I love my custom grade 1911s. But this is on another level. The single action can be cocked and locked and thr single action is not bad. Take up the usual slack from a double/single action, and the let off is fairly light. 15 round capacity beats every other 45 semi auto. Beats the HK USP of 10 rounds, beats the Glock 21 ar 13 rounds. Designed and built to be a battle pistol. Rugged, reliable, impervious to weather, rain, snow, salt. Just a beast to take when the SHTF.

I had the standard fnx 45. Traded it in to get my FN 15 rifle. I do miss her but I don't regret the trade. A beastly pistol for sure!! I had the fnx 9mm too, extremely reliable pistol and in all honesty, I couldn't tell a difference in recoil between the two. I'm definitely going to get a black tactical later on. Y'all can keep your single stack 1911s!!

My FNX-45 T is the second FN pistol that I bought. Since I don't have a suppressor, I bought an FNX-45 (non tactical) barrel for normal use and therefore not have the thread protector backing off when I am shooting it. It is a great gun and enjoyable to shoot, plus 15 rounds of 45.

Bought the regular FNX45 when it came out because it was the highest capacity 45acp with 15+1 rounds. Solid and reliable, plus it key holed rounds all the way up to 10 feet, mind you this is a 45acp. I love my G21 but the FNX45 is "one bad mama jamma"

I was very fortunate and managed to pick up three of these. I have one straight up factory, one set up for the .46 Rowland and one set up for the .45 SUPER. I did install a Zohan recoil spring and a Rex Silentium Glompensator Muzzle Brake to the ones not modified by Rowland. This is my personal CCW, I carry it in the woods when hunting or hiking, it's just a great all around pistol. It really is a great pistol in every sense of the word. And yes, I do have my Glock friends who are trying to lead me to a saving knowledge of the Glock. I let one of then try my pistol out and suddenly they had to be sent to Glock reprograming center in Austria. I hope they get out soon.

@@cfroemming17 Partner, I have shown it to friends and the first thing they cry about is how heavy it is, and they aren't wrong but even with a twenty round magazine, it is only a couple ozs heavier than a 1911A1 was. Seriously. I carry mine in a shoulder holster and love it, just straight up love it. Oh, and when I go shooting with them, they all want to shoot my gun and love it. But they keep telling me how great their Glocks all are. Mind you you, if you like a Glock, that's fine with me, it ain't gonna hurt my feelings. I just can't get used to the Glock at all and just want to wash my hands after touching one.

Haha..no,I'm definitely with you on Glocks. I respect them but they're way overrated. I myself love the 1911 however capacity is the 1911's weak spot. Hence the FNX45. It's all of the 1911s strength with none of its weaknesses. The controls are even very similar. Minus the beavertail safety. I appendix carry mine with a American concealment IWB holster. I'm 6'4 and 260 lbs so I can get away with it..🤣

@@cfroemming17 I never was a fan of WB holsters for CC, that's just me. I'm 6'-4" and heavier than I care to admit anymore, but I'm a big guy like you are and a compact or a subcompact pistol I can't get a good grip on it and if I can't hold it than shooting it isn't gonna work either. I have average and smaller than average friends who think a Glock is perfect for them. I told them that pistols are like a nice suits, they need to fit the wearer, and pistols need to fit the shooter.

@Darkside Justice I’m loving it! It is now my bedside gun partnered by my Daniel defense .300 blk. I noticed that loading the 14th round into the magazine was really hard so I only have 13 in magazine and 1 in chamber. Not using the extra 2 round available but oh well, I feel like I have a less chance of jamming just due to how hard it was to put the 14th round. It’s a comfort thing and 14 shot of .45 should be enough right? Life is great being a gun addict huh

I bought the standard FNX45 several years ago. I paid around $700. I looked at the tactical model and just couldn’t justify the extra three to four hundred. Having said that I love this gun. It’s a big gun but not overly so. I’m not a big guy and this feels great in my hand and I can shoot it very well. Don’t forget 15 rounds of 45 acp, cmon. Believe it or not you can carry it concealed. Of course it’s in a pancake holster OWB. Now I only do it in the cooler seasons when wearing a cover garment.

Agreed, also of note if you have the slide off and happen to touch the trigger and reset the disconnector you must push it back down before attempting to put the slide back on as it cannot travel past it when it’s up.

I have the non tactical version of this and I absolutely love it as a combat pistol. I actually used it as my EDC CC for three years. The only down side to it is the trigger is sort of meh compared to other pistols I carry now and trying to get a holster for it is a huge paint. There also isn't a market for aftermarket parts, or at least there wasn't the last time I looked.

I have the standard FNX .45 and it's great. I donr like DA/SA pistols but the FNX was designed to be carried and used cocked and locked, condition 1 just line a 1911. The trigger in SA is squishy as in all DA/SA mechanisms, but it's fairly light and livable. 15 rounds of big fat .45 slugs makes this a perfect sidearm to my FN SCAR 17 as my bug out kit. Easy to shoot, weather resistant, impervious to rain and snow and salt, it is a superb sidearm.

@@veg1run im sorry I am a pretty new shooter so my skills are pretty terrible lol atm (but am getting better thanks to the my local range opening back up). But my friend who's a cop really likes it said it was easy to shoot and he might be picking one up. So from his perspective yeah it was pretty accurate but again he's a really good shot. But yeah I love shooting this gun and picking up the front sights is really easy vs the other pistols I've shoot. Go for it i would say don't think you'll be disappointed.

Great review. I’ve been shooting my FNX 45 Tactical for about 2 years now. This is by far the most accurate and best handling .45 I own, and the easiest to shoot “well”. I haven’t suppressed it yet, but I’m working on it. My Glock 21 gen 4 is a great gun too, but my FN out shoots it by a long shot. Pun intended! Thanks for the great video! Keep em comin’!

If u going to put a RmR spend the money get the halo sun. Vortex venom is ok. I put the viridian X5L on it. Little to no muzzle flip. Stay on target. Easy double taps. It’s just a big weapon. I have big hands. It fits me perfect. Get talon grip. Grip texture is aggressive.

i got the fnx45...didnt need all the tactical stuff...i have 10 mags for it...it is one of my most accurate guns..i've never had a failure in over 2k rounds...the trigger is awesome...i highly recomend this 45 because of the accuracy and reliability ...either version will outperform any 45 imo...16 rounds of 45 speaks with authority...and is easier to use for room to room in a home defense role.

PPQ45 tops all. Maybe some pricey 1911 competition pistols are comparable in ease of accuracy, trigger, ergonomics. I have a Taylor Freelance +4 baseplate giving me 16+1 .45 ACP which makes it even easier to shoot. PPQ45 also isn’t obnoxiously big.

This pistol is amazing and one of my absolute favorites. 15 rounds of 45 ACP on tap is nothing to balk at and while you can actually carry this thing IWB in the winter with a flannel pretty easily, when it's loaded up with 15 rounds of 230 grain JHP's? It's a bit heavy after a while but that's not what this is designed for anyway. My application is laptop bag back up pistol. Mine came with 5 magazines I keep them all loaded up with Underwood 230 grain JHP's and keep them in by bag and the Vortex Venom already installed and zeroed, hasn't gone out of zero in more than 100 rounds, if for any reason I need that extra hard hitting back up, it's there and ready to go. I never feel under armed with my EDC and this in my laptop bag, those coupled with my GHM9 in my truck means anyone that effs around is definitely going to find the eff out. Best 45 ACP that's not a 19 or 2011 on the planet and certainly the best of the polymer framed options in my humble opinion.

I was looking at both, but the mk 23 is the size of a desert eagle and only holds 12 rounds in the magazine. The Glock 21 holds 13, and the fnx holds 15 and is so much smaller than the h&k. Plus the fnx is half the cost!

I agree and I disagree. They should have run with FN, but the SIG is not trash. I shoot the two side by side and they both rock. Clean em, oil em and go shoot. The 320 X5 Legion is a hell of an accurate shooter no issues so far.

Really coming to like my FNS9c once the right side slide release smoothed out and after adding the Apex striker. Does the right side slide release function as well as the left side on the FNX?

I bought this FNX, tactical 45, bought extra clips was planning on using it as my main battle weapon…. The FNX tactical has several design flaws first and foremost the magazine well…. Has problems excepting a mag, if not inserted, exactly right second problem the mag release after extended period of wearing your FNX tactical, your magazine might be released. also, I have had problems with the safety return into fire position…. I love my FNX. But be aware. ;)

I have had none of those problems and mine is 10 years old. It’s been nothing but stellar. I don’t think FN would put out a bad on but it could happen. Send it in for repair as those issues are not normal.

Unlikely as they seem to be migrating toward 9mm only. The FNS has a model in .40, the newer 509 series is all 9mm.

Say no to short slide tabs, common to all polymer pistols- give me FULL Length slide rails like my metal Sig Sauer P2XX pistols - like my nrw old stock P227 Elite, and for the same cost of $1000-1300. Just bought fnx 45 tactical. Recommended grain for self defense? Targeting? Type? Brass or is nickel plated ok?

The standard round for .45 is 230 grain, most companies design and test their guns for that weight. Most target ammo is brass cased (do not use steel case) and most defense ammo is nickel plated because it resists corrosion better than brass for rounds that will be left in the chamber for an extended amount of time. Both should work fine in this gun.

@Dio Black , I don't know where you got your numbers, but they are considerably off compared to what buffalo bore has on their website. I converted my FNX, and have been very satisfied with the performance. The only issue is that I have to be picky about bullet style for consistency, but with the right loads it has been 100%. 15 rounds of 255 gr. HC-FN @ 1,300 fps / 957 ft. lbs is nothing to be sneezed at.

Going from the tip of the trigger to the flat just before the beavertail curve is 3.28 inches (the Hundredths may vary a bit as it matters exactly where you hit on that backstrap).

If capacity is not the issue go with sig. hammer fired all metal and now cut for rmr type sites. I have a West German 220 in 45 and a 220 in 10mm. Expensive but well made and worth it. I also have this gun and it is an awesome piece.

I just bought an FNX 45 tactical. I field stripped it and noticed there is wear on the rails and it was dirty. Did anyone else experience this with their new FNX?

FN factory tests their guns beyond the mandatory 1 round, unless it is significant wear it may just be the test firing.
