We have 2 OLD Chevy dump trucks on the farm. A 39 and a 41 both shed kept still running ALL ORIGINAL. i really want to throw a turbo LS in one of them. I've never seen another 39 dump truck. The 41 was painted back in the 90s but i think my grandfather brushed it on hahaha i found a pocket notebook in the old shop with notes in it from when my grandfather rebuilt the dump cylinder and how much it cost. It's pretty damn cool

I always appreciate the improvements and upgrades that you guys post on the FabRats channel. I stopped watching this one at 5:37 to express my frustration with the camera framing because I would have enjoyed it a lot more if the cameraman had given us a bit more footage of the parts with Paul’s hands doing the work instead of panning back to his face so quickly. It’s really hearing Paul’s voice and seeing his hands working that keep my interest. I just like seeing the work getting done. I know Hunter is probably on a learning curve, so please take this as constructive feedback. Thanks. I will go back now and watch the rest of the video. I had to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening. Love all you guys.

The secret to round clamps is to get some bar stock, drill it and tap it to your bolt size, weld it to your tube (one on each side) before you cut it, then cut through all three. After it is cut, drill out the threads on one half for bolt clearance. Now you have a clamp that is perfectly aligned.

I could help notice something and wanted to help everyone with some simple advice. When you were milling the dash cluster Aluminum it was hard to watch… 😂 Climb Cutting is not a good way to get a good finish on the milling machine. You always want your chips thrown away from your path. Also it’s a great way to get heavy chattering and can even be the reason why you break end mills. Great job on the projects and I hope this was helpful.

Well I just placed an order that netted me 2 entries. Little painful to have a T-shift and 3 stickers cost $50US turn into well over $100CAD with shipping, conversion ect. However, when I win my Coronet it will all be worth it! I can't wait for the logistical nightmare of getting a car to Canada that was won in the US, but bring it on, lol. I am very grateful that Paul and the others thought to include us in the contest. Pretty much any kind of giveaway like this is limited to the United States. @21:27 That tilt is referred to as the 'anti-submarine' seat posture. If you are wondering how come, it's bc if you stop fast you won't slide forward and end up submarining under the steering wheel.

Great video guys as always!! Love what y'all are doing with the 42, it's going to be really nice. I was curious if the frt. glass frame couldn't be fixed, could you use the 1 from the donor truck & swap out the glass with glass from the bad frame. I love that Coronet, you guys have done an excellent job with it. It's going to make an excellent car for someone. I'm not sure what's going on this morning but I've never read so many negative comments in 1 video before especially over the things they didn't like! It's crazy! Don't listen to them y'all do an outstanding job with every build & video!!! I think they're just hoping y'all will mention their comment when you do your next cantankerous comments video. Sure is a sad way to get recognition if you ask me. Thanks again for all y'alls hard work and for bringing us along for the ride!!
@mattsomerville61312 жыл бұрын
One thing to note when running that mill is to be sure you aren't climb cutting with that end mill. If you are taking a heavy enough cut the rotation of the end mill will pull itself through the cut scary fast. With that power feed you might be ok especially when it is just cutting aluminum, but a heavy cut in some steel could be a different story. On my CNCs I purposely climb cut but on my manual machines I run conventional.
@markpetersen9122 жыл бұрын
Good advice. However, if you are looking for a decent finish on a final pass you can set the table locks to snug and climb mill with little fear of it grabbing.

You guys might want to box the front of the frame real soon, we did a 56 Checy which had a much beefer front frame and had a small block with a TH400 installed prior. The guy wanted power steering and disk brakes. We drove it to the shop and it was basically scary. We installed the disks, power steering and modern shocks, and the problem was the same. Then we noticed that the front frame had about an inch of lateral and hight movement when we had it on the floor doing some odds and ends. We ended up boxing the frame back to under the cab, and OMG then would stay on the road.
@MastroAdventures2 жыл бұрын
No need to box the frame if it has an X-member
@jamesrogers63762 жыл бұрын
Shush. Let him learn from this build. He needs a lot of lessons learned from doing it himself. Nobody can tell him anything.
@thomasheer8252 жыл бұрын
@@MastroAdventures the 42 has a no cross member, remember the old dipper six had this cross member mounted to the front of the engine. The same was true with that cursed 56, that thing was a problem going somewhere to happen. We eventually got it right after we fixed the upgrades someone had done before. A front cross member makes a significant improvement. Remember that Dodge Ram's with 4 x 4 had that death wobble issue, that steering box lower pivot helped but still the frame moved. Had one for over a decade and noticed it when I jacked it up from the frame, not the axle. Beefed up the frame in the front and the death wobble went away. Even with an AS in Mechanical Technology while in the Navy paid off, math can be your friend and physics is the glue holding the universe together.

I love your 37 Jimmy truck that you will use for your roll back. Two things would make it perfect. Hood ornament from a 37 chevy and the side bonnet bowties from a 37 or 38 chevy truck would look good. A chevy LS or a 396/454 motor to replace that GMC 4 banger might also be good for when it is time to do the burnout.
