It is definitely spiritual, and uplifting!! This is the music of my youth, and it is just so hopeful with a vision of the "dawning of the age of aquarius," a sense that a more enlightened world was about to come. Those outfits are so 70's!! Unfortunately we have-not gotten there yet; but I can never watch this video enough times and hope always remains.

Played by the late, great Joe Osborn. Here are just a few of the other famous records he played on: California Dreamin' (The Mamas & the Papas) Windy (The Association) Bridge over Troubled Water (Simon & Garfunkel) Midnight Confessions (The Grass Roots) Ventura Highway (America) There are many, many more.

How does anyone grow up without having been exposed to the most beautiful music ever created?? The Fifth Dimension is one of the greatest classics of all time. My daughter grew up with the same great music that her father & I did. She's still thanking us.

This song quickly became a phenomenon! It was the PERFECT song to sum up the PERFECT decade! It was a worldwide smash hit for them! They followed it with Up up and away, almost as big a hit! It's a song you NEVER tire of hearing! I feel sorry for people born in 90s, because you've only heard of Grunge, Rap or Techno! Therefore missing out, until now, all the real legends! Try these names just to start - Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley! My own favourite is Dean Martin, group is The Seekers! Plenty more names to tell you about! The Golden Era was between 50s - 70s! Happy listening and learning!

The Fifth Dimension/Love's Lines, Angles And Rhymes studio version. Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In is a medley. Another great medley by them is simply called Medley. You can find it by searching for Medley Remastered. It consists of three songs, The Declaration, A Change Has Gotta Come and People Got To Be Free. It is my favorite medley by the great Fifth Dimension.

It is indeed two songs mashed together. Both songs are from the Broadway musical "Hair" which was a celebration of 1960's counterculture and a condemnation of the Vietnam War. A movie version of the musical was released in 1979. It's just impossible not to feel good listening to this tune, and the 5th Dimension harmonies are perfection. Thank you for the trip down memory lane! 👍

Both sections of the song are taken from the musical hair. A guy from the midwest goes to see New York city before he hoes infront of his draftboard...aquarius is the music that is introduction to the Hippie counterculture.... long story short, the guy from the midwest becomes friends with some of the hippies then goes to basic training...the hippies drive to meet the guy, one of the hippies cuts his hair and sneaks on to the military base to switch places for a couple hours so the midwest guy can see everyone one last time... while the midwest guy is offbase, the troops get deployed with the hippy being forced to board an aitcraft going to Vietnam... he dies there... the song let the sunshine in is about the fallen soldiers in Vietnam... okay that's not short.

Blacks had uttmost respect in the music industry continuing throughout the 60's and 70's+. Peace, Love, no racism...didn't even know what it was until my 20's. Wish I could tell you what happened because I don't know for sure. I always will think it was the introduction of drugs. People wanna say black men walked away from their kids, leaving responsibility behind, but many white men did the same thing. All colors were in the same boat with women left to raise children alone. Music lost great singers when music went Rap. I believe there is a place for Rap, but if you can sing, their is no way you wouldn't make millions just actually SINGING a song, because even my generation would welcome a young black SINGER because we've always loved them.

Thanks for saying this. This is how history was. Believe revision of history has warped things. Growing up we listened to Kool and the Gang, Sly, Marvin Gay, 5th Dimension. They all showed up on TV too. Midnight Special, anyone? Really good group. Anyone with an ear appreciated talent regardless of race. Their harmonies were perfection. Great sing along on the school bus times with our hippy driver. Good times

Yeah, except for that slavery thingy, and the segregation thingy, and the laws against interracial marriage thingy--except for that, it was all love between the races back then. It makes me wonder what MLK Jr. was talking about. The Civil Rights movement of the 60s--what was that all about? But I can see what you saying. It didn't exist for you until you were in your 20s. Ipso facto, it didn't exist until then.

@elaines5750 2 жыл бұрын
@@raenellefisher8514 MLK was talking about racism. If you have no first-hand experience with it, then blessings on you. But it was very real and many people died in the 20's, 30's 40's, etc., because of their skin color. KKK and lynchings. Those "thingies" were pretty darn serious. Nothing to be overlooked or brushed aside.

It’s a shame that this generation isn’t making music like this that will last for decades and beyond . Very few artists on the radio today are even able to write their own music or play an instrument . They have to rely on sampling something that was created by someone else in the past.

As you should know, Aquarius is a star sign. The 'Age of Aquarius' means a spiritual awakening for the human race. A time when humans will eventually tire of war and bloodshed and will turn to peace worldwide. We have now moved out of the 'Age of Pisces', into the 'Age of Aquarius'. This 'Age' will not be felt just yet, as there is still much darkness and hatred within the world. The 'Age of Aquarius' will eventually 'let the sunshine in'.
