I think the restrainer is satan himself. He knows that when he goes toe to toe with God, he will meet his end. At the right time God will draw him out and at that time, he and all who reject such a great salvation in Christ will be destroyed. Why would satan hasten that day. Rather he will try to restrain it.

The Holy Place may not be referring to a building. Rather it could be referring to the Holy Ground where Jesus stands when He returns. Wherever He treads becomes Holy Ground.

"So called" is well said. Many of them have many valuable things to help us with, but the authorized Apostles ought to be considered the 'church fathers' if anyone should have such role recognition. Futher, I wish more folks would be more acquainted with literature contemporary with the Scriptures for exegesis, instead of interpretations (good or bad) from people centuries and cultures removed. Along with linguistics, A.N.E. historical/cultural background studies are necessary, and way, way more important than the so-called 'church fathers.'

Jesus fulfilled the Feasts of Israel, the last of which is the Feast of Booths. He tabernacles with us today. I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today I know that He is living, whatever men may say I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer And just the time I need Him He's always near He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me Along life's narrow way He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.

I absolutely agree with your understanding of the 70th week, *yes*, it began when Christ was baptised. As for the 3.5 years that followed our Lord's resurrection, that was when the (new) covenant was 'confirmed'. I would suggest that the 3.5 years came to an end with the conversions of Cornelius and Paul. Christ's ministry began in the month of Tishri, 29AD and so the 70th week ended in Tishri 36AD (I am the Editor of the British Church Newspaper over in the UK)

In 9:26 I regard the prince who is to come as a double entendre for both Titus and Christ. Christ was referred to in the Hebrew in 9:25 as Messiah the Prince (nagid), who certainly was the Prince to come. The same term, nagid, is used in 9:26. While Titus physically oversaw the invasion, Christ spiritually oversaw it. Both came "upon/above/over the wing of abominations"; those abominations being the eagle idols to Zeus-Jupiter carried by the Roman legions which served to defile the second temple, much as the altar to Zeus which had been set up by Antiochus had defiled the first temple.
@jamesmiller1374 Жыл бұрын
The Young's Literal Translation (YLT) says "Messiah the Leader" in 9:25. Verse 26 says "the Leader who hath come doth destroy the people". To me the Leader in verse 9:26 refers back to Messiah the Leader in 9:25.
@williamcarr3976 Жыл бұрын
Antiochus defiled the second temple, not the first. The second temple was the one built after the return from the Babylonian exile 536BC. The first temple had been destroyed in 586BC by the Babylonians and 2nd temple built in 516BC, defiled by Antiochus in 167BC. I must ask, is there a record of idols being setup, in the temple, in the 1st century? If there were, it would be a secular historical account? I look at Daniel 9 “abominations” as something that was caused by the Jews themselves, so I don’t view it as the Roman idols being setup, in the temple, at there arrival to destroy it. Remember, Daniel calls it, “the abomination that causes desolation”. It was Israel that caused their own desolation, not the Romans. The Romans were simply the instrument God used to carry out the desolation, not the cause of it. Leviticus 18 talks about the things that are an abomination to God and that those abominations causes the land to “vomit them out” (desolation). The book of Malachi (last OT Book) speaks on the temple priests open contempt of Gods law, divorcing faithful wives and marrying heathen women who practice idol worship. The secular account of Josephus recalls the temple priesthood being purchased by non Levites. So all these things would have been abominations to God and would explain Daniel’s description of the abomination that causes desolation, and Jesus’ reiteration and adding, “standing in the holy place” since the temple priests were corrupted and committing abominations themselves. But both could be true at the same time, that, Israel committed the abominations that caused their own destruction, and Jesus was simply giving an indicator that when the idols were erected inside the temple, that it was about to be destroyed. I just want to highlight that Israel’s destruction had already been determined before the Roman armies showed up and setup idols inside the temple. It is difficult parsing some of these things out of the text, which is why these things are still debated, 2000 years later.

I used to believe what most pastors today teach until I decided to let go of all presuppositions and study for myself. I hope it’s okay to post this but I’d highly recommend checking out David Nikao Wilcoxson. He has some great playlists on Daniel, Rev and the Olivet Discourse. I’m anxious to listen to more of your videos to see if this lines up with what I now believe to be true.

Interesting video. An often overlooked feature of Daniel 9 is the use of Hebrew poetry by Daniel. He made use of Hebrew parallelisms in a couple different ways. The prayer from verse 4-19 is one long chiasm. Verse 24 is a Chiasm all by itself. Verse 26 and 27 is antithetical parallelism. The 1st part of verse 26 contrasts with the 2nd part verse 26. The same contrast appears in verse 27 as the 1st part contrasts with the 2nd part. Also, the 1st part of verse 26 is related to the 1st part of verse 27. And the 2nd part of verse 26 is related to the 2nd part of verse 27. Daniel put the same care, detail, and planning in this account that someone like Beethoven would have out into his symphonies. The 1st part of verse 26 and 27 was about the Messiah. And both contrasts with the prince who was to come, that is in the 2nd part of verse 26 and 27. When people attribute the 1st part of verse 27 to some future antichrist, they are mistaken. They are attributing the work of Jesus to the devil. It's a sad error. There is, and never was an antichrist in this verse. The whole point of Daniel's Prayer was for the restoration of Israel, and their holy City. Gabriel's response was that the restoration of Israel was through their Messiah. After Messiah comes the Temple in Jerusalem was obsolete. Jesus is the Temple, and as we are part of the body of Christ, so are we, through faith in Jesus. The spirit of God dwells within us. Daniel's Prayer was a covenant prayer, and God's response, through Gabriel, was a covenant response. Through the consummation of the old covenant, came the reality of the new covenant. The Sacrifices and oblations were no longer necessary after Jesus’s blood was spilled on the cross.

I would like to suggest that the Prince of Daniel 9:26 is the same as the Prince of Revelation 1:5 and the King of Matthew 22:7 that sent forth Titus and his army “the people” to burn up their city. Titus was God’s servant in this desolation of Israel just as Nebuchadnezzar was God’s servant to destroy His rebellious people in the past. I agree with you that the “coming” of verse 26 is referring to the coming of the people and not to the coming of the Prince. I believe that the “he” of v-27 is referring to the Prince of v-26.

The last 3 and a half days of the 70 weeks allows for the preaching of Jesus to the Jews to complete the fullness of time needed by those feeding on The Word and being babtized into Christ in Jerusalem to understand as Christians there is a time coming within that generation to flee Jerusalem because all of the unbelievers will be destroyed as prophesied by Jesus in Matthew chapter 24. The Truth of God's grace shared ahead of time for the understanding of all new believers in Jerusalem in those days to flee from Jerusalem.

If this is True, it seems Jesus Christ may come back any time. I know there are some Christians who don’t care if He comes back, and don’t even really want him to come back, but He will come back And for all the suffering of people out there and how evil the world is getting, I hope He comes back sooner then later. One might say the world is not that evil, but they are not looking at it correctly. It seems there are Christians who say they do not care if Jesus Christ comes back. Their life is good and they do not want it to end. I say, BRING THIS TO THE FATHER , TRULY. You need also to see the world today for what it is. HAVE SOME MERCY ON OTHERS. Yes, whether people want Jesus Christ to come back or not, does not make Jesus Christ come back, but again He will and all of us will be judged for our inactions, actions and thoughts. God bless as always in the name of Jesus Christ.

I agree though I lean towards the 2nd mention of prince is still Christ. And the people are the Jews, who indirectly led to the destruction of city & temple. Also, on a side note, the word "for" (in confirm the covenant) is not in the original. It was added and unfortunately makes it sound like Christ made the covenant for one week/7 years only. It should be rendered, in that week.
@SteveGreggVideos Жыл бұрын

The Jews were already there, they didn’t need to “come” as the text says they will. Also in Matthew 22:7 it says that the King SENT forth His armies, it was the Roman army that was sent to burn up the city. Also, if “the people” were the Jews, Gabriel would have referred to them as Daniels people, “thy people” just as he did in v-24.

Dan 9: 27 in the King James begins, "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: ... ." The translators always put in italics any word that was not in the text that they felt needed to be added in English to convey the thought accurately. They did NOT italicize "for," so it was present in the Hebrew. What makes you think it was not there? You mentioned "the original." You have seen the original?
@MrMurfle8 күн бұрын
The text doesn't say anything happens in the 70th week of a 70 consecutive week time frame. It says only that the death of the Anointed One and the destruction of the city and sanctuary come after the 69 years. It does go on to say that a covenant will be confirmed for one week, but it says nothing about that being the 70th consecutive week -- you have to read that into the text. There are other chronological ambiguities in the text, like how does the 'rebuilding with streets and a trench' fit in?
@mytwocents777 Жыл бұрын
As for the minority theory that the Jewish war was the second half of the 70th week: No, as the destruction of Jerusalem itself foretold at the end of the prophecy was not one of the events which the prophecy stated was to occur _during_ the period of the 70 weeks. The last of the criteria which it said would occur within the period was the anointing of Messiah. With the understanding that the destruction was punitive, for the failure of the majority to acknowledge Jesus as Messiah by the end of the 490 years, it is only logical that the 490 years would need to have ended before the destruction could occur.

I didn’t know I was a despensionalist until now or listening to this lecture in Daniel 70 weeks. From my early days of bible studies I have learned of the 7 year tribulations having the 3 1/2 year of peace and safety. It’s amazing how much we have to learn and unlearn. I love your teaching and enjoy listening to your lectures. However, I need to ask from my understanding are you saying that there isn’t one specific entity (antichrist singular) that will announce to the world at large that he is God and should be worshipped as god?? I’m a bit confused on that stance. The bible does mention there will be a man and his number is 666, so should we understand this passage to be something different as well?? Please enlighten I really do need clarification. Do you believe that Daniel 9 (70 weeks) can also be a type and anti type for end times theology??? Thank you for your awesome videos as well.

I think the prince in "the people of the prince to come" is still Jesus, and the people responsible for the temple destruction are the Jews living at that time of the destruction, just like the Jews were responsible for Jesus' death in Acts 4:10, even though it was the Romans who directly killed Jesus.

John was the only Apostle who ever mentioned a Anti- Christ, and the reason "He" ( John ) mentioned the word anti- Christ is because Jesus said there would be many who would come in my name, saying lo here or lo there, Jesus said go not! The word anti means those Jews or Gentiles who didn't believe Jesus was the son of God. Even it 1st John chp 4 1-4 John said...try the Spirits, whether they be of of God.

This is such a difficult prophecy. For one, we have that after 69 weeks, the messiah shall be cut off (followed by an event that happed in AD70.......!!!!!). Which Steve agrees is Jesus's death on the cross (AD30). But then somehow in the last week, Jesus is alive making a covenant for 3.5 years? But, some how the 69th week starts at his Baptism (and not his death) which ironically isn't in the text at all (but the death is). If you look at what we know of history, here is how it would be worded: And after 69 weeks, Jesus shall die on the Cross. (notice the 40 year gap here??) And the Roman Armies of Caesar shall destroy Jerusalem and the Temple that got rebuilt. Jerusalem's end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war. Desolations are decreed. And he (Jesus is dead on the cross "cut off" so not sure who this is) shall make a strong covenant with many for one week (which is all 7 years of which Jesus has gone back to heaven already?????), and for half of the week he (Jesus didn't put an end to this at the Cross, it still continued until AD70) shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate (notice this sounds like something from verse 26 "desolations are decreed" which we know is 40 years later), until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator (who is this????).” To pretend that this prophecy fits the historical events without a gap of 40 years (to fit AD70) is a fantasy. And if there is a hidden gap of 40 years, why not 4000?

Daniel 8:9-11 KJB - And out of one of them came forth A LITTLE HORN, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. [10] And it waxed great, EVEN TO THE HOST OF HEAVEN; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. [11] Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and BY HIM THE DAILY SACRIFICE WAS TAKEN AWAY, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. With all due respect, Brother, does that sound like Jesus? Might also read Dan 11:28 - 37. Again, *CLEARLY* not talking about Jesus, especially 11:30-31 KJB - For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and HAVE INDIGNATION AGAINST THE HOLY COVENANT: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant. [31] And arms shall stand on his part, and THEY SHALL POLLUTE THE SANCTUARY OF STRENGTH, AND SHALL TAKE AWAY THE DAILY SACRIFICE, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. Again,* CLEARLY NOT* Jesus or his saints. So 9:27 must be referring to the prince mentioned in 9:26, as the descriptions of that person in Dan 8 and 11 are clearly not Jesus.
@SteveGreggVideos Жыл бұрын
Steve never said Jesus is the little horn. How is the little horn even relevant to Daniel 9:26-27?
@hereticus40 Жыл бұрын
@@SteveGreggVideos respectfully, Brother, he did say Jesus was the little horn. Did you even read the very first Bible quote I copied over? Dan 8:9-11 tells us that the little horn ends the sacrifice, not Jesus. From the very beginning, just a minute and a half in, the teacher says that Jesus ends the sacrifice (referring to Dan 9:27), but Dan 8:9-11 and 11:28-31 describe the person that ends the sacrifice and brings in the abomination that makes desolate, and it is CLEARLY not Jesus. So the "he" in vs 27 refers back to the prince in vs 26, NOT the Messiah. Jesus does not end the sacrifice; rather, the little horn (8:9), the vile person (11:21), the man of sin (II Thes 2:3), that wicked (II Thes 2:8), the beast (Rev 12:1-2) ends the sacrifice. Still doubt? Compare Rev 13:5, 6 to Dan 7:8, 11, 20, 25 and 11:36, about flatteries, and a mouth speaking great words, and speaking words against the most High. It's all the same person, and it's NOT Jesus. So the preacher is wrong just 90 seconds into his 70-minute long message.
