You’re right, adding cost would be helpful. But we didn’t include that in this video because it’s hard to compare our family/party to others. Great video and great looking food & drinks. I'll be in SMA in January '22, first time back in about 6 years, but I've been going there since I was 12, in the early '60s so I know it pretty well. Truly love it. Did you have to make reservations at any of these places? BTW, visit the Café Zenteno at corner of Tenerías and Calle Codo. Nice owners, looking forward to visiting them again myself. Your children also seemed to enjoy the food... Gourmands-in-Training! That's really great.

Yes, our kids are turning into foodies like us :) We made reservations for each of the restaurants, but it’s our understanding that the time of year and season determines if reservations are absolutely necessary. @@AlwaysBeChanging Thank you! We will be traveling this July. Honestly I have never been to this part of Mexico so I am very excited. But I can't seen to find any specifics on Covid unfortunately. And honestly I am not vaccinated, my real question is how safe you all felt if you don't mind me asking because of covid. I'm so sorry I hate to ask this but I hear so many mixed reviews on going: get vaccinated before, they will not let you return if you aren't vaccinated, or enter if you aren't. There is so much out there. I almost feel lost looking for answers. A friend recommended your videos and my husband and I could not be more excited. Thank you again so much!!!

Alissa, SMA handled Covid very well in our opinions. Mexico didn’t have any requirements to get into their country at the time (very end of March). They took temps at almost every threshold and pumped hand sanitizer on you when you entered a new building. When we were there, you were required to wear a mask when walking around restaurants but not when you were seated at the table. Not sure how the rules have changes since then. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it. 👍🏻
@AlwaysBeChanging3 жыл бұрын
I also want to add that we used Get Tested Now (it’s a self administered test kit with a lab that monitors it over zoom) for our Covid tests to get back into the US. We were not vaccinated at the time we went and we had no issues feeling safe and getting tested before traveling back.

Thanks, Stephanie. We were pretty new at this when we filmed this episode. We’re planning to go back to SMA and create some new episodes. But when it comes to price, it’s hard to do when there are different party sizes and food/alcohol preferences. I will say we were pleasantly surprised at how affordable all our meals were in SMA. Great point. But it would be difficult to compare our experience with having three kids and many cocktails for the adults :) to another family or group that might order differently than us. With that said, I can tell you I was very happily surprised at how affordable all the restaurants were. Our total bill for a family of 5 came out to under $200 for every meal. I believe all six were in the same price range. Quince may have been the most expensive because we ended up ordering more than we needed and there were a lot of small plates.

We (2 adults) were in SMA in June 2021. We saw this video when we returned to California. As luck would have it, we are at 4 of these restaurants. This was our most expensive meal in SMA.

Considering the list of restaurants chosen (pretty much a Trip Advisor list) I thought I would dislike your video. I didn’t because it was well edited and on the cute side with the kids. As far as the restaurants, the first and last one are simply snooty tourist traps owned by the same guy. Quince used to be much better. Still has the view but it’s really a bar. La Parada has indeed great food. Needless to say, all the rooftops are massively overpriced for Mexico.
