I fundamentally believe the best, and truly intended, way to read twilight and midnight sun is by switching between the two books one chapter at a time. It is the funniest dichotomy and really paints the series as a comedy 😂
@Amcsae Жыл бұрын
Yes! I actually really them in parallel, not just by chapter. Line by line, chronological order, and it's the best! I desperately want New Moon from Edward. All the melodrama as he agonizes over the decision to leave Forks... failing at gunting Victoria while he's away... the whole Volturi thing!!! The biggest complaint I have about New Moon (not the only one, but the biggest) is how long and drawn out Bella's disbelief is about Edward being 'back' and thinking he's just guilty and blah blah blah... they should have figured that out in the lobby in Volterra, not the next day after the flight and overnight etc... Anyway, while Bella is absolutely convinced that Edward still doesn't love her, his internal monologue would be interesting!

That's my favourite with the twilight companion book, (the one with a picture of 2 jigsaw puzzle pieces on the cover), there is a short story of Alice where she was a victim for a murder plot and ended up on a asylum where she met her vampire-friend that turned her, to save her frome James, before her friend also was murdered and she lost her memory. And then we also learned what happened to the dead Voltory wife's.

Its definitely the best book of the series and really shows Stephanie Meyers' development as an author as well considering midnight sun is more than twice the size of twilight and the most fun part about the book I feel is that in Edward's pov we kinda get everyone else's pov as well since he reads their minds during that scene and I totally would read a whole series just about the Cullens as well. The book really made up for the lack of character development in the series and made the two leads more likeable and relatable. Edward: the flu Carlisle: hunting vampires Alice: sent to an insane asylum, was hunted down by a vampire Rosalie: assaulted by her fiancé Esme: jumped off a cliff Emmet: mauled by a bear Jasper: joined to army, bitten by Maria so he could join her vampire army Everyone’s death was either ok or incredibly dramatic and complicated. And yes edward certainly feels that way bc its his family ofc he is biased but he isnt about himself. It shows that they are like us more than we think. They view us like we view deer and cows. We're dumber and less powerful than they are but they make a conscious choice not to hurt people. They dont view themselves as superior or better theyre just trying their best much like we do when faced with what we arent awesome about as normal people. Smeyer uplifts them but the cullens really dont

Maybe it's becaise I had so much freaking fun listening to it, but I had no notes on Midnight Sun. Edward is absolutely hilarious, constantly in some state of panic, and his self-hatred is so much more interesting here than it was in Twilight. I loved the additional "screen time" Emmett and Alice got especially, the way we got more of a chance to see the extent of Jasper's power, and all of the memories of Edward's past with and without his family. I loved the way this book added to the relationship between Bella and Edward, because while Bella glazed over so many of Edward's personal questions in Twilight, Edward was terribly interested and filled in those blanks in Midnight Sun. Edward made some choices that pissed me off terribly, but it was on a character basis, and it was very much in line with what we know of him. I was laughing, gasping, and cursing him under my breath in this book. Watching the way he chased James with dread, knowing what was coming anyway. I probably read this book with more zeal and reaction than I read Twilight when I was a teen. Additionally, the man who narrated the audiobook had INCREDIBLE emotional range. He deserves awards. I was doubtful the first few seconds because his voice was deeper than I wanted for Edward, but WOW! He was an absolutely phenominal narrator. I would happily listen to more of his work.

I haven't read any of the books, and only watched half of the movies, but I've been finding your videos on the books so entertaining! You are so funny and I love your content! ❤

Have you read life and death? Its kinda similar to this, in that its twilight told in a different way. Its basically twilight but gender swapped. Every character, except for charlie and renee, are swapped. Bella is now beau, and edward is edythe. Its actually a really interesting retelling, and really brings a different viewpoint to twilight. Im pretty sure it was made bc some people were telling stephanie meyer that twilight only works bc the vampire is the man, and she was like "this will not do at all!" So she just wrote it again. However it does remove one of my favorite lines from the original book. That line is "only in washington would the fact that its raining buckets have no bearing at all on the playing of outdoor sports." Its my favorite bc im from washington and thats totally true. Anyway, if youre a twilight fan, i recommend life and death. Its an interesting read.

Your shorts actually convinced me to read Midnight Sun. Loved how unhinged it was, but stopped reading at the baseball game because I hated that part of Twilight. After watching this video, I'm definitely going back to read it.

I've never given much thought to which twilight book was my favourite. But choosing the one that gives me an insight into Edward's (hence everyone's) mind seems like a good way to go.

So Edward suffers from intrusive thoughts? Yeah that checks out.

I read Midnight Sun when it was a PDF file on SM website for the entirety of my High School career. When she removed the file off her website and an “announcement” was coming out, I was ecstatic. I now will read Midnight Sun for fun, then have to read the Twilight Saga, then have to read Midnight Sun again. By then I usually have my fix for 8ish months.

Twilight is my guilty pleasure and I liked Midnight Sun better but the official illustrated guide is the best. I goes into every character more than any of the books. So if I want some twilight but don't want to read too much that is the one I grab.

I love how Mikaila has the movie cover of Twilight, New Moon, and then the whole box set of the books because that is exactly what my family has 😂

I LOVE Midnight Sun. In fact, I prefer it over Twilight. I don’t read the first book anymore because I prefer Edward’s POV over Bella’s. I also LOVE that you see a lot more of the Cullens which makes me so happy. By the way, I’m on Team Edward and I completely and utterly ship Edward/Bella. Always have and always will.

I read the whole Twilight series thrice a year. I'm normal...mostly. Also, you say that in the other books, the only likable thing about Edward is that he doesn't want to kill people. But remember how much he cared about Jacob? His rival? In eclipse, when Jacob was bedridden, Charlie said his expression was like that was his own brother

I started reading Midnight Sun and love it exactly for the reasons you describe. I was explaining the book to someone recently, and described it as 'background music' ; something easy to read, something that i find both hilarious and rediculous at the same time. LoL😂

I remember when the book was leaked and (as a horned up teenager) had every intention to read the book once it released, but I never did. This makes me want to relive my middle school days and fall in love with a relatable Bella and unhinged Edward again. I love to pretend the movies don't exist, just like Robert Pattinson.
