I did this a year ago, it made me speak to people I’d normally never speak to. I ended up making good friends and connections that I stayed in touch with. Plus, don’t have to worry about anyone dragging you to something you have no interest in. Can stay and leave as long as I want.

Demetria...Big Facts on all of those! I'm the planner in my family. I would plan for my wife and kids when they were younger. I'm still going on vacations with my wife now that my kids are grown but I so look forward to having to go on business trips and conferences by myself for all the reasons that you mentioned.

at a buffet, i personally sneak corndogs into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 corndogs in my jacket pockets. it then, is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corndogs thinking they were part of the buffet.

I just did a solo travel to Vegas. It was cool because I could just gamble on my own, didn't feel rushed. Got to use the fitness center and then chill at the MGM pool for how long I wanted. I will say Vegas probably isn't a solo spot though. I'll try international next time for solo I think.

I have traveled solo so many times and I LOVE it! I used to travel to Europe a lot for work and I’d always add extra time on the end for my own solo adventures. I didn’t waste a minute. I saw so much, experienced so much because I was alone! And I met so many amazing people as well. Ireland, Scotland, Germany, France, etc.

Demetria, I couldn't agree with you more. Ever since I started traveling 2 years ago, with my first travel that took me to Boston Massachusetts, and then Fort Lauderdale, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Montreal, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Chicago and in 2 weeks Las Vegas, I found some fantastic comfort in traveling by myself. I don't need to have unnecessary company around me to make my trips an unpleasant experience. I love traveling by Amtrak and Demetria I am in the progress of planning a European trip and yes that trip is definitely a solo trip. But if you meet the right person who share the same interests and traits, then traveling with someone that you feel comfortable with can also be a fantastic experience, but Demetria again I 100% agree with you regarding traveling solo. For me it has been the best experience that I can ever enjoy.

How I became the solo traveler in my life now is from an experience that happened about 38 years ago when I went on a class trip to Europe with my classmates and the coordinator was a real crap and to me I thought the coordinators were prejudice. After the treatment that I and others had gotten, Demetria I pledged as I was getting older, never ever,ever travel with others again. And as I honored that pledge, traveling has been a fantastic pleasure for me. I could have never been happier. And Demetria, since I think of you as a friend now, one advice that I will give you if you do go to New Orleans Louisiana. Go there in the winter months, because in the summer months it gets dangerously hot there. I mean 120 degree weather. As a matter of speaking, go to New Orleans Louisiana now. The food is fantastic and you can ride the trolley from one end of New Orleans to the other end. And Demetria, travel Amtrak (Take A Roomette out, you will love it) and enjoy the scenery. It will be an experience that you will treasure for the rest of your life.

I can travel and do things with others, but I am best on my own. Call me selfish, but I like being in charge. I don’t want to do things because someone else does. Number 5 is such a great point. Had a trip to Singapore for a wedding last June. Although I was with a group, we all arrived at separate times & stayed in different parts of the city. Long story short, I met some kind locals at their family owned store and eventually ended up having dinner with them for the night.

I was always scared to go anywhere by myself so I kept inviting people to go on trips with me but the downside to that was the people I brought were the worst type of companions to travel with so September of '23 I finally took a solo trip by myself and did everything I wanted to do And it was scary at first but it does help you build confidence and get you out of your comfort zone but at the end of that trip I was far more happy than traveling with anyone else.

Demetria just be careful traveling solo. You are a beautiful lady, traveling in unfamiliar parts of the world. Make sure at the very least that someone you trust ALWAYS knows where you are for safety reasons. Many people unfortunately have vanished into thin air traveling by themselves, particularly women.
