If you want to showcase the skills you taught, I would use the first bullet to generalize all the courses you have TAed for and 3-6 bullets on describing what you taught. I hope this helps. There is no right or wrong way to do this. I would not, however, dedicate a new section per course.

That’s typical. It’s done on purpose. As a graduate student especially PhD student you should be able to succinctly articulate yourself. The limited word count is part of your assessment of your writing skills.

You can contact them, but it doesn’t guarantee you admissions. Those conversations only allow you to learn about their expertise and if they are accepting students since sometimes they don’t accept new students for a number of reasons.

I only got one grant for $13k from Harvard. The rest were federal loans. I borrowed $40k in loans. For masters, it is rare to get full funding. At the PhD level, there are more funding opportunities.

Ok thank you for your advice and concern. Higher education is a business. It really depends on how the student utilizes what they learn in the real world. If you are not interested in this graduate school then why comment? People have different reasons for apply and I would gladly give them $50k again.

For PhD programs, you need to make the SOP more research based. For the masters programs, you don’t need to rely on research because the masters programs are terminal masters which require that you talk about your practical skillsets.

The one in my Linktree is for academic job apps that value monetary research grants I applied to so I placed it at the top. For a CV for graduate school, unless you got many prestigious awards, I would put it at the end. There is no right or wrong way. It’s all dependent on what your program values and what you want to showcase to the committee. Typically with grad school admissions applications it is placed at the end because the committee is either going to value research experience (PhD apps) or professional experience (skills based maters).

I didn’t know that! Thank you for sharing. They do not focus on who you worked with. It’s all about what your research experiences are and how those have prepared you for a PhD. Fit is also really important. I always tells people to name drop your mentors and supervisors names in the SOP because you never know if a committee member worked with them or knows who they are. That doesn’t guarantee you admission, but it can get you a second look or a closer look at your application. The committee looks at the entire application and not just who you worked with.

What’s up bro! The writing sample I submitted was a final paper I submitted for a course I took at Harvard. The assignment asked me to prepare an executive plan to address an educational issue. My collective pronoun use was because I was writing it as if it were my team writing it. It was a sole author paper I submitted. I would recommend a first author writing sample tbh. Committees usually don’t like multi-authored work because they won’t know what exactly you contributed. They want to assess if you are ready for the rigorous writing that takes place in graduate programs.

I did not add one because in my eyes it doesn’t add anything to the CV. You can mention all of that in your statement of purpose. You want to make it easy for the committee to review your experiences so get to the point.

Undergraduate research provides more credibility than assistant. You’ll explain in the bullets what you do so it kind of doesn’t really matter. The content matters more than the title.
