Gianni is one of the coolest guys on earth. At the end of the 90s, I was 14/15 years old or so and used to see him on local skateboard VHS videos. Had the chance back then to skate with him, I couldn't believe that I was skating with him, and he was really nice to us. Now that I'm about 40, I admire him more than ever!

When you talked at the end about what skateboarding means to him. I cried. Skateboarding had such a high impact on my life. I grew up in a small town in Kansas and we had a magical chapter in life that some can only dream of. Our neighbors next door moved in from out of state, and the two brothers were skaters. We build ramps. We skated for hours and hours just like that. We had thrasher magazine subscriptions. We all had boards. We had boom boxes with punk rock cassette tapes. We all thrashed. Right in the sweet spot. 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, by 93 a lot of the older kids went on to college. I continued to skate my brothers 1989 Powell Peralta Ray Barbie ragdoll board. If we only knew what we had. I would spend hours flipping through thrasher magazines. Dreaming of buying the new Powell decks. Man, I wish I were back in those days again. We had so much energy. We would skate all day everyday if the weather was nice. I cherish videos like this. TY much love ❤️ peace out

I started Skating here in Perú in 96'. Didn't had any skate friends in the beginning. One day on cable TV I watched Gianfranco DeGennaro explaining how to do the Ollie, and practiced it for months thinking about his directions until I finally made it. I'm still skating and I'm so Thankful for him, he was my first (imaginary) skate friend 🙌

So cool to see a vet skate boarder and how he rides a peice of wood. I remember skating my first tony hawk from 1989. It was all beat up thrashed nose and tail. I had to redrill new holes for my brand new independent trucks and vision wheels. It was a $10 deck and I still learned on that ratty thing. It taught me to ride better. It was a little harder to ride, but I was only a 65 lbs 11 year old kid. It was everything to me.

Love to see this. I miss being able to skate. I'm 36 now and have had both my knees operated on after being ran over by a car while riding my bike when i was 19 . The only thing i can manage is pushing and carving for short periods of time before the pain gets the best of me.
