We're a couple of years away, but my wife and I are seriously considering homeschooling. The more we look into it the more it just makes sense.

Kirk says “There are some days you feel like you’re going to lose your mind” in reference to being home and teaching your own kids. I’d like to point out that school teachers have the same struggle, they just aren’t as invested in the children. Most of the students’ futures will never be known to the teachers. I’m a homeschool mom of 9 (3 of those have graduated). What he says is true, but it’s a beautiful thing to watch your child struggle and then gain traction and then soar and be successful in his/her own way. I never was a public school teacher, but I do have an early childhood Ed. degree and I was a student teacher in the preschool setting. Kids are wonderful AND frustrating. For those who are homeschooling and feel like you’re doing the wrong thing…keep going. God made those children for you to raise. 💜

Kirk, this is like singing to the choir with me. I remember working with a young child who couldn't relate at all with telling time or where numbers were on the clock. I was working with two children at the time and I decided they needed to move and live a clock. As a result, I invented a game where I created a large circle on the floor and each took a spot. I would call out a number and they would physically run to that number on the pretend clock. It was using the body and movement to discover something they could not understand cognitively. That is how I taught in my years of working with children, yet I worked for the public school and then a private Christian school. This is not new information and it can be done in the school setting. I saw so many children advance using their gifts to bring up their weaknesses. I studied Feuerstein's Cognitive Mediation to help children learn how to learn. I was sorry to have lost that little boy as he was taken out and homeschooled. I knew I could help him to learn using his gifts and many different strategies I learned in my training to be a special ed. teacher, and I used it in my years teaching regular ed. Teachers should know these things by now as it has been taught to teach to a child's strengths. Parents have not received that training to the most part. When I supervised homeschool parents with Pleasant Valley School Dist. I observed that they often put their child to work doing a book or workbook assignment. They don't have the training. How could they do any differently. If a child is not doing well or is unhappy in school that brings up another situation. But we all can learn how to learn. What Dr. Koch said is what all teachers know. They don't always have the opportunity to use all their skills, but neither do parents with all they have to do with work, caring for multiple children, caring for finances, the home and medical issues. We need to be aware of what is being taught and how it is being taught. There are many things parents can do to help the teacher accomplish their goals. Homeschooling is good for some, but it is definitely not for all families.

@midge tharpe. Some parents decide to home school because they don't like some of the "curriculum" being taught in schools these days that has absolutely nothing to do with preparing their children to become responsible adults with sufficient skills to obtain gainful employment or go on to college. It is known by some that homeschooled children are far better prepared for the rigors of college that public school educated children. I could say more, but that is enough for starters.

This is a very important lesson for us to learn because it helps us bring out our gifts and that brings us to greater love and joy. We use the world to understand ourselves but it is a symbol like parables are symbols of spirit. You can see the brain compartmentalized into characteristics of personality but even our brain is made up by mind or spirit. We can think that we evolve into certain characteristics but that moves the focus of control outside of ourselves instead of realizing we make it happen with our mind. The function of psychotherapy is to make what is unconscious conscious. Form follows thought. We get the world we ask for. We have the mind of Christ but we also have the carnal mind. It all depends on which master, which teacher we ask. We can get peace and love or we can get chaos and fear. We can't serve both at the same time.

what in life is going to have a lasting impact, especially an impact for trillions and trillions of years to come? And implications for trillions and trillions of years to come. is it being a staunch supporter of the conservative movement? is it the play by play in the ukrainian russian war? Is it how great our bosses esteem us to be? How educated we are? How refined? How well traveled? Well payed? Will it be our favorite TV shows, or our work out routine? I would argue no. The only thing at all that will make a lasting impact is our relationship with Jesus. Only one name under Heaven given unto men by which we must be saved. One creator, One savior. Sounds extreme and hard to wrap our head around. But it's true. The bible says Jesus gave his life as a ransom for all so we should do the same. And while Jesus was on earth he had no certain dwelling place, or any place to rest his head. Rush Limbaugh spent his whole life being a staunch defender of the conservative moment he died and the world moved on at a rapid pace. Some journalists covering the Russia Ukraine war they were killed and the world moved on at a rapid pace. A week later and they are all but forgotten. As Tim Tebow said in a presentation where he was covering a magazine cover of a starving famished african child laying in the field. The photographer looked on and took photos but was too afraid to touch the baby for fear of catching something. The photographer later got a big journalist award for the cover and later killed himself the guilt of letting this baby die in the field and doing nothing probably ate him alive. Tim Tebow went on to say I'm afraid you're going to spend all your life and your time on things that don't matter. As far as world success and accolades Jesus could care less about any of it. When we stand before God he is not going to care what job we had or where we went to college. The only thing that will matter to God is what you gave and did for others. Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. Referring to people who are spiritually bankrupt, who have emptied theirselves, who present themselves to God as beggars. Who have afflicted their soul through self denial and fasting, and who mourn Pleading with God to save them from hell, and to save them from their sins. They wanted a change from the wicked heart they were born with, and were willing to do anything to get it. So God gave them one. As the bible says I will give them a heart of flesh for their heart of stone. Why would God give you a new heart if youre satisfied with the one you have? Definition of poor1a: lacking material possessions b: of, relating to, or characterized by poverty : less than adequate : MEAGER b: small in worth 3: exciting pity you poor thing inferior in quality or value b: HUMBLE, UNPRETENTIOUS 5: LEAN, EMACIATED 6: BARREN, UNPRODUCTIVE -used of land 7: INDIFFERENT, UNFAVORABLE 8: lacking a normal or adequate supply of something specified -often used in combination So how do we come to this place with God? Where we are concerned about God and what he wants for our lives? Many would say it is a divine process for God's chosen. The bible says to believers I will make your a minister of the new testament and I have chosen you before the foundation of the world to present you Holy and blameless before Christ. The bible also says I will send you the Holy Ghost the comforter to teach you all things. So if we can only come to God because we are chosen that is a very scary thing. What about everyone else???? These are complicated matters. This goes to show we will never be able to fully comprehend God and the way he has designed things. Which is why he said my thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways. As high as the Heavens are above the earth so are my ways higher then your and my thoughts higher than yours. If we look at the verse below it further shows Gods choice in the matter 18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. The Foolish to Shame the Wise 25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. We know the bible says God has set apart for himself a peculiar people to offer up praise and sacrifices to him. So we see the reason for Christians to praise God because they are so grateful for his mercy that they were called and chosen to do his work. What an honor of a lifetime it is, to receive salvation from God and know it. For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. “For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.” Philippians 1:28 “And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.” This is referring to when we see the damage the devil has done, and sin has done, and living a life without God has done. When you come to this place don't fear but its an evident token of your salvation. You have emptied yourself. You have spiritually bankrupted yourself. You have fallen onto the mercy of God in your life and have nothing to offer him. You have come to a place where you live by faith and every good thing comes from him. Which is why we hear his mercies are new every morning. And he is a rewarder of those who seek him diligently. Some people seek so hard because they have found themselves in a place needing a miracle. Which brings to mind the verse the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence but the violent take it by force. We can explore this one a little further another time. So we see God chooses people. And reveals himself to them. And teaches them. But what about everyone else. Well basically God sends out his preachers to warn.. How do you respond? Is it an urgent matter for your life? In Ezekiel the bible says I will set before you a watch man and when they blow the trumpet if you dont take warning your blood will be on your own head. But if the watchman fails to blow the trumpet the blood is on the watch mans hands. Is your self pride keeping you from God and holding you back from your eternal destiny? Are you hung up on doing it on your own? The bible says God has heard the cry of the humble and he will prepare their heart. You see there is a people out there who God has prepared their heart to receive the message. And when the preachers go out and preach they hear it as the truth, and they hear it as hope. Where the satisfied world sees it as nothing more than mere craziness. A waste of time. An off-score of society, fairy tales. I pray you will humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. Fast. Repent. Cleanse yourself from all filthiness of the flesh. Pray like David purge me with hyssop so I might be clean wash me so I may be whiter than snow. And he prayed create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence. Take not your Holy Spirit from me.

So basically this means that God should control peoples lives against their will and physically force them to do what he thinks they should. Then he would be a tyrant and not an author of personal choice and accountability.
