I cant get over the germany timelapse. In the beginning there was the war with france but then they formed an alliance and other european countries popped up around them. Really great to see. Also i love the way the belgian flag turns into mustard and ketchup for the german bratwurst :D

I only heard about /r/place today, as of writing this reply. It's so interesting I'm now watching as much as I can. It reminds me of the time a guy sold a pixel of space on a website for $1 each although this is less about capitalism and more about team work. Even if Germany swallowed France, the people of both flags worked together to build (or re-build) their flag

Yey!! I was a strong part of r/SquareSpiral which did indeed include negotiating, forming alliances and protecting each others' art ^^ Although screw Finland, they expanded over our art even though we had only ever tried to be friends with everyone lol But it was good fun, we actually came together pretty well, especially considering our art wasn't based on anything pre-existing e.g. countries or games, literally just a simple pattern we all quite liked... Nice video too :)

It wasnt r/Finland that extended the flag, it was vandalism by trolls, they tried extending other flags too, then r/Finland added the moomi-characters there

The 2022 was Not that different, war enemies and collaboration! Thank you again I was Part of the omori Defence group. Germany was actually pretty Kind and let us built stuff in their flag! WE have 2 characters from our Game Hidden in their flag!

i dont know if the same happened in 2017 but this years was heavily edited at the end. they fixed allot of the lgbt flags in the final screenshot that where taken over by a streamer. and they had overlays of everyones art to clean up and fix parts that where out of place. felt like a bit of a cheat but i get why they did it because allot of communities where under attack by 4chan

I think one of my absolute favorite moments of alliance within r/Place was when the rainbow was on a course to run over Waldo. Instead of just drawing the rainbow under Waldo someone drew two portals from the game Portal around Waldo and the rainbow went through that. Most of Waldo has been consumed by the Void but you can still clearly see where the rainbow entered and exited the portals if you look at the Italian flag.
