I was only half paying attention because I was busy in the background but in my country (IMPORTANT NOTE: WE DRIVE ON THE LEFT) the biggest cause of single-vehicle accidents of motorcycles is transitioning from a left turn to a right turn on a winding road. Although we always have signs to advise riders of the curvature of the road, people never anticipate the corners properly. If you are coming up to a corner (for example left then right) the set up for the right-hand turn comes BEFORE you ENTER the left-hand turn.

I've had a high side caused by my rear tire blowing out when I was maxing out my 2006 r1 ... It bucked me off around 150 -140 , luckily I had threeeeeee pairs of pants on and a good jacket that saved my skin... The officers said that that should have been their fatality case based on how the bike looked... Honestly somehow I only got 4 major strawberrys that look like they came off a bicycle lol I got really blessed. I see other people videos and they get more hurt going slower, I can't get over the fact that I honestly feel like I cheated death 😂😂 ( no broken bones or anything but bike is trash now .... )

I've only been riding for 2 weeks and 1-3mph turning is super easy for me. I did start riding under instructor supervision though. I don't think I've put my foot down at a stop sign yet but I always make a complete stop. I'm definitely going to lay it down now for writing this but let it be known, I was amazing once.

Notice a big rock in the road? DONT LOOK AT IT. That meme of Jimmy Fallon not looking at the cheerleader is how you should react to big potholes, or a rock in the road. You know it's there, you know about where it is, so just steer around that area. Looking at it DOES make you ride right over it. Done it myself a few times as a new rider. And as for going into corners too hot, I've noticed that I have about half inch chicken strips on my tires. That means the bike can corner better than I can. I absolutely agree with yammie here, just lean harder than you ever have, dont do anything sudden, and dont tighten up. Odds are the bike is more than capable, even if you are not. Learn to trust your machine

Dont forget to lightly drag rear brake for improved stability, look where you go, and keep the balls of your feet on the pegs. Ride safe and rubber side down.
@conroygreyfin70114 жыл бұрын
I have been riding a year now and still practice these things often but I never see anyone else practice. I do it because it's fun though. I dropped it once when I first started because during a u turn I clipped the shifter (my cruiser has back and front shifter so can shift up with the heel of my foot but genuinely hate it but learned to deal with that along with the extremely small friction zone, talking minuscule because I love the bike overall) and knocked it in to neutral. But only once. If you haven't already check out Motojitsu and Ride like a Pro Jerry Palledino if you are interested in becoming better than the average.

@conroygreyfin70114 жыл бұрын
@@ros3m4ries Yeah I cracked my left indicator cover but that was it. Haven't dropped it since then so lesson learned. Best thing to do is pick it up, take a breather and figure out where you went wrong and learn from it. I just got back from my Friday night practice. Got a few u turns down to less than 2 spaces which I'm pretty happy about considering its a hefty cruiser and everywhere I can practice are all on the slightest slopes.
@kalestone.J4 жыл бұрын
@@ros3m4ries honestly the thing I learned about U turns is like Bruce said earlier, drag the rear break through, and after that all it is, is commitment. You look where it is and you might feel like its gonna tip, but if you're on a sport and naked it probably isnt as long as you commit 🤧

I was waiting for the high side lol. I high sided last year pulling out of the driveway. Only going like 10mph. Slipped on the center line. Cold weather haha. Broke my clavicle pretty bad. Bike had like no damage just plastics, right footpeg and front brake lever. Never dropped a bike. I did low side on a dr200. That was my fault. Goosing it while turning left in an intersection with some decently aggressive knobbies.
@riderramblings4 жыл бұрын
Having _High-sided_ twice I can now say it's quite exciting once you've done it more than once and survived! The trick, of course, is to survive. If you've got a trampoline practise somersaults, it helps. One of my high-sides happened at fairly low speed on snow... So watch out for snow - it's not your friend. 😀
