Tango : level 3 is harder now Pearl : survives 35+ mins inside level 3 For peeps saying level 3 is easy. There have been 7 deaths to wardens THIS phase (5). 2 Gem, 2 Cub, 3 Pearl. 2 got out of level 3 but died to max clank(etho and pearl). So only 7/9 runs have made it out so I don't think we have to think level 3 is 'easy' now. Credit @potato4dawin1

@john38825 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was so underwhelmed. He needs to have agro net always turned on or have it on like a 5 minute timer as soon as you open level 3. Then make the non hazard paths guarantee sound generation. Also make the level 3 artifact generate more clank since so many runs have so much clank block in level 3. Dungeon should be more upset at you the deeper you go.

@john38825
@john38825 Жыл бұрын
@@knulllord654 what do you mean? Tango has said each level should be harder than the last and level 3 wasnt which is why he tried to make it harder, and it still is easier than level 2 where people can spend 20+ minutes walking around in it, making it where only by maxing clank and dying on a higher floor is the consequence but level 3 itself still isnt more difficult. Level 4 is irrelevant to level 3, and it will only be easier with the rare shop cards and the unreleased legendary cards which probably requires doing something on level 4. If you got to get to level 4 you still have to get a key in level 3 so you'll need to go around and explore, with the current state of level 3 you can survive fine for 20+ minutes looking for a key so level 3 isn't harder or nerfed needing to go to level 4.
@knulllord654
@knulllord654 Жыл бұрын
@@john38825 level 3 ain't easier than level 2. Also getting back from floor 4 to floor 3 would most likely result in returning on max clank and aggro net getting activated. So, with aggro net actice + pressure plates I think it is hard enough already.

@coconoisette
@coconoisette Жыл бұрын
@@ekaruna42 If I recall correctly, the way embers and treasure drops work is by having a random chance at every dropper, everytime a signal comes through? So you can just augment the likelyhood it will drop like 60% instead of 20%, and there will be more embers. Althought i guess then what's written on the card wouldn't be accurate anymore... But if we're talking about increasing embers only on level 3 it won't be anyways

I think the issue with quick draw is that there isn't really an incentive to play cards quickly. What if you made it so the card played from quick draw goes back into your deck so it can played again? That would justify the cost.
@_QWERTY__
@_QWERTY__ Жыл бұрын
I think quickstep is good bc of the combo of speed and block with the quick draw. Worst case scenario, you draw a stumble, and the card effectively only gives you the 15 secs of speed. Best case scenario, you draw a powerful card to combo with the clank Block (like dungeon repair or reckless charge) I think brilliance is almost entirely not worth the 70. The risk is too great you will put yourself in a worse position with it. I think that one needs to have some boosted effect.

I think it will be very rare when all 40 cards are drawn in a deck. Etho is an exception. All other players are never going to stay in the dungeon long enough to have played 40 cards. It's far from thrilling content, but it would also be OP to have a tunnel that allows you to move the ravagers if they're above you. If level 3 still ends up too easy by the end of the phase, I think aggro net definitely needs a change, but having it always on is probably too much. Maybe have it turn on in sections as clank increases? Start by activating the bottom floor and have it creep its way up to the entrance of level 3 as clank reaches max, so going bottom/middle floors has more inherent risk than staying on the top floor (aside from finding the stairs to get back up).

Joe was leaving tango in the dust and not using Tango at all. I’d honestly say the fault is mostly Joe’s. However, i will say the difference between this run and the previous ones was the beginning. There wasn’t the same level of flourish that emphasized your role as lackey. That you are there to be commanded, you’re not a teammate necessarily your a servant. So him running ahead sorta seemed like he left you to your own devices and that didn’t seem like that was how it was supposed to work.

I'd recommend watching some of the previous videos with tango as lackey though. You can tell pretty clearly that he's intentionally being withholding about what he has, what he can and can't do for them, etc. to kinda nerf his usefulness Joe actually did better than most of them just by asking about that stuff, and especially by asking tango to do something specific at times when he needed help, like with the compass or the potion. The others were a bit more joking and casual with him, jokingly commanding him to do things that could easily lead to his death just for fun, and that's totally fair and a valid strategy to do with him, but I don't think Joe's more reserved and careful and a bit more fearful of the dungeon strategy is a bad thing

If you want an obstacle for the River Of Souls bypass passage, toss a couple wither roses in there? Guarantee damage in exchange, but just a little. Second note; Maybe make levels 3 and 4 have passive frost ember drops like treasure is everywhere. All the more reason to try and farm lower and deeper. It also could be more opportunity for noise and traps for wardens that doesn't require rebuilds

Tango, you can save the aggro produced by the player, and then use it when the clan is high.... you just have to filter the sound (from the pressure plate, or a button at the entrance) from level 3, and save it in a sculk sensor calibration loop apart from other sounds. Then whenever you want you can release the sound to your aggro net and the warden will kill the player who made the first sound. Xd it's great.

Cub’s super clank block run shows how suit up’s clank generation is pretty much null if a bunch of shriekers are turned off, and if they stay on perpetual clank block never getting low enough to generate the 25%. I know it would be a lot of work but what if you had specific clank detectors maybe on stairwells or key points permanently on when suit up is active, and it goes straight into the 25% chance
@fdagpigj
@fdagpigj Жыл бұрын
You're definitely on to something. If he added a "manual override" on the piston that enables each shrieker, he could have each one have a set chance (maybe up to 50%, since half of them will be enabled normally anyway, in order to add up to a total average of 25% extra of all shriekers) of being force-enabled at the start of the run if you have Suit Up. That way you'd just have more shriekers active, at random. It might indeed be a lot of effort though, my suggestion would require adding a randomiser at every shrieker spot that's conditionally activated at the start of every run.

Etho was definitely stuck, and the dungeon didn’t give him ANY choices. In the magma case, his two options were “give up and commit suicide” or “camp and wait for them to clear.” In the ravager water situation his two options were “give up and commit suicide” or “camp and wait for berries.” It’s such a letdown when there’s exactly one exit and it’s blocked. The player should always have the OPTION to get themselves out of a bind-ESPECIALLY if it’s risky and heartpounding option as time goes on (leads to more fun/difficult runs). I’ve always thought that in the side of the magma pit, there should be a door that leads you back down into the bottom of level 3 if you’ve already collected your artifact… if the player can manage to sneak their way back out again it could lead to some real interesting escapes (and certainly more interesting deaths).

"I want to add one and a half ravager to the crypt" Well, either you got to expand the crypt zone (maybe by squeezing another room instead of one sarcophagus* or by pushing the border back) and add one or make it smaller, so the ravager is more focused in the main hall. Maybe bring the zone from the lower crypt area up beyond the stairs? Or you could introduce another bypass in the crypt area, to make 2 ravagers less lethal in that zone. *Thinking about it, what if you just removed one of the sarcophagus' and have a hermit-sized-hole in the wall to the next one. unless you have both ravagers coming at you from different directions, looking through there should get you free of one of them easily. Ravager follows you into the new neiche, you slip through the gap, wait for the agro to go away and make a run for it. An easy to do possible fix for the situation might be to make that back room where the hermits like to circle the ravagers around to make room into a no-ravager-zone. That room makes for such an easy ravager dump, crypt would be MUCH harder if you couldn't loop them there. After watching the Etho-run: If you put a water logged lower slab in that archway, the water would flow there and stop, right? This way the ravager can't get stuck there. About the max clank situation: Putting a fixed amount of stumbles in the deck sounds reasonable, more evokers in hiding spots (like the amethyst area and that crypt roundabout) also sounds reasonable. Another idea might be to cut the max amount of clankblock down, maybe even depending on difficulty, like 5 + 1 for each difficulty (= 6 to 10)
@superbelo

For aggro-net it might be better to tie it to max hazard. Basically punish people for taking their time, but also since there are so few ways to add clank in lvl 3, it would be a good way to balance it.

I'm no game design expert but this is a topic Etho has actually spoken about on a few occasions in the past when designing his own games: if there is an easy way to play the game, a player will have a tendency to play it that way even if it takes all the fun out of the game. Etho's example was people tend to grind out easy Pokémon battles to gain XP so that the gym is easy rather than taking on the gym as a fair matchup on equal levels and risk losing. Basically you only take on a gym when you think you will win but the grind is boring and so is having no risk of losing a gym. In the context of Decked Out, the problem is that Etho knew there was a way to win, and that way was to simply wait and wait and wait. He only had one other choice and that was to concede and die on purpose which is essentially what he did, because he could have waited longer for more health. Obviously the waiting game is boring from a game design perspective (although it was made entertaining by the commentary!) but Etho chose that option rather than dying as any competitive person/true gamer would. Wait for the Ravager to randomly walk away and wait for the berries to grow. You said if the Ravager booped Etho backwards like it did he'd be hit a second time, but that's not true - it would simply reset his waiting clock to heal up a second time and try again (apart from the vexes got him, but he potentially could have given them the slip). From a game design perspective the max clank is essentially indicating time is up in the game, so there has to be features to remove all of the "waiting" options at max clank. Etho had a good solution - lava in the magma pit. As for the food, either the food has to stop being produced or be blocked off or be guarded by mobs or something to make that waiting option unavailable. Maybe a piston pulls down at berry locations to reveal a skeleton right there, or maybe the lighting levels dip to prevent the berries from regrowing. Of course that's a lot of work, these might not be the best suggestions but the concept of preventing waiting options is true.

I am not super familiar with how aggro net works, but would it be possible to turn it on in stages? So have smaller sections active earlier, that wouldn’t alert the whole floor but would increase the range the wardens could respond. Would probably be a very time consuming fix for a problem that has already been partially addressed, but a potential idea.

On level 1 in the room with the stairs that lead up on both sides there are 2 hazard doors that both go into the same room. If they get blocked (which they usually do) there is only one way the player can take (I believe). Perhaps you could make it so that only 1 side can be closed off at a time?
