I strongly disagree...I can think of a number actresses who are just as beautiful. Michelle Pfeiffer and Charlize Theron come to my mind. The females in the Golden age of Hollywood were built up by the studio's and groomed by them. That doesn't exist for today's actresses.

Most of today's ROLES (for women) lack it. ~ You know, so many of these comments offer unfavorable comparisons to women of today, but we are not the ones controlling this situation. It is Incredibly frustrating. But when women speak out or demand more power, we are maligned as unfeminine- yet treated as shrews, hysterics, strident and shrill (ironically for anyone "unfeminine," as these are insults typically reserved for females. See also: Nag; Wet-blanket.) It all makes me feel very sad and disheartened: it's as though a chance is being missed. People are maligning feminism without knowing what it really is; they are choosing not to listen because they think they know what it is we have to say. The lost Dignity referred to in nearly every thread relating to this video IS missed; it is respect we all need. Everyone benefits when women have greater autonomy.

Not quite. What Hedy Lamarr's invention and patent was for a means to automatically change radio frequency while transmitting and for a receiver capable of following the change so that a message can be broken up into segments transmitted over several frequencies such that it cannot be intercepted in its entirety except by a receiver that is synchronized to the frequency changes. In it's most broadest terms it influenced WifFi and BluRay, but such ideas were used in many telecommunications where the data stream is broken up into several packets and transmitted even over different routes and this is one of the capabilities of the Internet at the lowest layer of its architecture, and also other non-Internet communications architecture such as SNA. If you want to read what Hedy Lamarr's invention is all about, it is still a register patent which is available online at patents.google.com/patent/US2292387

@@youngsteph1 I think the answer can be summarized in one word. Feminism. The feminist movement redirected a little girl's desire to be desirable to men when she got older to desiring to dominate and control men. Back in the day, there were only two sexes each with clearly defined roles. Today, there are dozens of genders with the focus being on "me", "I", and "my". It was extremely important for a little girl to marry a man when she got older so she not only tried to look desirable (to men) but she also spoke with a sexy tone of voice. Today, sexy is being a bitch, bossing men around, and for some covering their bodies with tattoos and piercings. In short, the feminist movement is an extremely selfish movement which isn't very sexy.

Whenever I watch movies or interviews, read books or listen to music from that era I get a knot in my stomach, in a good way. @Hello There, I can relate except with me is a longing to the Victorian era. Whenever I see a beautiful old Victorian home being demolished to make room for a parking lot or an ugly square modern building I want to say. "No, stop!" "Don't destroy history". "That type of construction and architecture will never come again!". I feel like they're destroying the soul of those old houses and as for me I feel incredible sad when they come down and all there's left is rubble. How sad 😔😔.

My mother’s favorite actress was Ingrid Bergman; and my father’s was Jean Harlow. He always liked the platinum blondes of that era. These actresses were not only very talented but gorgeous as well. The elegance shown in those movies made Hollywood the golden age for sure. It cannot be repeated again, it was a unique era of talent, beauty, elegance and classy. Despite the developments in cosmetology and cinematography, the movie makers of that era seemed to know how to make up and photograph the stars in such a way as to enhance their beauty in a more stunning way. They also seem to be more mature than present day actresses, possessing a greater screen presence and exuding a sensuality that today's actresses lack. Not sure why, but back then, they weren't just celebrities, they were movie stars.

It is true, beauty, talent, and Rita Hayworth's dancing! I would, and still do, watch a film just to see Rita, or Ingrid Bergman, or a number of the others here. Then I think of today's actresses - actually, I find it hard to bring any to mind. There are none today that I would watch a movie just because they are in it, but tell me Sophia Loren is in one and I'm there. I think Bergman as she was in Casablanca is the ultimate, though (just 19 at the time, yet she seemed so mature). There was an innocence and sweetness of character that modern feminism has just drained out of most women.

@@parsifal40002 Forgot to mention that most of these in the 21st Century are shallow and vain. Many of those on the list also poured heir hearts and souls into patriotic efforts to defeat empires like Japan and Germany that were run by Nazis, Socialism and Fascists! Some in today's parade of lovelies would march down the street with Antifa that says it is anti-fascist, but is the definition of fascist tactics and mindsets! The depth of their true convictions regarding mankind is as a shallow as condensation on a bathroom mirror!

All these women are indeed lovely! I would have added Betty Grable, Bette Davis, Lucille Ball, Donna Reed, Judy Garland, Ann Southern just to name a few quick. Betty Grable was a favorite of mine. Nick at night used to play 3am old movies & my sister and I would watch them during the summer time👍

The women back then were STUNNING. They seemed so much more mature than the actresses today. Very poised, sensual and just out and out gorgeous. Too bad that has been lost with the actresses of today.

Thank you Claudia for compiling this. Yes, it's all about preference but it's also my belief that only very few (men) can ever recognise or fully appreciate the most beautiful women of all. So my top choice, without hesitation or regret. Jean Simmons.

To all the people bitching about this lovely video,remember...it's a piece of fun. It's one persons take on female beauty, that all. It's not about colours and numbers, whether someone is black or white or anything else for that matter. If you disagree with the choices, compile your own video..it's both easy and free.Just take your silly comments elsewhere and give credit to the uploader here for making something that is enjoyable to look at. Well done MonroeSmile, take a bow...love it (esp your choice of no.1)..

5. Sofia Loren and Audrey Hepburn are so poised it can be detractive. It's like a veneer that hides their true beauty so you rarely even see it. 4. Ava Gardner, Hedy Lamar, and Rita Hayworth are about equal in my opinion. 3. Loretta Young and Vivienne Leigh who I think were more cute than beautiful but better actresses. 2. Brigitte Bardot and Claudia Cardinale. I think they are more attractive because they have a natural, earthy, more realistic style. I might also include Grace Kelly. 1. Gene Tierney. Probably the best looking. To me a lot of them are not much better looking than current tv actresses or pop stars, such as Marilyn Monroe or Dorothy Laramor. Great video.

Marilyn Monroe the most iconic and beautiful not in the top 10? Lolol...Ingrid Bergman and Grace Kelly not in your Top 10??? Lololol...it's a really bad choice i think...BB or Lana don't make my top 20 and Lolo and Sophia are is a Joke...Vivian Leigh is no way n°1... she isn't só beautiful as Ava or Elizabeth perhaps a food copy of Ava...she had this movie GWTW so in no other she looks like so good ...it's your choice but a very bad personal if you want...lol...

i really like how you did each actress. You used short clips from several sources to give a wider variety of looks to each one. That's way better than what most people do. Thanks for doing this. I learned about a few new ones as well.
