@@erichaynes4448 They make it clear that the idea is to just pick a few of these drills for any given practice. Nobody is suggesting you would run all of these drills in one practice, that would be pretty silly. Also, it's a "59 minute practice" presented in a 30 minute video. Think it's pretty obvious they cut some time, don't you?

I’m 62 years old now, and think back on my Little League years with great fondness, joy, and memories. We practiced during the week and had games on weekends. I loved practice just as much as game day. There’s something about the sights, sounds and smells of the game. You just can’t beat it. My favorite drill was one and cover. Anyone remember that?

😂. Ok.. Please explain to NASA how these drills can be done in one hour.. No warmups, full speed throws set up times, coaching moments..ok then. These are fine drills, nothing new I haven’t done or any coach I know. Who doesn’t know these drills? I suppose they’re out there. Not in Florida however. You can get some of these drills into a practice, but not many all in one hour. Click bait with motive of “ time” being the greatest accomplishment. Insulting, actually. This video with zero set up time, dangerously ZERO run stretch throws is 35 minutes.. This video took 6 hours to do all the drills. But the key here is “1 hour practice!”😂😂😂 Nice drills.. but if any are new to you, you never coached.

The best practice for baseball is the father/son stuff where you get hit after hit, or pitch after pitch. Even going to the river to hit rocks or throw them is good. If I could go back in time, I would go to the river everyday after school to throw river rocks. I would also find an old wooden bat or a piece of wood and hit rocks with it for 1-2 hours. I'd have the strongest arm on the team and the best hitter.
@reprogrammedtohae4286
@reprogrammedtohae4286 Жыл бұрын
Those things certainly help. Especially hitting the small rocks with a skinny stick. But the kids that normally stand out in American high schools are paying for private lessons. Which is expensive. I mean you can't learn to hit a curveball from playing with rocks and sticks. Your method would probably really help at the middle school level though.

@Garrett Graf Pitching 90+ will get you to college definitely. You gotta have a bit more in your arsenal to make it to the show, though. But pitching is unique. You either have the arm, or you don't. You can't train to throw 100mph. Throw strength is primarily genetic due to elasticity in tendons. The same can be said for junk pitchers. Most of the ones who made it to the show have funky genetics in regard to their tendons. All the other positions require hitting ability, which can be trained into you. But at a certain level, you have to hire a hitting coach. It's a must. Preferably freshmen year in high school.
@kurtdavis7588
@kurtdavis7588 Жыл бұрын
Nah man, don't believe that. I didn't have any freak genetics or any expensive lessons. I'm 5' 10" but was listed as 6' lol. I definitely worked hard and trained myself to throw harder. High school I was only throwing low 80s and I didn't grow any bigger. I didn't have a long mlb career but not because of talent but knee and ankle injury. You can definitely train yourself to throw harder by weight lifting and mechanics. I was mostly around 86 to 90 mph but could bring it low to mid 90s if needed.

These drills really are the foundational fundamentals needed to understand and develop as players/athletes. Especially at this age. As they get older, it's important to begin establishing which players are better suited for infield and outfield, and break into teams, as to not waste time on position specific drills they don't need. The fat 1B kid doesnt need to be doing OF drills. There will always be one or two kids that can play any position (including C/P), but there's always those kids that will only ever be a short stop, OF or 1B. They don't work anywhere else. These kids are old enough to start honing their positions. This becomes more prevalent in HS, but still important.

Then they should practice more at home. Sports are not about equality of outcome. The cream rises to the top.

This isn't always true. This was probably a Pony or Little League team from a single town. They actually all look consistently good. Your experience of kids being better probably comes from the fact you are playing on a travel team where top talent can be drafted from anywhere.
