I feel like there's a good explanation for the gorosei being both immortal and younger than Im The op-op fruit only becomes available every now and then, and you have to give it to a slave and train them up to be able to perform the operation. After the operation's done? The fruit reappears somewhere in the world and might not be found by the government again for decades, or even centuries, so only a few celestial dragons have been made immortal at all.

If the Gorosei are indeed beings that have their lifespans prolonged via Imu or cloning, I have the general feeling Peter was the vain narcissist of the group and wanted to retain his vitality/youth because he didn’t want to be a geese while the others were pragmatic in being old to avoid suspicions. The theory on if the Gorosei were around since the void century completely falls apart when you look at the power hierarchy. The reason Imu is on top is because the they’ve been around over 800 years, a member of the original 20 overrules their descendants. If the Gorosei were as old, they’d be on the same level, not subservient to Imu.

The Gorosei could still be immortal... but did not receive the surgery until well after the void century. They could be variably some hundreds of years old or any amount something less than 800. The oldest looking (Ethan) might actually be the youngest, only having received the surgery a few decades ago... this could be one explanation for why his weapon is something crafted only relatively recently.

I’m just wondering, is this the guy who have the order for in Robin’s flashback for Clover to be shot & the Buster Call attack to begin during the destruction of Ohara? In that scene, there are panels which show The Five Elders in silhouettes and, while it’s not made clear on who’s speaking on the Den Den Mushi, just before the Buster Call attack begins there is a silhouette of a man holding his head (as if he’s not happy about the decision) while he gives the order for the attack to begin. A clear sign of an inner conflict

I think if I remember correctly some historians were arguing the term "Let them eat cake" was not meant to be taken as an out of touch comment nor did the peasantry take it as such. It was a leader trying to figure out how to solve a hunger issue and not knowing the true extent of the issue.
