I got shanked by that Shenks, bought 2 of them. Refused to buy OGD 16 and it was just 150. Don’t know the others but this makes it easier to miss out on the FOMO on the HH 18.

I personally love ODG 16, I also don’t mind the proof. However, I still think 200 tag is rough and wouldn’t rebuy. Understandable list.

My most disappointing bottle of 2024 was a Hirsch high rye private selection pick. I expected more from something rumored to be Willett juice.

Bookers is a polarizing whiskey. I happen to love that batch of Bookers and it introduced me to that brand. Recently got the rest of the 24 series so maybe the other three are even better. Have a good new year.

Cheers Derek! Yes, it’s polarizing. I think that this year was one of the better years for Booker’s, but 2024-02 was in my opinion the worst of the 3 that I tried by a long shot. I didn’t try 24-04 Jimmy’s Batch yet. Hope you enjoy the others! 👊🏽👊🏽

OGD 16 was one of my favorites of 2024 and I even got a backup 😋, Bulliet 12yr rye and single barrel were my biggest disappointment along with WT 101- OGD bonded which are just too thin tasting to me anymore. I know they are inexpensive but still...🤔 Cheers 🥃💯😉

OGD16 is bad, really bad. I spent $350 for a Jim Beam dinner and tasting with the Noe family. I could have bought anything I tried that night, little book, the reserves, KC18, or OGD16. I walked out with a signed OGD114, two signatures, and a video of me telling Fred and Freddie “this is the best product you have in the shop, should have left OGD at barrel proof or 114.”

The problem here is with the number 1 pick is not the price point (thats the second problem) the first is that people who had the 18 have had the 17 and are comparing the two.

Did you actually blind any of these to determine your bottom 5? There have been many times I’ve thought something was just ok till I actually blinded it against another bottle. Hard to do an honest eval without blinding.

Most disappointing for me was Old Overholt 11. All I got was dill, dough and nuts. May be someone’s bag, but I don’t like the pickle.

Oh no! It was one of my fav ryes of the year! But I totally get it. Everyone has different tastes and that’s what makes this hobby fun. I didn’t get any dill in it, but I got dill on several ryes in 2024. Cheers Eric!

With so many options for disappointments, HH18 is incomprehensible! Our Final 6 taste off is this evening and it's made it that far in blinds! I think it's It's Bourbon Nights bourbon of the year... Big beautiful balanced

@ and that’s good for your palate! Whiskey is subjective, what you like is what you like and what you don’t like is what you don’t like. There is no right or wrong. Personally, I thought it could have been much better for $300. Especially when I stack it up vs others in its same price range and weight class. It lost out to VVS, RR15, and even ECBP C923 to me. Fred Minnick didn’t include it in his top 100…
