When I started going to a personal trainer a couple years ago she asked me what I do for exercise. I told her I did 20 minutes a day on the stationary bike during the week and an hour a day on the weekends. She told me to stop doing that immediately because it was probably just going to kill my gains. She was right.

Totally agree on doing what you enjoy as a workout. I tried the gym, different classes, bikram yoga, running, and then I tried CrossFit and honestly, never looked back. It's the only sport I have stuck with and it's the only thing that has shifted my outlook at fitness. If before I'd do sport for looks and overall health, with CF I workout for health and strength, looks just come as a bonus and are not on the top of my list, although it has delivered the best looks for me anyway. I guess, as long as you can stick to something you truly enjoy, you will see results you are looking for.

@Sal...you mentioned that you started to work out when you were 14. I have a 15 year old son that wants to workout more. Any suggestions on how he should start out?

Okay, I have a question about soreness. I workout and I’m sore for days and I fear if I workout while sore my muscles won’t repair correctly or if at all. By the time I am ready to work that muscle out again it has been more than a few days. I have been eating my protein and getting good sleep. I just can’t figure it out and I hope you could help.

You most likely need to ease up on the weight or number of sets/ reps you’re doing. If you watch enough of Mind Pump videos, you’ll here them say, esp Adam, that you want to end your workouts energized, not exhausted. When you’re extremely sore, you’ve overdone it. Do enough to feel that you’ve done something. Practice the moves, form, and not beat yourself up. Make small progress over time. Like minute 32:00 of this video.

Doubt an amateur is able to overtrain. Just inexperienced. Use correct form and smash rep after rep and set after set out until your strong - simple

Had the same problem for years. I was so frustrated because everyone around me seemed to work out every day. I drastically reduced my weight training (I have to say that I also run and cycle and therefore have limited time) to 2x/week. It's a class where we do 5 compound lifts, 3 sets with mostly 10-12 reps. Total workout time excluding warm up and cool down is only ~30 mins - I swear to you I've never made bigger and faster progress in my entire life. Because whenever I have my class I know my muscles had time to recover. I enjoy all my workouts so much more. The soreness isn't completely gone but it's very mild compared to before and usually gone after two days. Also stretching has been an absolute game changer for me. I do 2x 10 mins a day and it's the best thing I have ever done for my body. You can do it! :)

148.00 sal refers to someone dabbling in anorexia????? Sal its not a hobby it's a lethal life threatening condition people suffer with for years. The blonde who he is talking to does a podcast called pursuit of wellness and she doesn't even refer to all the work she's had done. Look at that nose seriously and definitely had work done on her forehead. Sal was definitely roided up for the interview 😂😂😂
@Angel28310 сағат бұрын
You're smoking crack dude(ette). You can absolutely dabble in anorexia before it being a full blown condition, bulimia is the same, drugs same. MOST people "dabble" with anything before being overtaken by it....that is the very reason you don't mess around with it. SO WHAT if she has had "work done". That is her business and does not negate the advocacy for wellness. Sal is not displaying any type of "roid" behavior. Sheesh, I suggest you take a good long look in the mirror and work on yourself, stop projecting on others. If you don't like and appreciate the content here MOVE ON. Simple as that.
