(I DONT recommend that, unless you were in a situation like mine and you need out!) I bought a car outright (not a brand new one, but definitely nicer than most peoples first car!) every penny I made I saved and budgeted. Now being 21 I just got approved for a mortgage and still will have my long term savings account. My only advice is SAVE SAVE SAVE! Know the difference between a “want” vs “need” Love from Canada ❤️

oh yeah thats me too. Its only $10 a month, but also considering I am not a big makeup person I probably could be saving that $10 and just buying the products I want and then having the rest go towards saving for other things. But also I just have not canceled it because I do feel like if I only spend $10 a month to "treat myself" then its not really THAT bad, and I also have not gone out and bought a mascara or really any other makeup product besides foundation in the 3 years since I started getting it, so MAYBE it is saving me a little money, and whenever im having a bad day I always have a random face mask lying around

This is a genuine list of money mistakes that are relatable, like not paying fines on time or getting scammed for services rendered. It's not an annoying list of luxury items that youtubers fell out of love of and now hate but will continue to buy more of. This is actually a list showing someone who is learning to be better with money and being honest about it, and I really appreciate that. I have actually learned one or two things. Instant fan

Yes, when I was 20 my boyfriend of a year convinced me into buying a house that he had no money for. I had a good chunk of money saved since I had been working a lot prior to this because I was set to return to school to finish my bachelors. I was dumb and in love and I put in the down payment bought a washer and dryer etc. and we moved in. Long story short, we lived there for 3 years and my boyfriend could not handle finances and would lie and tell me he paid things when he didn't, he worked a seasonal job, and I was constantly working and trying to keep us afloat and eventually had to drop out of school. After many arguments, shut off notices, and empty and broken promises from him I broke up with him, It's been 2 years but choosing to live at the house was a major blow to my finances and credit and I'm still trying to remedy it. If I could see my 20 year old self now I'd punch her in the face.

Truthfully, my dumb/irresponsible financial mistakes are a result of impulse buying. I am such an emotional spender. It’s horrible. If I’m having a difficult day, stressed out, or having an argument with my boyfriend, or had a rough day at work, etc-I realize that I’ll do some online shopping, or purchase a $6 cup of Starbucks coffee, or go see a movie-and although those things provide temporary satisfaction, put a smile on my face, and provide some distraction from the overwhelming situation I may be going through-I’ve learned that ultimately my impulse buying and emotional spending adds up and now I’m left without money that I could have added to my savings account, instead of buying things I didn’t need.

I ordered clothes (4 pieces to be exact) from Australia for 200 euros and it was free shipping, so I thought that was it and waited happily.... until today. The delivery man asked for an after reception for custom clearance and stuff which apparantly costs the half of the amount I paid for the clothes. Also, if I asked for a refund I still would have to pay a 100 euros to ship it back to Australia. So obviously I'm gonna have to get a 100 euros from somewhere, pay these extra shits and accept the mistake I've made of being soo dumb. I know that I was the stupid one, but I really didn't know that I'm gonna have to pay so much more. I wouldn't have purchased them obviously. And here I am now, sitting in my chair w my broke ass. :)))

Dealerships don't make money off of the interest on your loan, the bank you are financing through does. The reason for this is that they are taking on the risk of purchasing the vehicle for you. Yes, dealers make money but they make money other ways. So how do dealers make money off of financing? There's something called reserve that the financing bank will pay to the dealer for essentially securing the loan for them, like a kickback. The customer who is purchasing the vehicle does not pay for that in any way whatsoever. Source: 7 years in the car business.

A lot of the time you can get loans through a dealership - not the bank. The dealership itself doesn’t physically have $30000 (or whatever amount) to loan, it has a car to put up for loan. So they’re making cash from the interest for trusting that you will pay the money back.

In house financing, plus you only go external if for some reason you cant get approved at the dealership, Then they go through your bank -- Still making money off interest. Either way the dealership or the bank is screwing you. source::- 20yrs in the car business - I suggest buy from craigslist or from other people. Unless you get 1.5% interest or no interest APR

Hi Monica. I know this video is over a year old but I saw a portion of it at Shelby Church (OH! your sister?) and came here to watch it completely. I'm sure you've gotten a lot of support since then, but I simply wanted to say my heart goes out to you. I encourage you to refrain from calling yourself "dumb," "stupid," or an "idiot"... the subconscious mind can be susceptible to such negative, repetitive thoughts and come to believe it. I'm sure being tough on yourself is a big contributor to your success and I recommend continuing your attempts to improve upon your self-defeating habits through positive, truthful and compassionate affirmations.

What the heck?? $300 for a haircut?? over $4,000 for a 2 bedroom?? I'm used to the southwest where the 2 bedroom is around $980 to $1,000 and the most a haircut/style/color is around $190. I'd be broke before walking out the front door if I lived in LA. So glad I don't and I have a lot of money saved since I was 16. The most financial mistake I made when I was in my 20s was tickets and of course wasting money on clothes!!!!!
@keniajortiz6 жыл бұрын
I am the exact same way with the whole ignoring tickets and fees. I used to work in downtown San Diego as a social worker (so my pay was sh*t basically) and my employer deducted $60 a month to park at a parking structure that was 2 blocks away from my job. Me, running late like aways, I opted to park at a meter like 2-3 times a week and pay out of my own pocket just because I was running late . Worst part is, sometimes I would forget to pay my meter and i got charged $42 every time for paying late. Even worse, I would like forget about those tickets (or more so my anxiety made me pretend like they didn’t exist) and my fees went from $42 to sometimes $170. It makes me cringe thinking I was like this, however, I’ve smartened up this past year. Oh, same thing with library book fees, and also one time I went to San Francisco, my Golden Gate Bridge toll fee that was $5 turned into $70 🤷🏻♀️.

After 5 months of living and traveling abroad very frugally I came back to the US and decided to go on spring break. I ended up spending more money for a 5 day trip than 3 months living in Europe. Another dumb financial mistake I made was when I was going 23 over the speed limit and the ticket cost $680 and I had to get a lawyer for $400. That shit hurted lmao. Thanks for letting me vent

My dog saved my financial life. I used to be down right horrible with my money. I was living alone and once paying my rent, id blow the rest online shopping for clothes and whatnot to distract from the sadness and boredom that I felt being alone. One day I decided to adopt a dog cause I’d finally had enough of being lonely. Immediately I started saving all of my money once I got her. The fear of something happening to her and not being able to cover medical bills or expenses, and possibly losing her because of that was (and still is) terrifying. Its a huge motivator for me to save and be frugal because I have another living thing depending on me. I also love to spoil her so it’s imperative that I budget a “doggy allowance” along with my savings. I’ve found that having someone or something counting on you is the biggest kick in the ass you’ll ever receive to be responsible with your money.

My accounting professor always said the finance department makes the most amount of money at car dealerships. That’s why they offer such financing plans, and warranties, it all comes for a price. If you pay cash out right you save so much money. Also, don’t buy a house if you plan on selling within a few years. When you pay your mortgage you pay more interest at first. Say your payment is 1000 per month. 800 will be interest and 200 will be principal. You could buy a $300,000 house and after 3 years still owe 290,000. It’s just not a good idea, and a thing people don’t often realize.

It’s so refreshing to hear a youtuber talk about money because it’s such a foreign topic. People can say “oh you wouldn’t ask a doctor or a cleaner how much they get paid so it’s rude to ask a youtuber” but you can easily find out how much they get paid. It’s quite obvious that youtube brings in big money but youtubers these days act casually and “relatable” when they move into huge mansions. It’s something that needs to be talked about more. Hats off to you monica 👏🏻
@lilcuty14926 жыл бұрын
So since Monica was paying 2300$/month, and she said it was below her means (less than 30%) that means she made at least 7500$ per month and at least 90 000$ a year, but more likely well over 100 000$. I wonder if she's making more or less now. Hopefully it's more.

Long story short, we've been broken up for a year and a half and I still haven't seen a penny of the $2000+ he owes me.... and he's somehow married now, my guess is he had rent that was due and found a new girl dumb enough to commit to paying his bills for the rest of his life. He also had lawyer/court fees that he asked me to pay until he could, which never happened of course. If we went on dates, I paid. A guy organised a tuk tuk for us and it took us around some weird, turist-less places. At last, we ended up in a suit shop. When we entered it, I had a strange feeling but I thought "hey it is gonna be fine". We were talked into buying a taylored suit and a blazer for 250 USD... in the end we still got the clothes and they are good quality, but the way it was all set up gives me still a bad aftertaste. I landed my very first 'real' job at 19 and to earn that much money compared to what I had as a student was a incredible big responsibility for me, especially because I come from a home with not much at all. So the first few months I was really reckless with the money I had. So now I realise I should really save money instead of spending it on things I don't need
