Oh my! Today I learned I’ve been leaning my hips but not twisting them. What an insane handling improvement!

I recently started pointing my hips in the direction I want to go as in example #3. This single little change has dramatically improved my riding last summer. Worth a try for sure!

i just took a private coaching lesson last week and it was an eye opener, having an expert spot my body position bad habits, and pointing it out. my take away is my hips are always a little too behind and when i open up my elbows just a little moto style , everything is fixed

Im 51. Been riding for 27 years. Your core strength is absolutely critical to controlling your bike. Planks for me are best way to improve it.

Great video. I can identify with all the weaknesses! but trying to fix even one or two can make a big difference. I’m 59 and been riding for 3 years and get out 4 times each week. I really need to concentrate more on what I’m doing rather than just getting down steep stuff (well steep for me) whilst holding my breath and being more tensed up than those dudes at a Mr Olympia contest. Thanks for explaining key aspects so well.

Hey, so I follow you on Facebook because the algorithm told me too- I teach horseback riding lessons, and so often I’ll see a post that you do and it takes me a moment to realize it’s you and it’s not about a horse! But anyways, I have a question for you … you were talking about how when you look to the left it makes someone also point their chest and maybe pelvis to the left also. You are teaching people to be able to look with their eyes and head without twisting to look with shoulders and hips (unless it’s on purpose)….. something that I run into with my horse riding students is that when I do want them to look with their shoulders and belly button their weight automatically falls the other direction!! I want students to first step into the inside stirrup and then twist through the spine to point their chest where they want to go, because otherwise they slip to the outside (which also messes up how the horse holds their rib cage but obviously that’s not a concern for bike riders) Anyways, I’m wondering if your students exhibit anything similar???

Just a newbie in mtbiking, this is a little to be off topic... Let's say he has only 180 and 203... How should should you modulate brakes in steep rocky corners and what rotor setup shoud you use? A) 180F/203R - front modulation B) 203F/180R - front modulation C) 180F/203R - rear modulation D) 203F/180R - rear modulation
