I absolutely love your videos. I was in the grocery store the other day and the woman in front of me in line had a bottle of wine. She was explaining to the checker that she was a wine novice and asked for any advice. The checker shrugged then they both turned to me for my input. I referred them to The Wine Folly!

Worth mentioning that the vinery producing the Nussbaumer Gewürztraminer is located in the town Tramin. And actually the name of the grape variety GewürzTRAMINer stems from exactly this town, as this variety has been popular in the area since the 11th century.

@LiveLifeLasting3 жыл бұрын
Going ther almost every year and yes it literally is the most beautiful place on earth. Come in September when the grapes are all ripe and most already had their vacation. Wines there are so diverse, so many different grape varieties that I believe everyone will find some they like there. Highly recommend alto adige, great quality and great value go hand in hand. I literally have been to all major wineries there at least once and Elena Walch and Cantina Terlan are my favorite. Greetings from Germany 🤗
@eymerichinquisitore90222 жыл бұрын
Brava. I must say that you have been well advised with those three wineries, they are actually among the best in that area and the products you have chosen for the video are among their top. I would add from the Terlano winery their immortal reserves of white wine such as Sauvignon Quartz and Pinot Bianco Vorberg and then one of the best sweet wines in Italy; the precious nectar of the Termeno winery: Tramin, a masterpiece made from dried Gewurtztraminer grapes.

Kudos Madeline for going beyond Piedmont and Tuscany in your Italian wine appreciation and education. The wines of Alto Adige/Sud Tirol are pretty amazing. Even entry level wines are often higher quality than their counterparts from other regions/countries. I've found some of their white cuvees to be intriguing and fascinating. As for other single variety whites, both Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc from there is quite different from other places; and they do also make CS and Merlot as well

You did a wine deal where you had a brief, best of training for France. I wonder if you could do the same thing for Italy. In fact, if these exact wines were available, I don't think I would be the only one to buy them immediately.

Great vid, Madeline! I just picked up an Alto Adige pinot grigio to try tonight; and as a pinot noir enthusiast, I'm definitely going to have to track down some schiava. @@winefolly Ha. It was one of six bottles (with my Coravin) that night, so yeah, it was pretty great! The grigio was VERY restrained on the nose, but the palate brought chalk, dandelions, and something like grapefruit, with a slightly metallic, medium-length finish. COMPLETELY different from what I'm used to for the varietal, so it was ver intriguing. Anyway, thanks for the Adige tips!

Nice material and quite a good selection of wines :) I love Südtirol and its wines. I have a cellar full of Lagrein, Gewurztraminer, Goldmuskateller, Kerner and others. I just don't fancy Vernatch. I'd like to highly recommend you Lagrein from Kellerei Meran and Kellerei Bozen. Year 2020 was fantastic for this variety in general and there are a few great picks in the market. Prestige Riserva is my personal favorite. As far as Gewurztraminer is concerned, Nussbaumer is The King, but there are a few high princes: Campaner from Kaltern, Graf from Meran, Ceslar from Bozen, Arenis from Kurtatsch. Have a good fun!

Well, I can carry on 😂 Goldmuskateller Passito Sissi is by far the best sweet wine I've ever tried. Made out of dried Muscat and Gewürztraminer grapes is an event by itself! Thick, oily, aromatic. Worth the price !

I appreciate the good pronounciation of the german and italian names! It's actually not that easy.
@anonnieman3 жыл бұрын
I don't know where you are from, but speaking both languages and having lived in Italy and still living in Germany, I would not necessarily say that she pronounces them very correctly. That being said, she does her best and for native English speakers the sounds of these languages are difficult to simulate, so I don't think it would offend anyone.
@Gisbertus_Voetius3 жыл бұрын
@@anonnieman Das stimmt sicher.
@anonnieman3 жыл бұрын
@Gisbertus_Voetius3 жыл бұрын
@anonnieman3 жыл бұрын
