I just built this using reclaimed lumber from a deck I demo’d. This was a great use of all this number. My wife absolutely loves it, as she is an avid gardener has been looking for me to build me something like this for years. I will now modify your barstool plan for her to work at this potting table because she has a disability which limits her time standing up comfortably. Your barstool is perfect for her.

I built one like this about 8 years ago. I cut out a trap door in the top, put a Rubbermaid bin under it with potting soil, so it's easy to pot plants. I also used 1x6" to build a shelf system for the hutch part and added peg board. Coated it with spar urethane and it's in great shape still. It is covered but does get wet occasionally when I clean it off with the water hose. It's a great project and inexpensive, overall.

My husband and I are taking a course and I chose this as my project. It's been relatively easy, just know that it's not possible to put the 2 2x10s that go on the bottom on a space that only has 18 3/4s space. We had to cut them at 2x9" to be able to fit them.

Thanks for choosing this as your project, hopefully it turns out great! The two 2x10's should fit within that space just fine, the actual width of a 10" board is only 9 1/4". Multiply that by 2 and the total width adds up to 18 1/2", so you should have 1/4" of wiggle room to work with.
