I actually remember that storm, I lived on Long Island. Isles had a similar thing happen with a game I went to in 2007 against the Blackhawks at the coliseum, really awful snowstorm. Ironically like the Devils the Isles trounced the Hawks 7-3 and Yashin had the hat trick against Anderson.

You know, i wish one day the state can let the devils play just one last exibetion game at the meadowlands

TJ Tilghman That’s actually not a bad idea. Play their home exhibition games throughout the state, even in Flyers territory.

It would depend on way more than the state letting them play there. From the looks of the concrete floor shown in this video, it seems like it's been redone since it's hockey days which means there are no more anchors for the boards, and no more pipes in the concrete for the chiller system, and they probably don't have the chiller in the building anymore. A chiller/compressor system costs $1M, not including the cost of redoing the pipes and concrete, so it's definitely not gonna happen for exhibition games. But it would be a cool place for a college team to play

Wow, it's amazing that they let them into the old arena! It's a shame that they don't do public events here anymore. Honestly, when I saw the arena, the condition still looks pristine. As far as I know, they still use this arena for private events, such as video productions or rehearsals for concerts at MetLife Stadium. And I know the old box offices on the lower floor are used by NJSEA EMS.

They recently used it as a television soundstage for a cop drama. The arena was recently profiled for it because it was such an unusual concept. Every single set for the show was laid out somewhere on the Meadowlands floor. Pretty cool, even though I also wish it was used for public events

An excellent bit of Devils folklore. Would never happen today bc the safety-kill-joys have taken over

It kind of looks like a typical Nets game at that time. Same crowd size too.

@ 4:47 what is Fotiu throwing into the stands? When sports franchises weren't money hungry monsters that they are now...
@theOGhuggybear3 жыл бұрын
When Fotiu was young he used to sit in the upper deck cheap seats when he went to games, and as a way of never forgetting where he started he made a habit of throwing pucks up to the fans there after warm-ups.

I was at this game but never got a patch because we did not make it until the 3rd period started and they let us in for free at that time
