Not for any other than gaming, even vs 13700K. My 13700K can easily finish all tasks faster than 7800X3D which for me is more important than having 10-20 fps higher when playing game, like I can notice the difference anyway.

@@chiyolate Because you don't play CPU bound titles. But fair enough you want productivity not a strategy gaming based CPU which btw the x3D chip will achieve a lot more than 10-20 fps extra in. But it's ok you're an FPS casual that doesn't know how these things works, only use your GPU.

Thank you for being one of the few reviewers with a none biased and positive outlook on these CPU's. I think some of the results I have been seeing from many channels are very odd considering this and the 285k have some of the highest single and multi core scores in the game right now according to cinebench. It just does not make sense the gaming is not great, so games really prioritize cache that much over raw multicore? It makes me truly believe there is some driver/optimization wonkiness' going on. AMD chips being made for console makes me think certain games just prioritize AMD cpu's to run best on like Fortnite and Forza 5 those are very AMD biased. I hope we get an Intel bios update that improves performance like AMD did with Ryzen 9.

Right now, hard to say. In that it is comparable to the 14900k, and I don't have data on its math benchmarks, the answer may be to hold out for some performance data from Auto desk. Additionally, is Auto desk going to look at Ai to bolster Finite Element. If yes, then CU9 would be a better choice.

Oh wow, a reviewer that did not jump on the hate train. Good review, quite clear that the initial review will need follow-ups as Intel works out the issues. A bit strange because Intel is known for solid releases, this one looks just as bad as AMDs 9000 series release a couple months ago. I am in dire need of upgrading and am looking at all options, i want gaming while video making and editing, so a purely gaming CPU like the 7800x3D may not be the best choice, but at the same time we already know that AMD is playing Intel and will release the 9800x3D for 500-550 dollars. At that price point the 265k is a nobrainer, even if 10% behind in 4k gaming FPS.

@RobBCactive
@RobBCactive Ай бұрын
Being generous that'll be around 5%. Using about double the Watts for a bit over double performance on 3nm vs older 5nm isn't great. The 7800x3D was going around $330 this summer, the price shot up due to gamer demand and the 13/14th gen failures. CPU temperatures aren't comparable between designs as it depends on where the sensors are placed and how the values are reported. In the past BIOS even added degrees to spin up fans to improve performance. The fact is the 9800x3D is a significantly better all round chip than the 7800x3D. It's a bizarre comparison as for most >8c/16t has been pointless while those professionals doing a lot of productivity workloads on CPU generally make money so the instability reported on an immature platform makes ARL a hard pass for now.

@@atif32111 That is only because you haven't run the kind of software which the chip failed quickly with a 100% failure rate. The RMAs were not handled well and Intel kept everyone in the dark and you've had the issue that they hadn't test properly the power conrigurations by vendors. The whole things was a QA disaster, they rushed RPL to market after ADL, due to delays on the planned chips.

Funny, you must be too young to realize how ironic that statement is. Intel is the one known for being perfectly reliable and durable and dependable, and AMD (and ATI previously) known for being buggy, laggy, unreliable, etc. Never had a AMD or ATI build in my life that I didn't end up selling long before due time because of issues. The issues Intel has now, AMD has always had. It's just a BIG DEAL that Intel has those issues because they never had them before. It's like a straight A student who starts getting C's all of a sudden, it's a red alert, but a student that's always got D's and some C's on rare occasion, suddenly starts getting B's, that's a big improvement. You get my point? Intel is still infinitely more dependable as a brand compared to AMD, despite what gamers think.
