As I’m sure you know that Annie was severely hearing impaired and had a five octave range, with a voice like an angel. One of my favorite groups of all time. Annie now lives in suburban Philly in Bucks county and is quite an accomplished painter. Still does an occasional show with surviving members. A truly beautiful woman and one of my heroes as I am also a hearing impaired singer. Thanks for the encouragement Annie so many years ago.

You’re right when you say they don’t do music like this anymore you mean the commercial world. Commercial world is an entertainment field. Do you realize that we have 8 billion people in the world.. of course, people put out quality music that is on a high, artistic level. Of course, people are out there who are extremely gifted just like these people. The commercial world is an entertainment field. It is not a music industry. We were lucky to even have people like this for a little while, they were few and far between most of what they put out it’s just pure entertainment. It wasn’t fair to inspire anyone musically.

I saw the same tour in Manchester, we still talk about it and, though I love Caravan, Renaissance blew them off the stage that night.

Annie is certainly a legend, but very much a living legend. I only mention that because it is possible the phrase "passed into legend" night be interpreted by some to mean she has passed away. Thankfully, she is still very much with us as are Jon Camp and Terry Sullivan. There is a long interview with her from just a few weeks ago on Doug Helvering's "The Daily Doug" channel....also Jon Camp fans might be interested to learn of his recent work with guitarist Maurice Douglas. The duo is known collectively as "Mojo."

Great music. Renaissance is a 'new' discovery for me. Annie Haslam - what a voice! A very nice woman too. Update 02/2022: Last week i've bought my first Renaissance vinyls. I'm very happy. (Renaissance, Illusion, Prologue, Ashes Are Burning, In The Beginning, Live At Carnegie-Hall, Novella and A Song For All Seasons ... a few days later Scheherazade and Azure D'or)

@@mawel1955 As far as I know she´s not retired nor Renaisance is over. Simply They had to delay plans after all this C19 thing is over, should that happen. I was lucky enough to see the 2017 incarnation of this band, being in Argentina that was a miracle. I met Annie in person, she aged reasonably well and her voice is intact at 70.

Forget generation. More like a 100 years. Same with Joni Mitchell. There will never, ever be another Joni Mitchell again in my lifetime, nor anyone else's lifetime. She is one in a billion. Shame that watching the Voice and AGT is it's all about winning and the money.

Holy canoli that is a proper start to a seriously gorgeous song. That band did not need to stand aside for anyone. For me this is on par with my favs like Yes and Genesis, just not as well know. And that Era of musicians is aging into the sunset, feel fortunate to have these images/recordings. PS: Jon Camp has passed this Mortal Coil. Chris Squire Kin.

Yes! Jon Camp has never gotten the praise and honour that he deserves. I am one of only a few bassists who even know who he is. I appreciate him every bit as much as Chris Squire, JPJ, P McCartney, Geddy Lee, etc. I would love to see him recognized before he dies.

@@beatlesrgear What's your opinion of Gerry McAvoy?
@gordonsmith70653 жыл бұрын
@@beatlesrgear Couldn't agree more. Camp played bass like a lead guitar, and what he did required a lot of talent, I think. The late Jon Tout, the pianist in this video, was also sorely underappreciated. He was perhaps the most accomplished pianist of 70s rock, yet he never received the acclaim he deserved. Renaissance was such a talented band -- and of course the voice of Annie Haslam was perhaps the biggest marvel of them all. Those lyrics (most of them written by a putatively reclusive poet named Betty Thatcher) were not that strong, but it didn't really matter. This video takes me back to the 70s, and my love for Renaissance.
@HughCorbyCruick5 ай бұрын
Living in New York City, I saw a lot of bands, including Renaissance four times and I was always impressed with how good Camp was without any mention of him as a great bassist. But this band went under a lot of radars because they were not a band that fit into radio formats. And Annie captured all our hearts if you saw her.
