Does Turkish also have a strong Arabic influence? I believe that the Spanish words “hasta,” “zanahoria,” “limón,” “alcohol,” and “azúcar” are all of Arabic origin. Hablo inglés y español, y para mi ambos idiomas son extranjeros. Quizás por pasar mucho más años aprendiendo inglés que español domino inglés mucho mejor que español. Solamente con la conjugación de verbos el español es mucho más difícil que el inglés. Sin embargo, para los que hablan un idioma fonético (pronuncias todas las letras que lees), el español es más fácil para empezar a aprender el idioma. Por ejemplo, frases turísticas en español son mucho más fáciles que en inglés en cuanto a la pronunciación. Gracias por este video tan claro y fácil de entender para todos. Para las personas que los videos de Easy Spanish van demasiado rápido, tengo un consejo: se puede reducir la velocidad de videos en los ajustes de cada video en KZbin.

I am Korean from Korea, who learned English (I've lived in the states) and now living in Mexico learning Spanish. Once you get past the weird pronunciations and about million exceptions😂, I think English is easier to learn, grammar part anyway. Spanish verbs and conjugations are more complicated than English. That being said, it is far easier to pronounce Spanish which makes the language more easily approachable. I've gotten to know many Koreans living in Mexico, and they speak really good Spanish and they sound really good too, while many Korean immigrants in the states don't sound very confident speaking English because of the pronunciations. Bottom line, I love both languages and feel fortunate to be able to move around and learn different language. Next language is Portuguese!

Mi lengua materna es el ruso , pero emigramos a España y tuve que aprender el español cuando tenía 12 años. Al mismo tiempo empecé a estudiar inglés en Rusia y seguí estudiándolo en España. En mi caso, después de tantos años aprendiendo inglés, empecé aprender español y me senté que es más fácil y divertido hablar español. Aunque hay muchas variedades, lo más bonito es que el español es la lengua nativa de muchos países. Cuando visite Mexico, Costar Rica, Panama todo el mundo me entiende. A veces, la gente habla muy rápido pero pude entender unas palabras y supe de que hablaba. En inglés, también sucede lo mismo pero la pronunciación es muy importante. No te entienden si pronuncias mal las palabras. Finalmente, inglés me ayudaba mucho a entender español porque hay un montón de palabras que parecidas con español.

Pero, cuando estaba estudiando español tuve que repasar cosas de gramática de mi idioma para entender cosas correspondientes a la gramática española. Como nativo hablante de alemán las lenguas romances me parecen más allá de mi propio idioma que l’inglés o otros idiomas con raíces germánicas. No obstante eso he percibido que los pasos principales con el español me han dado unos éxitos rápidos. Llegué a un nivel básico suficiente para comunicarme en unos pocos meses. Sin embargo las profundidades del idioma descubres más tarde. En este sentido podrías decir que el camino del discípulo del español comienza con facilidad pero sube con cada etapa 😊.

Me suena gracioso porque la palabra "porra" es una palabra muy, MUY mala en portugués... 🤣Por curiosidad, en quales países o regiones se usa esa expressión? También no sabia que hay en español la despedida "chau" (como ciao en italiano y tchau en portugués). What advice would you give to someone who is beginning to learn Spanish after learning quite a bit of Italian and they find themselves either confusing the two languages when they speak OR they feel as if their progress in Italian is regressing as they are learning Spanish? Para mí la cosa que dijisteis sobre poner ciertas aspectos del idioma en practica, fue el subjuntivo. Solo después de que había visto varias películas españolas lo podia entender - la manera de usar este tiempo verbal y porque es tan util si uno quiere hablar el idioma de nivel más avanzado. Los libros y la teoria simplemente no fueron suficientes para mí en este caso. Ahora todavía no uso mucho el subjuntivo cuando hablo pero al menos entiendo cuando otras personas lo usan. Necesito practicar este uso un poco más y creo mucho que en el futuro cercano lo usaré con más confianza. :)

Lo espanol que hablo hoy he empezado a aprender en Buenos Aires donde se llama El Castellano. Todavia estoy aprendiendo, pues considero que el aprendizaje de un idioma nunca se termina. Mientras tomava 19 classes también tenia clases de Tango, claro, con professores distintos en locales diferentes. Praticava el idioma con la professora e el professor de tango, pero no praticava el tango con la profesora de espanol, lamentablemente.

I don't think native Spanish speakers understand that Spanish, like Italian, is structured for speed. If you look at a Spanish sentence you will almost always see words that connect so well that it sounds like ONE long word. Vowels at the end of a word are often followed by a word that starts with a consonant or vice versa. Because of this, in many parts of the Spanish-speaking world, they speak fast, even if they are not speaking fast, if that makes sense. The language is naturally fast. Compare it to let's say German, where each word is distinct and there are plenty of stops in between words. Then there are countries where they speak faster than normal. When you then toss in skipping letters, like many Islanders, for example, do with "esta"="eta" it gets even harder. I had a much easier time getting conversational with Mandarin than I did with Spanish even though I learned Mandarin on my own, and took formal lessons with Spanish.

Creo que Jose tiene razón, depende de tu lingua materna. También depende de tu experiencia en la prática de aprender idiomas. S uno es Aleman, aprender el Ingles se volve más fácil que aprender Espñol. Pero, se uno tiene como idioma materno el Portugues, es más fácil aprender espñol. Como José ha dicho, cada idioma tiene sus particularidades. Entonces, mismo sí tu tienes como idioma materno el Ingles, el idioma aprender el Aleman será también difícil por las declinaciones, los pronomes de tratamento, etc.

El español del Rio de La Plata, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, me parece muy distinto por la pronunciación del double L, como en las palabras CALLE, LLUVIA, LLEGAR, etc. El VOS como pronome de tratamento, sin contar las expresiones, la jerga.

Bueno sí, pero yo personalmente creo que el inglés es mucho más idiomático y te cuesta mucho hablarlo sin acento extranjero y sobre todo correctamente. El español es una lengua que se puede empezar a hablar muy rápido porque es muy fonética. Mucha gente también cree que es una lengua difícil porque tiene muchas formas verbales pero, en verdad, estas formas son muy lógicas y muy regulares y no te costará mucho aprenderlas y usarlas correctamente. Eso es sólo mi opinión por supuesto ☺️

It's interesting to me how this guy almost always skips the "s" sound when talking (eg. "mismo" becomes "mimo"), while the girl speaks much closer to what I hear in duolingo.
