The problem with the block shedding is that it's so binary. A defenders is either blocked, or he isn't. There's no real struggle. You don't get to see that a blocker is getting beat, and then react appropriately; the defender just instantly swims or rips through the blocker is pancakes the QB.

Meh I kinda disagree with this. I'm not very good on defense and don't really understand the art of route jumping and shit so I generally play as a lineman on defense and you can definitely see the struggle of a lineman trying to break free. I just got the game today on PC and it's my first Madden since 25. I'm digging it so far. Won my first pre-season game with my Titans even though I threw two picks with Blaine Gabbert after Mariota came out haha. I really love the player animation and the way the players feel. It takes some getting used to but momentum and speed really have an effect this year on player movement.

I like how fast the pass rush is. Having a good O-Line will finally be important, and it adds more strategy to the game which is never a bad thing. For years people in Salary Cap Mode have used an O-Line made of 60ovr players, hopefully the new pass rush kills that trend.

Honestly the quicker block sheds sounds like a good thing. Last year QBs seemed to have way to much time. I'd like to see the pocket gradually collapse though rather than him suddenly breaking away from what looked like a good block.

I dig the "Pressure happens in less than 5 seconds" bit, Especially in something like "Sim Mode", because the pass rush has been neutered for so long in Madden, every game is a shootout - there's no point in having a good DLine if the 4 man rush can't generate any pressure.

With the block shedding the reason sacks are probably happening so quick is because you aren’t moving around and stepping up in the pocket which is something quarterbacks do a ton in real life to buy time for those longer throws. They’re making it to where you can’t just stand still in the pocket because it rarely happens in real life that a QB gets to stand still for more than 3 seconds. You’ll have to maneuver around the pocket.

Moving in the pocket helps very little this year, as the DT right in front of you will just shed as soon as you step up. It always helps a little to move in the pocket, but it doesn't buy you much extra time consistently this year. It's also harder to step up because of the new locomotion, the motion wants to pull you backwards, so it's hard to get moving forward after the dropback.

EA needs to drop Madden from the title. It needs to be NFL football and they need to get all the companies involved who broadcast games such as ABC , CBS, FOX, NBC and NFL network (possibly ESPN) that way games will feel more realistic in presentation alone. Use different play by play guys depending on network the game is supposed to be on. This would really improve Franchise mode, put gamebreaks in the game with tickets that pop up so you see what goes on in other games. Have a end of week post week wrap up show with highlights. NFL 2k5 had things like this which made it much better. Before each primetime game have a mini pre game show even. This all may have to wait until next gen but I think it would be a huge improvement.

Crazy how the older games have the pro bowl and more to do, but since 2013 it’s literally been copy and paste in the sense that you build a team and play. There’s not offense or defense coordinator. You can still select the team you play on as a player (I hate it, wish they still had the draft), they took out the NFL combine...idk, to me it feels like they’re just ripping us off and being lazy with only adding controls and little things. But nothing new to the game. Overall I’m glad I tried the trial, saved me $60. Until the add something refreshing and fun to the game, I’m pretty much done with madden. 6yrs of the same game just being copied and pasted with different rosters and minor fixes to the controls just doesn’t do it for me

In 19 I noticed that receivers actually now is trying to fight for the high balls + Receivers dosen’t drop the ball everytine and can hold onto the ball during a hit. In 18 just a little touch from the defender makes the receiver drops the ball.

My big gripe about madden 18 was the boundary issues when throwing towards the sideline. Many times receivers would catch the ball with both feet out of bounds and it would somehow be ruled a catch even after review. That broke the game for me

I got it for "free" from having EA premier or else I wouldn't have picked it up and haven't since 2016. One of the issues I keep seeing are spying lineman jumping and intercepting passes that are ment for guys 15 yards down field when you bullet pass. This wouldn't be a huge deal if they ever batted them down, but some of these 300+ dudes have a vertical of 3 to 4 feet and can turn 180 degrees as soon as you release the pass.

Ea use to pride themselves on simulation football, it sounds like they're getting back to that to some degree. You shouldn't have all day long to throw passes, and block shedding should happen more often, that's real football. Hopefully they continue to build on what sounds like steps in the right direction.

I don't know what your talking about running easy with the ball in past years. Last year Your lineman would literally block for a second even with a gap the size of the Grand Canyon and it seemed no matter how fast your rb was that hole would close up in a second. It was frustrating

Upfield movement has been an issue forever... I think it's intentional, basically I think the devs have it in their head if they make turning upfield 'easy' then passing will take over and running will be completely pointless. In effect, they can't seem to find a middle ground, which I'm assuming is a development issue.

I agree that the game is pretty consistent each year in terms of quality. But that's the problem. They need to find ways to make it better instead of just keeping everything the same, keeping what we like while also not changing the things we don't like. I'm a fan of your channel and looking forward to the content this year, but I think several items on the negative list are nitpicks. Maybe I'm different from most, but I will probably only watch the halftime show a few times before I just auto-skip it. I don't pay that much attention to the celebrations. Clipping is irritating, but I also prefer it to excessive collision detection like they have done in the past. I just think there's a lot bigger issues with the game that we allow EA to ignore when we focus on things like this instead of fixing CFM logic and such.

I don’t understand EA’s explanation for why there’s no pro bowl. From what I understand, they say it’s because they can’t make all the helmets unique on the field. Like they can’t have 32 different teams helmets on one field. But, if that’s the problem, just give each team the same helmet. Make an NFC and an AFC helmet. Seems like an easy fix.

Eric, blocking in Madden is not the same as in the real game. In the real game blocksheds don't always lead to sacks or tackles. There is a wider field of play which allows the quarterback more space. That's how the game should play. You should be hard on it. Except if you are getting it for free.

In pass rush mode, dont have the players continually jump offsides. I never want to be in time eating mode with 5 minute quarters. The kicking game is horrible difficult to make xtra points from a k who hasnt missed all season? WR dont jump for the catch or defense on the ball? Cant change your base defense once the game starts, limited adjustments for cover 2 to to 46 defense, why???

Still trash looking. I hadn’t bought it in about 6 yrs until last year. Nothing but disappointment. Don’t have the latest gear, no mouthpiece option, no other custom add-ons. Players run stupid, game felt sluggish. CPU can pull of insane ints while my guys NEVER got ints. Wrs didn’t make catches that were routine catches when defenders hit them. The number of drops on the game were flat out ignorant. I had a game were Julio Jones dropped about 9 passes. Same with Antonio Brown. They didn’t even take hard hits. Just open enough to get the catch and dropped it upon DBs making contact with them. Madden has slowly gone down hill for ages and it’s sad. I wish we had NCAA football back. One things I always hated about madden is my 245lb running back should not be getting smoke by 180lb corners. All madden or not it’s not happening

I’m only getting it because I have a pc and it’s the first on pc in ages, one thing I’ve heard is that I will need to adjust my sliders a lot because some things are unbalanced.

I'm not at all into ultimate team but I'm into two things about madden. One is gameplay of course and second will be franchise. Those things are the only thing important to me. And some of the guys who has access to the madden 19 game says it better than it was for some maddens ago and I can't wait because I'm so jealous they get to play the game and I can't.

That's what the Long shots mode is and 2k is trash as well your player is only good if you spend money on VC 2k is pay to win pretty much I hope EA never does anything like that with Madden the Longshots story is great

EricRayweather Very good video! And personally I like the fact they upped the blockshedding. In real life QBs don't have 3-6secs every other play to throw. And increased pass rush will lessen the rollout cheese

Madden needs to add a real crowd for example in franchise mode if you go 0-16 there would be a lot of empty seats and it you go 16-0 the stadium will be sold out the also need to ad color visors

I still play Madden 16 on PS4 but I am thinking of upgrading to 19. I have a couple of questions relating to franchise mode. 2 things that irritate me in 16. For all I know they may have been fixed already in 17 or 18. The first is the treatment of random generated players that retire. I have played some franchises for many seasons and my early draft picks have retired and simply vanished. This even though the clearly had careers worthy of the Hall of Fame. It seems that only real players, I.e. players that were on the roster in 2015 can get into the Hog and not the randomly generated players. Have they changed that? The second questipn is whether it is now possible to just be a spectator? Sometimes I would like to watch a game without actually having to control any player. Can I do that in 19?

I used to create 16 teams in Madden 08 on PC and run seasons for them offline. Custom teams with custom uniforms, logos, fields, etc.. Is this possible in Madden 19? Also, wasn't this game supposed to be available for the PC this time? Is that the subscription only version or what?

I would play and probably love MUT if it wasn't pay to win....ive taken my 80-85OVR Teams that I built, and have beaten the 95-99OVR but seriously it's no fun when people are paying for legends with Jesus like ability...why even try to build a team when on day one or two people have ridiculous squads that you need too beat to progress faster...if you don't put money in, it feels like a real grind
