@@amberlopez7477 Since Dante, as brilliant a writer as he was for his time, never did any research unto the rivers he listed in the Inferno, his masterpiece is what I consider an absolute joke! This may surprise you, but all 5 Rivers of the Underworld are REAL rivers. All of them are located throughout Greece to this very day. Hell may not be physically possible to vist today, unless you count Florida, but visiting all 5 of these rivers in real life is still possible (when they're not dried up due to a non-rainy season. If you go to Greece, I highly recommend it because it is quite the adventure of a lifetime.

So let me get this straight. The 6th Circle is really located in the Aroania Mountains in Greece's northern Peloponnese Peninsula near Nonacris while the 1st, 7th, and 9th Circles are all located at the Necromanteion of Acheron in Epirus, Greece? Does that also mean that the Earthly Paradise (atop the Mountain of Purgatory as mentioned in Dante's Purgatorio) actually being located in southern Livadia (Boeotia, Greece) at the Cave of Trophonius? The reason I ask these questions is because these are the REAL locations of all the 5 infernal rivers as mentioned in Dante's description of the Underworld. Just FYI: The River Styx is also called the Mavroneri. The Lethe River is the only true "underworld" river that cones in the fotm of a spring at the Springs of Kyra in Livadia. The Acheron is the only infernal river located on Google Maps by name and it's a major tourist attraction in Glyki, Greece. Although not mentioned by name on Google Map's Terrain Mode (only way to see them!), both the Phlegethon (Vouvos) and the Cocytus (Mavros) can be seen flowing into the Acheron from the north (with the Phlegethon on the left and the Cocytus on the right) where the intersection of the 3 rivers being located just to the right of the Necromanteion of Acheron (Oracle of the Dead) in Mesopotamos of Epirus, Greece. Underneath the Necromanteion exists a tunnel featuring the an ACTUAL physical, but sealed off, entrance to The Underworld which was supposedly used by Orpheus when he attempted to rescue his wife Eurydice from Hades). WARNING: The River Styx aka The Mavroneri (meaning "Black Water"), begins with a black waterfall which was once known to contain the most deadliest toxic substance in the entire world called Calicheamicin. Calicheamicins target your DNA and cause strand scission as they induce double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) breakages at sub-picomolar concentrations. In Layman's terms, it scrambles your DNA! Calicheamicin displays unbiased toxicity to bacteria, fungi, viruses, eukaryotic cells, and especially to Alexander The Great. Fortunately, the only way to die from it is if you digest it. Knowing this fact, I now personally believe that the story of Achilles was mistranslated. Achilles didn't get his invulnerability when his mother dipped him in the River Styx by his heel, it was a test to see if he had preexisting invulnerability because if you can survive being dipped into the worst toxic waste in history, you can survive anything!

The greatest difficulty I had with reading Dante's Inferno was the references to people specific to his time. There were hundreds of footnotes about people I had never heard of, but they were likey known in his time. It took away from the timeless quality of the work, even though it is a classic. Very vivid and specific description of Hell, though. I always wondered if the references were to connote comedy or satire, and I always go back and forth between the seriousness and horror of the story and the possible comedic intention. I don't know.
@IlNamelessKinglI
@IlNamelessKinglI Жыл бұрын
Its a language barrier problem. Nothing about it is "Comedy" or "funny" or satire. The job of a Commedia is to: "project a reality closer to the daily life" The word itself comes from greek and means: "procession in honor of the gods/divinity" Commedia is also usually a story or piece of art with a good ending. For Dante it was a journey to the betterment of himself, to find God and finding Gods vision/enlightenment.

@@IlNamelessKinglI Thanks for tellingi me, I didn't know what to make of it, honestly. It's been a while since university. My footnotes only explained who the people were. It would be interesting to compare Dante's circle of hells and buddhist's Narakas (or in Japanese Jigokus). The idea of a descending hell and increasingly sever punishments, hot and cold regions and the gruesomes sceneries are shared between these hell depictions. Knowing that Narakas are quite old (first mentions around the 5th century), maybe Dante has been inspired by eastern mythology to describe his christian hell.

Crazy that these shitty game companies have managed to brain wash people into thinking DLC is something normal and to be expected. If Capcom were to do that, the game would be a monumental failure for not adding all that initially. Imagine if the Dante's Inferno game was broken up into pieces for DLC content lmfao. Good idea bro, but you gotta get it out of your head that games being released incomplete to rake in more money is ok.

I love the game Dante's inferno and in that game u go through all the 9 different parts of hell . The game at the time was awesome! I really hope it can eventually be revisited and remade with today's game play and graphics would make for a great experience! They made more god of war games and this game was very similar to the old god of war games ! So I would like to see it remade ! An interesting thought, most sinners commit various sins throughout their existence. So does that mean, that you are punished for the gravest sin or punished in order of severity? Another interesting thought, the many ways one can condemn oneself to Purgatory or Damnation, their maybe few residing in Heaven. Please note, self assurance in one's place in Heaven, is the sin of Pride. We must remember that we are flawed, weak and undeserving of the light and love of God. By knowing this, we build our love and faith in God and strive to be one with God. Knowing the perfect existence of God and our flawed nature, humbles us. 💀 Limbo is a mountainous desert of ash. 🟣 Python the Dragon, Guardian of Lust/Pride (the Dragon as the symbol of both sins). In Lust/Pride as monsters there are: Serpents, Moray Eels, Pegasi, Lobsters, Crocodiles, Lizards (all six humanoid), Gorgons, Lamias, Hippocampi and Ophiotaurs (both serpentine), Vampires (draconid), Dracaenas, Sirens/Mermaids, Oceanids, Nereids and Tritons/Mermen (all four with two serpentine tails), Gorgotaurs, Dragons (humanoid and serpentine), Ichthyocentaurs (equine/serpentine), Satyrs/Fauns (with two human legs), Giants, Naiads, Lampads. The element is Ice. 🟠 Together with Cerberus, also Giants, Octopus (humanoid), Satyrs/Fauns (with two human legs), Oreads and Cyclopes guarding Gluttony. The element is Clay. 🟡 In Greed as monsters there are: Scorpions (serpentine), Giants, Talos, Salamanders and Unicorns (both humanoid) and Satyrs/Fauns (with two human legs). Gold pearls are better than gold coins (example the gold lake of Plutus rich in gold pearls). The element is Earth. 🟢 The Leviathan is the Prince of Envy, who destroys and devours everything. (Example Hydra, Furies, Geryon) Now Centaurs, Dryads, Giants, Bears, Owls, Hawks, Wyverns, Basilisks, Crabs, Sharks, Turtles, Toads, Bats and Crows (all eleven humanoid), Beastmen (Goatmen), Skeletons, Wraiths and Necromancers (mummified) are the ones to watch over the Styx marsh. “See the souls over whom Envy has prevailed. In the warm bath of the sun they were once hateful; down here in the black sludge of the river Styx do they wish they had never been born.” “Souls indignant! How many up there now count themselves kings, that here shall lie like worms in the mire, leaving their condemnations far behind!” "The Styx, a toxic marsh. Those awash with Envy drowned again and again, choking on their own venom." It is my well-founded and proven belief that Dante by Wrath he meant Envy (with Sloth) and by Heresy he meant Wrath (with Heresy). Using Cacus as an example, Centaurs must be in the V Circle of Envy. Phlegias is the Guardian of Wrath/Heresy (VI Circle) and the Hydra (now a draconid Giantess) is the Guardian of Envy/Sloth (V Circle). The element is Poison. 🔴 Replace the Wrathful with the Envious in the Styx, and put the Wrathful within Dis with the Heretics! (Example Phlegyas, Ares, Hephaestus) The Devils's Heresy is Wrath (example Lucifer's Heresy of Wrath which made the Devils wrathful towards the Angels, causing the War in Heaven)! The City of Dis is practically divided into three Rings: Wrathful, Pagans and Heretics. "The City of Dis held Hell's deepest secrets and the worst violent and treacherous sinners. The fallen angels guarded it's walls and flaunted his kingdom." In Heresy as monsters there are: Beastmen (Goatmen), Golems, Giants, Griffons, Vultures and Eagles (all three humanoid). The element is Fire. 🔴 Guarding the I Ring of Violence are Ravens (humanoid), Beastmen (Goatmen), Minotaurs, Werewolves and Giants, in the II Ring of Violence are Harpies (humanoid), in the III Ring of Violence are Colossi and Lions (humanoid). The element is Metal. 🟢 In Fraud, to torment the Hypocrites, under their gold there is not lead but mercury (much more symbolic). The element is Poison. 🔵 In the I Ring of Treachery, among the Traitors of Relatives, there are also the Traitors of Friends (because a loved friend becomes similar to a loved relative). The element is Ice.

For your sake , get a grip , this is a work of fiction written by an author who wrote fiction , the book you read as a Christian was written by humans , your lord Jesus might have existed but this account is a story, a tale by an author of fiction, just like Harry Potter

How/when did we get to a point when Suicides are in the 7th level of hell to “oh they’re in heaven now, they’re at peace”?

i always knew deep down suicide was a sin.. felt spiritually wrong to the fullest extent and is one of the only reasons i didnt. i do not want to be damned after this

because we don't want to be cruel. Only a twisted humanoid form of a "loving" deity would send wonderful people like Robin Williams or other misfortunate people who dealt with mental health issues to an everlasting torture of Hell. These things were written in old times when they wanted to control people (betrayal of politics and country would upset God that much? Doesn't make sense...) and people have been more progressive with their views ever since. The concept that God is "Love" as such made people realise a true loving Being would never do such a thing and rather would eventually give peace to every soul as a result.

@@MostBased_ but should we praise or worship a Being for sending people to Eternal Hell and be damned for all of time and space, though? Even IF it is our Creator? Wouldn't that be akin to worshipping a dictator because "he is the big boss" at the end of it?

@@oreos922 you're not answering the question. Are you fine praising a Being that sends people to Eternal Torture for a choice they made in a short finite life-span? Are you fine knowing that people like Robin Williams are now being tortured and burned in the fires of Hell for Eternity? Are you fine worshiping a God that allows this to happen and can sleep with a good heart at night knowing this?

This story has taken on a reality for many. I'm sure the author would see that belief in the deception as the shrinking of the soul which comes by a person from not confessing and repenting of their sins.
