If inflation is 10%, but interest is 5% and half of that goes to tax, is this usury if principal’s purchasing power is reduced despite receiving interest? As in it sounds like there was a net loss considering that governments keep printing money to steal from savers?

Usuary used to be when those who lent the money asked for more in return.How can you equate interest from banks in the same basket.In this country you have to pay interest on everything you buy or even in other countries.No one will be able to buy a house or car for earning to support his family.I pay in full but not all are supposed to do that.This needs to be explained further first those people who cannot afford and have to feed their families on borrowed money.

You do not take riba. You are the one who is paying the interest. In thus situation, you have to always make repentance by saying astaghfirullahadzim and to do the taubah prayers n make taubat nasuha to Allah.

Forbidden professions? Nothing to do with professions but the ways n means you earn your income. Are they legitimate or halal in Islam? Halal is what counts. Even if you are ulamak or religious scholar but if earn income through haram means by conducting talks but promoting disputes or arguements among Muslims which lead to animosity among Muslims are haram. Your intention n actions which determine haram or not.
