Funds start at 01:34 if you want to skip the preliminary discussion about why one might want gold. Do you own any of these gold funds? Does the recent runaway inflation have you thinking about buying one?

Have had both IAU and GDX for quite some time. IAU doing very well in 2023 so far. GDX starting to perform well - nice thing about GDX (gold miners) is that it has an annual dividend.

Big fan. Been all aboard the NTSX train for a bit. If you want to add some gold to your portfolio GDE is a pretty great idea. 90/90 leveraged on gold side with S&P. Adds a ton of stability to a portfolio.

1. if i have to choose 1 between GLD and GLDM for long term, which should it be? 2. Are GLDM / GLD backed by physical gold?

So which one is the aforementioned would you say is the best overall? I know there are pros & cons (returns/expense fees etc). Do you recommend only one or a mix of them..or would that be redundant? Finally..do you suggest investing in gold & perhaps silver in a Roth or as a regularly-bought ETF?
@OptimizedPortfolio6 ай бұрын
I'd prob prefer IAUM for its lower fee. No reason to use multiple.
@FactStorm6 ай бұрын
@@OptimizedPortfolio thanks, and should I put gold in roth or buy as a regular etf in robinhood? Also, can you tell me about silver etfs? Sorry for the many questions but this is one of my fave channels for investments. Others r too complicated yet u have a way being straightforward. I appreciate ya
@OptimizedPortfolio6 ай бұрын
@@FactStorm Not sure what you mean by "put gold in roth or buy as a regular etf." These are all ETFs in this video. Gold is quite tax-inefficient, if that's what you're asking. Silver tends to be more correlated with stocks compared to gold. Thanks!
@FactStorm6 ай бұрын
@@OptimizedPortfolio gotcha, so no point in putting iaum or gld in roth since its not tax efficient. Any silver etfs you recommend? Thanks again. This is vital for my future 🙏✌️
@OptimizedPortfolio6 ай бұрын
@@FactStorm The opposite - you would want to hold gold in a tax-advantaged account like an IRA because gold is not very tax-efficient. I personally see no reason to buy silver; I'm not familiar with ETFs for it.

Never ever let someone store your gold for you. If you don't hold it, you don't own it. I remember in 1980 there were people so excited to see their investment go through the roof only to try and cash in to find they had NOTHING. It will happen again.

Hi Sir, which one you recommend for beginners? TIA
@OptimizedPortfolio8 ай бұрын
I can't really "recommend" anything but you can see which would fit your needs. Generally speaking, it's probably best for most people to just choose the cheapest fund with sufficient AUM that tracks the spot price of gold, such as GLDM.

What would be best for gold exposure in a Vanguard IRA? Thanks.
@OptimizedPortfolio Жыл бұрын
Whichever one of these fits your personal situation, goals, tastes, etc.
@Dr.Weed85 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t touch the miners. Buy oil instead. Cost of mining goes up with inflation. It hurts the miners. They are cheap now so maybe that’s priced in but I still won’t touch mining stocks. Too much BS, strike, power outages, dilution I got burned on too many mining companies like barrack GOLD and newmont.

Doesn't owning the smaller denomination gold ETFs (1/100 instead of 1/10 ounce per share), although cheaper share (and lower fees?) mean that you own less gold and therefore per ounce you are paying a lot more per oz? So, maybe this is poorer value.
@OptimizedPortfolio5 ай бұрын
Probably an immaterial concern IMHO. If the actual ownership of gold bullion concerns you, you're likely better off buying actual gold bullion than gold ETFs.

Second or third imo. IAUM has the least ER..my problem is I read conflicting things so i dont know if i should buy. Its too negligible to hedge against inflation. A part of me wants to place it in my Roth but a part of me wants to forgo. The historical gold trends have been stable, but nobody knows the future. Lol, this whole thing is pertinent on luck aside from individual customized portfolios. I fear i will lose in the future if i buy and might to compensate my money. There's also less info about gold etfs than other sectors.

GLD is backed by futures, it’s a great fund but know it’s not physically backed.

GLD specifically is physically backed. That's why it costs more than the newer, cheaper options.
