Hello.. I want to reach out to a professor prior of submitting my application related to project management course. What questions can I ask him on the mail? plz respond

Hi, it depends on what you want to get out of reaching out to professors. Do you want to know more about the program or a professors research? My question to you is why are you wanting to connect with a professor?

Do you recommend reaching out to professors ahead of time prior to my PhD application? A few of them haven't responded to me, particularly at the more prestigious schools. I am assuming they are probably really busy, but just wondering your opinion.

Hi, I recently made a video speaking about this. Usually, faculty don’t work during the summers so that’s probably why they are not responding. But I also found that they tend to not respond at all and that doesn’t affect your application outcomes. I wouldn’t worry about it. If your application is strong enough, then they will invite you for an interview. In my opinion, speaking to a professor prior to submitting your application does not give you an advantage it only allows you to learn how to better tailor your SOP. Good luck!

I applying for grad school for the first time. If a school only wants a resume should I submit a job resume or a cv. One school I am applying for wants me to describe why I want to become a museum educator. The word limit is max 500 words. Should I approach this essay like a statement of purpose?

Hi Jamie, in terms of your cv or resume question it’s going to depend on the type of program you want to get into. If it’s a professional masters then you would write a job resume. If it’s a thesis based or research masters, then you would write a cv because you will include more scholarly experiences like research and publications. For your essay question, you should treat it like a SOP but you will need to be concise and get to the point versus add info fluff.
