can use any immovable block not just glazed terracotta

Yea mine worked fine until I added the trapdoor then it completely broke. Kept pushing blocks down and out, breaking things, was kinda spectacular in its own right lol.

build it 3 times already and the stairs worked2 times and then the bottom stairs didnt go down and messes it all up. even without the topfloor part build it still messes up with the observer,those stairs wont come down edit: after 3 titmes more of rebuilding and following the comments here its finaly fixed

Are you using terracotta when he does? I tried just using wool but it only works when you use terracotta where he does.

It‘s sad that in 19.2, it doesn’t work anymore. The pistons are not „full blocks“ now, so you can’t place redstone torches on them anymore

This design doesn't seem to be effective on realms. The piston that returns it to the hidden position fires too early the first few times I built it, then when trying to fix it all I got was the piston that pulls it down to somehow glitch to the other side of the slime block. Hope they fix redstone lag for realms someday.

works on my realm... its a pretty laggy realm, and sometimes it breaks... i'm swapping out the terracotta with obsidian as some people suggested, i think it will help since the problem sometimes seems that the terracotta gets pushed by a piston and the redstone dust on top of it breaks (since obsidian can't be moved, and the terracotta shouldn't be moved in this build... it should help

So I tried to build this on bedrock in a single creative world and it doesn't work. The obsidian doesn't get pushed by the piston's, and the stairs don't even extend.

The obsidian cannot be pushed, and if the stairs aren’t extending them it means you must of made a mistake somewhere, I suggest you go and check back 👍

@@TomcoMC okay let me rephrase that, The obsidian doesn't allow the regular piston to push up into the sticky piston. I did everything exactly as you and it doesn't work, Maybe its the version of bedrock that doesn't let it work.
