@@michaelabrams7345yes it was. It wasn't totally scripted like "Twenty One" or a wrestling match, but they did heavily coach contestants and--if the sponsor/producers liked them--gave them easier questions so they could win more money.

More the opposite. If the sponsor didn't like you they would give you harder questions. But in the case of Dr. Joyce Brothers that did not work and she won the $64,000. But unlike "21" no one knew the answers in advance.
